ill be honest and I may get shot down on this, but I think the best thing they could do to convert pirates into purchasing the game.....is to make it a damn good game. Ill list why. when trying to get people to buy the game after they have pirated it, u gotta think of y they did in the first place. Is it not available in their area, are they doing it in terms of renting to see how the game is, are they doing it bc they broke, are they doing it bc they just dont want to pay for it and want things for free, etc etc. If u make the game as widely available in as many areas as possible and with easy access, but make the game a damn good game as well. U will get alot of those sales eventually. The person who does it BC its not available will be more persuaded to get it BC now it is. The person who pirated it now and enjoyed it but eventually uninstalled or got new PC or etc etc, if it was a damn good game and easily accessed, they maybe more inclined to just go ahead and purchase instead of trying to find it in a torrent and find an actually good and stable one. Now doing those 2 things may not stop that customer from pirating it first, but u make it more easily available and a damn gokd game, later on they will be more inclined to pay for it later on when they wanna play it again.

I wouldnt worry seeing how josh loves ancient civilizations. Wanna something really cool? Alot of ancient civilizations were actually pretty modern compared to today standards. Going by history, empires pushed development but when said empires were gone, said developments that were possible came to be because of alot of money backing it. So techically it can go so far into modern territory and then rush back the other way due something happening. Alot of countries have progressed and digressed and vice versa for long periods of times. So dont wry there plenty of real life situations to halt technology if it gets to rampant. History gives us many examples

I was under the impression that the project was selling us a rpg that was traditional to the older titles aka bg, iwd, and nwn BUT with a new story, settings, and culture for races and landscape. I believe that they are right on track with what they advertised. Now its the story and writing thats yet to be seen.....but seriously this is obsidian, story and writing is expected and a staple of what they do best. Its a given in that dept.

a halfstarved lvl 1 goblin about wiped out my party
redneckdevil replied to redneckdevil's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
forgeting and rolling very low rolls lol. Eventuly we find the husband and we fail our perception check so the goblin surprise atks the sorcerer. Now I gave the goblin a shortsword bc my party has been face rolling thru everything ive placed before them so I figure this be a very quick encounter....no it wasnt. Also I forgot, im using the crit deck and the tumble deck. Players get to use 1 of each during each encounter, npcs get to use them everytime. Anyways back to the story. Goblin atks and hits for a 5 dmg. We roll intuitive, goblin goes first. Atks and hita for another 5. Sorcerer decides to cast a spell to stun, but goblins in his face. AOP. Goblin succeeds and hits for 3. Sorcerer rolls and cannot cast the spell. Cleric does aoe heal, 6 healed. By this time fighter finally is able to figure out the place and fighters walking in. he rolls for perception and rolls a 1. So naturally he bangs his heads and cant hear the fightimg due to ringing in his ears. Goblin atks, hits, and does 6 dmg. Sorcerer low on health. Cleric decides to atk amd end it quickly. Strolls across the room and accidently does an AOP. Goblin crits and draws card. Does double dmg and sickness. Cleric fails the saves and starts puking. By this time the fighter finally comes up the stairs and pushes the cleric outta the way. He stops 10 ft away from goblin and says "eh, I got high enuf AC" and then proceeda to do yet another AOP. I forgot the goblun and sorcerer already took turns agian and missed each other. Fighter steps up and creates an AOP. Goblin crits and low n behold draws the decapiation card. Fighter rolls for fort save and.... I the dm speak up and ask the player that he has a choice. He has a choice of getting beheaded by a halfstaved lvl 1 goblin and reroll a new charecter or that he survives the atk but vocal cords are dmg beypund repair. He opts to keep hos charecter. So we got a halfstaved lvl 1 goblin who has a sorcerer very low in health, one that unless the die rolls are better than whats been thrown a cleric in a corner moderatly dmged and puking, and a fighter who almost got decapitated before he even landed a blow. Very next atk from sorcerer was a crit and draws card. Pretty much swipes the legs from out beneath the goblin and basically has like 1 health point left. The fighter gladly delievers the coup de gra and repeatable stabs the goblin. Cleric finally gets over and heals party up besides the dmg vocal cords. Sorcerer goes downstairs to relay what happened and trys to console the wife. The fighter grabs the body and throws whats left of the body at the womans feet and continues to walk towards the inn with the wife screams and sobs overwhelming any background noise. Thought I would share a story of our game on how a halfstaved goblin almost wiping out a full party who has face rolled thru a dangerous dungeuon, a dangerous and overwhwlming goblin raid, and a spruced up undead adventure thru a graveyard to have a halfataved lvl 1 goblin put them in their place. Man I love this game thanks for reading. -
Ok had to share this story which happened yesterday during one of our sessions. Warning! Spoilers and maybe mispronounced words ahead! Campaign-rise of the runelords, pathfinder Party-everyones lvl 2. Cleric, fighter, magus, and sorcerer. Heres the story on how a lvl 1 halfstarved goblin almost wiped out my party. Again warning spoilers ahead! Ok the atory takes place near the end of one of our sessions. The magus called out BC of family stuff due to Easter so his charecter was passed out at the inn from drinking to much. We had to just arrived back into town after a trip feom the graveyard. Full health but are out of our lvl 1 spells. We arrived into town to be approached by a bewildered woman who tells a sad tale of her son and dog and how her husband maybe in trouble. Our party of 3 agree to go see if the husband is alrite and the fighter runs to go tell the sheriff. The cleric and sorcerer arrive at the house and begin to search. The fighter arrives at the sheriffs place and tells the tale but in his haste forgot to get the womans name. He only remembers the dogs name which he at first believes is the womans name... We continue to search the house while the fighter

hey as long as it dosent interfere with their work on project eternity...id say let them have it. Avellone and ziets deserve as much work and cash as they can handle. It nets them more cash and lets them spread their wonderful influence into more games, id say go for it. As long as it dont interfere with project eternity of course

best thing for them to realize is that it needs to stay the way it is and for them not to go to make the game more pc intuned to what they "think" the people will want. Also they need to release it during summer or before, because otherwise its gonna get swallowed up in the games around christmas and next february. If they wait til next february, ill take drastic actions like blowing up their forums or something, but ya it does need to be released sooner and not later. -
Ow wow, so eventually can get 3 seperate atks off. I was thinking the second + someone gets is added to melee dmg and the 3rd was an extra atk. Mmmm,, anywhere I can read to get info on this?

I do have a question for a beginner player and dm. At lvl 8, players atk base points go from +7 at lvl 7 to a +8/+1 at lvl 8. Whats that +1 mean? And ive noticed at even high numbers theres a 3rd seperate plus etc. what are those extra pluses?

I would like to second the disarm/pickpocket of the grimoires, BUT only if its temporary. Like if a warrior or rogue disarms the grimoire its only for 1 turn before the grimoire magically goes back to its owner. And maybe a cd on how often the grimoire can be taken away as well.

I do have a question about recommendations though, what premade adventures do yal recommend for people who like to rp and battle, but not so much managing businesses/towns/kingdoms/etc etc. So far I have rise of the runelords and carrion crown, hut ive looked over the other pathfinder adventures and see, alot of,people saying quite a bit of them lose steam etc. anyone recommend any good pathfinder or even dnd premade adventures?

Is it still coming out?
redneckdevil replied to St0rmyWeather's topic in South Park: The Stick of Truth: General Discussion
I still say game is basically finished. Ubi gotta bugtest it, slap their drm onto it, and figure out marketing ideas for it. So far only what 2 commercials for the game and alot of non sp or nonobsidian fans dont know much about it. Granted im going on the bases of personal opionion working in retail and visiting Gamestop alot and base it on what I see and hear from customers. I think ubi does need to get more commercials out for it and for the love of God not postpone it for Christmas sales. April or may will do nicely with minimum competition. -
The book thing I see more as someone getting close to a caster, not a caster running into battle armed with a magically enchanted grimoire rdy to slap to slap beasts down. As far as losing place or dmging book, I picture caster basicqlly leaving a finger on their page and the book being magically imbuened to where its not just a regular book but has a magical arua to protect against physical violence or wear and tear.

im loving this. As someone whos just got into pnp, I totally get and understand this mechanic. I would like to make a suggestion. How bout the area is the 5 nodes around said melee where he is facing and have the 3 at his back a non combative area to stop. That way aoo would happen when someone gets to close to a players front side and fov whereas the areas outside the fov would be free or safe areas.

redneckdevil replied to St0rmyWeather's topic in South Park: The Stick of Truth: General Discussion
they move it away from obsidian, its going on my **** list. Im guessing its delayed until ubi can stamp it to death with its uplay drm. They better not be changing or censoring it in anyway. -
also I will second greylord on rise of the runelords. As a beginner beginner player who is also being the dm on top of it, rise of the runelords seems pretty easy and enough room to add and take away from the main campaign. I bought rise of the runelords and carrion crown campaigns. While I am floored and deeply impressed with the first 2 books in carrion crown, even I realize its very rp heavy which is good but also to get the most outta the story the players need to know a good bit of the rules and what exactly their options are. I decided rise of the runelords for our beginnera group for a couple of reasons. One is that it seems very flexible but straightforward to dm and for players to play. Second because me and my group are brand new at pnp rpgs, the beginners dungeon that comes with starter kit can easily be incorporated into a prestart to the campaign. But then again I am brandnew at this and have realized to do a successful campaign is half on the dm and half on having a good group of players that get along and will be their charecters. I made it rule number one of the house rules, is that ur charecter does, acts, and talks like he does, not like u do and act and know. So far it seems we can talk, fuss, debate every other action but as long as that rule is enforced and the players abide by it, it seems no matter what the campaign and process will go along well.

Ok so I did my very first dm session today..officially of course. Started out doing the beginning dungeon in the starter kit but I tweek it to where we all started in sandpoint since I am using the quest to springboard into rise of the runelords. Was alot of fun. We spent about man 2 hours introduction in sandpoint alone. Was pretty funny. Rolling with a magus, sorcerer, and a fighter and im stepping in as a cleric. The fighter has awesome dex, str, con, int, was just downright lucky in those but bombed bigtime with cha. Everything is like 18s n 17s but his cha is a 5. We had so much fun having the townfolk react to his looks and cha, downright funny as hell. Had to step in and let his str mod be used in intimate checks only to give him a chance. But man, its just nice to do alot of prepwork like a couple days worth on a dungeon and then nite before just throw out the town for starter as something just to change it up and have it flesh out like it did. Was amazing and gratifying, im really liking my group. We eventually got to the dungeon and got up to them being ambushed by the spider and called it right when they got ambushed. Anyways just wanted to give a heads up on the progress and my first newbie run as a dm.
