I honestly don't know. I think a large part of it is the suckers(and teeth on some varieties) as well as how "squirmy" they are when in movement. Encountering such a creature would instill a combination of unreasonable panic and genocidal fury in me.

The best times of my life have included heavy breathing and/or loss of metal faculty! Although I have a phobia of squids and octopuses. Those tentacles scare the **** out of me.

Fear of women body in modern videogames

I admit, I find those images much more appealing than breasts the size of watermelons. Then again, I am an ass man. Not really. Having a fantastic ass and having tittays like those in Dragon Crown are two different things. -
Careful Wals, we don't want to give them any ideas... Is Dredd still in print?

And they are supposed to be the immature ones? Bioware is often ridiculed on here for trying to appeal to emotion junkies rather than develop a competent story and for sucking in general. Why don't you go White Knight for them? If you think asses like that are uncommon, you obviously have not met very many black or hispanic women. -
To be fair, the new "kewl" Superman ditched the red undies. And like Oerwinde said, Superman has been depowered(although the reboot probably undid it) and isn't quite as smart or strong. Doesn't matter though, Spider-Man is better.

Those Spiders are extremely cute and more interesting than seeing Oby bitch about the West taking away all of teh b00bz.

Time doesn't exist. Competing studios hire people to sabotage the viewing experience of films from other studios?

I found the episode to be unintentionally funny to be honest.

Well, I found out about a B-movie featuring Sean Connery that I intend to watch so it wasn't a complete waste. -
At least they didn't turn Zod into an actor.

Frankly, the inclusion or exclusion of one type of relationship in PE ranks very low on the list of priorities I have for PE. Project Eternity will likely be the best game I play in 2014 no matter if there are no romances or if the PC can romance every NPC with more than 3 lines. The likelihood of what amounts to a few lines of dialogue breaking the game is infinitesimally miniscule. I heavily dislike the BioWare romances(which range from bad Twilight-esque ego stroking to digital sex dolls) but I put the blame more on Bioware for employing sub-par writers than on the type of relationship that they are attempting to depict. Romance can add quite a bit to a story(even a video game) if done well, but it rarely is decent because unfortunately most writers are not very good at writing. Project Eternity is going to be written by Chris Avellone and George Ziets, so something tells me that the writing talent is definitely above average. On the implementation of relationships, it is very bad design if the only way the PC can get to know their companions is by pursuing one type of relationship. There should be multiple types of relationships(like rivalries, friendships, mentor-student, etc.) for each companion so the player can experience a relatively equal amount of content instead of getting three one-liners because they didn't feel that the PC would want to be ass-kissingly friendly to every NPC.

You didn't. I said that I did not want to see classes that were designed to be mechanically superior or inferior. The problem occurs when that dynamic progression results in a character who is superior in every way to others. I have no problem with a Wizard getting very powerful, but I do have a big problem with a wizard becoming so powerful every other class becomes obsolete because magic can accomplish everything combat or skills can. It is bad design when one class is clearly superior(or inferior) to others. Fortunately I don't have to worry about that in PE, because the power curve will be relatively similar for all classes and each will be brining a unique and useful set of skills to the table.

Probably mostly this, yes. But I'd take it a bit further. For me it's enough all classes provide utility, doesn't need to be roughly equal. For one, I'd separate combat and general utility. Like picking between a professor and a weaponmaster. One can help you get into the institute, while the other is way better if a fight happens. Just as long as you're not choosing from a weaponmaster vs a regular fighter, where the weaponmastar can do everything the fighter does, only better. But this seems to be better for games where you choose helpers for each mission from a worker pool. Like NWN2 or any of the Biowares recent offerings. Less suited for likes of Icewind Dale or BG where you basically want a dream team for combat and don't go swapping all too often. And the thinking arises from ME2. DA2 frustration. Yea, choose the party, only it doesn't matter who you choose because they're all equally useful in any given situation. (especially in DA2 where every given situation was you being rushed by a mob) In my opinion it would defeat the purpose of having combat skills and non-combat skills draw upon different pools, which has been confirmed, to have certain classes excel in combat and other classes excel in non-combat. Perhaps I'm reading this wrong but I disagree. I think that a Rogue should be less adept at martial combat than the warrior classes and be unable to cast spells like caster classes. They should get some unique abilities(like sneak attack) that make them something other than "Fighter-lite", but IMO a Rogue's greatest assets are the multitudes of skills they have access to and they should get the most skill points out of any class. The chances are that we'll see something like this, but I personally dislike the idea of one class getting all the skills very strongly, and I believe it does defeat the purpose of separating combat skills and non-combat skills if the class choice represents precisely that kind of tradeoff. But really it would require completely revamping DnD's utterly terrible skill system either way (and here's hoping for more non-rogue skills so that every class has an interest in skills). I don't think they should get all the skills possible, I just believe that the play style of a Rogue should be more skill reliant(like making use of stealth abilities) than other classes. I do believe that the D&D system is terrible and all classes should find skills useful.

Not quite true, she does have another purpose. Well played. -
I apologize. I was thrown by your phrasing is all. That, and I couldn't pass up such a humorous scenario. Here's the way I see it: How far off is it, really, from saying "Welp, if we're gonna die tomorrow, or the world's gonna end, then we'll try to stop it. But, tonight, I'm going to order the most expensive thing on the menu, since we have to eat dinner and sleep before tomorrow's battle anyway!"? Except there's a person involved, rather than some inanimate food. But, yeah. Confronting that kind of thing makes you think about what you can't do after it's too late, is all. Doesn't mean it's preposterous for people to not have sex just because there's world craziness going on. But, it's not entirely insane for them TO do that, either, and it's not exactly an arbitrary or abrupt decision when you've been through so much alongside someone. Yes you have articulated my point well, there are many examples of people who face stress and death and have sex as a coping mechanism. I mentioned this before but during the Blitzkrieg in the UK many people would wait in the dark while London was being bombed and have sex as a way to deal with the stress and the fact this may be there last night. I had a teacher who never knew his father for exactly this reason. So now we extrapolate this behavior to a game like Torment, the Nameless Hero is facing the greatest journey of his life and untold dangers and horrors. He is surrounded by people that are prepared to face death for him and he is attracted to and he has feelings for. Why would he not have physical relationship with one of them? Anyway I think I have made this point enough now Perhaps after all the times he has died, his manly parts no longer function?

Yea, choose the party, only it doesn't matter who you choose because they're all equally useful in any given situation. (especially in DA2 where every given situation was you being rushed by a mob) That is pretty much what I meant, except I think that all classes should be roughly equal in their particular fields. A Wizard should be about as good with magic as a Fighter is with martial combat. The problem occurs when one class' field is much more powerful than another's. for example, if Fighters and Wizards are both equally good at what they do, but magic is much more useful in every situation, I believe that is poor balance. That isn't to say we should see classes reduced to the exact same effectiveness in every situation, that would not be very good design. What we should see is that all classes can bring something valuable to a party and no class is designed to be superior to all others in any situation. I believe this can be achieved by making classes with similar roles more unique and introducing mechanics that make certain solutions harder(like spell resistance, damage resistance vs. physical damage, obstacles that require a wide array of skills, etc.).

Fear of women body in modern videogames
PK htiw klaw eriF replied to obyknven's topic in Computer and Console
Neither do I. I blame the 90s, where everything featured women with breasts the size of watermelons, which is too over the top to look sexy to me. -
I think that the people arguing here mean two different things by "balanced". Those against seem to be defining it as "every class must be exactly equal in ALL situations", while those for it seem to define it as "all classes must provide roughly the same amount of utility, but can have strengths and weaknesses". I feel that PE should be balanced so that when I decide to play a Paladin, I am not selecting a class that is considerably worse than a Mage. This doesn't mean that a Paladin should have AoE abilities to match the Mage's fireball, this means that when constructing my party/creating my PC there should be clear advantages and disadvantages to the choices I make and not "this class can hit **** with a sword, this class can throw meteors with impunity, and this class just sucks". It is bad design when there is a clearly superior choice with no viable alternatives.

Uhh,I'm aware of this. I was being sarcastic. <.<Si. I believe Micamo was pointing out, via sarcasm, that it's silly to conclude that if you don't like Bioware games, then anything that can be found in a Bioware game must be something you hate, rather than actually pinpointing what it is you don't like about them, specifically. I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to get at with "fight-or-flight situation" there, but I highly doubt BruceVC is referring to something along the lines of the following:"Man, walking down this path sure is nice. You're pretty cool.""Yeah, you too. Yay, paths..."*Wild Tiger appears*"OMG! A TIGER! QUICK! SEX!!! NOW!!!""Wait... shouldn't we probably fle-""NO! SEX! IT'LL HELP ME COPE WITH THE APPEARANCE OF THIS VORACIOUS TIGER!" Next time I see a tiger, I'm going to try to get the closest woman to have sex with me. Thanks for the tip Lephys.
