  1. While I'm positive this is good news for Iran, this means we miss out on Ahmedinejad's annual UN speech.
  2. QFT. If anything, PE seems to be correcting the biggest flaws of the IE games, which are the D&D mechanics translated to RTwP. IMO designing mechanics from the ground up makes more sense than adapting mechanics designed for another medium.
  3. I lost the last of the weight I gained during the winter. Down to 183 pounds. I cooked for friends most of the day. Made chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, green beans, biscuits, and Red Velvet cake. Drank some nice beer called Obsidian Stout. Definitely going to hit the gym tomorrow. Also my GPU finally crapped out, so I'm just going to build a new rig instead of upgrade and wait for the mobo or processor to fail or become obsolete. Goodbye $1300! Pork or Beef? If Beef, make sure you give them at least 10 hours to smoke, preferably using pecan wood. If Pork, you should have bought Beef Ribs.
  4. True, if anything this had to be one of the most accurate portrayals of Lois Lane in a movie. I enjoyed Man of Steel. Lets hope it is more of a Batman Begins than a X-Men.
  5. Thank you MS. Instead of buying your ****ty console, I'm upgrading my PC, getting a new monitor and buying a greater amount of PC games. On topic: If we don't really see a big hit for sales of the ****BoxOne, how do you think that will effect large publishers and their policies? Also, are the typical console buyers tech savvy enough to be aware of what the ****BoxOne will be doing if they even care?
  6. We could always bomb Syria to oblivion. I'm pretty sure it would be a bit more cost effective than the current US policy and lead to pretty much the same result.
  7. People actually do. When people hail someone who let loose classified information as a hero sticking it to the Great Satan or letting everyone be privy to the secrets of the government they are doing exactly that. There is a reason that military and intelligence information is classified other than "oppressing" people.
  8. One of the arguments against romance is that - how it has been implemented so far - is that you don't have a very interesting companion UNLESS you pursue the romance. Therefore for many people this isn't a "well I won't use the feature so its development is a neutral issue" to "this feature could actively nerf joinable companions" Facing death on a daily basis might lead the party to actually want to get some rest instead of copulate. To be honest this is one of those things that is going to be HIGHLY dependent on the PC and NPCs and the situation IMO. You used the word "immersive", therefore I have a mild hate of you now. I would agree, but ever since you changed your avatar from the blonde, I feel a bit angry every time I see you post.
  9. Eh it is just going to be like a WoW rogue. Lots of prep, perfect positioning, unload with a set of specific skills.... then start prepping again so in 30-40 seconds you can do damage again. Meanwhile the guy with the two hander does steady reliable damage to multiple enemies the entire time. On a "pure damage" number crunch the two hander guy probably wins.... but the Rogue will still be better for one on one bursts of massive damage at a short time. In other words two hander is for trash killing, rogue is for precision strike on high threat target. I don't get this, a two handed sword deals much more damage than a dagger against one person. I don't know anything about MMO's because I don't play them, but I know how steel works and a two handed sword doesn't affect multiple people when you hit one. Edit: Does Warcraft have a different set of physical laws governing mass and impetus? Sorry for the derail but this sounds utterly idiotic, I thought Eternity was going to have some authenticity to its arms and armour, not MMO rules. Bad MMO mechanics. Don't worry good sir, PE seems to be avoiding MMO mechanics pretty well.
  10. Hmm, if designed like Baldur's Gate(where there was enough XP to hit the level cap several times over) will grinding even be useful if you could do it in PE? Also, what if XP was rewarded with dealing with random encounters, but not ties to combat, so you would get a reward for either butchering a group of bandits or talking them down? IMO, that sounds pretty reasonable.
  11. Isn't that common with Oby threads?
  12. No. They are true heroes fighting this Great Satan by exposing information. Never mind if it gets people killed, international relations get damaged, or extremist groups get more ammunition to use for recruitment, people have a right to know every bit of military intelligence and the **** talking diplomats do.
  13. Using this logic, any type of relationship with a character(from friendship to rivalry) that is written for a character supersedes any other possible relationship. Doing so is bad design because it restricts content to particular types of PCs who want to pursue a particular relationship with an NPC, which was one of the main complaints(and something I agree with) about romances. Now IMO, the actual problem is that most games use a binary influence system that registers that the NPC likes or dislikes the PC instead of attempting to implement a system that includes complex and "deep" relationships rather than the "friendship/romantically involved" that has become the stale standard. I would rather see PE explore more negative or impersonal relationships that have rarely been done well in PE(like rivalries and "two people who work together but are cold towards each other"(not sure of a proper word)) than the ones that have been done over and over(like friendships and romances). I think the best solution is Ieo's suggestion of having branching paths for relationships with similar amounts of exclusive content for each type of relationship possible with the NPC. Implementing it in PE will be much easier than implementing a similar system in previous Obsidian games, seeing as they do not have to shell out money for voice actors and animated conversations.
  14. I think this is, from my subjective point of view, the most accurate review I've seen of the game. That's even worse than a game being branded as bad. At least a bad game you're likely to remember. Well, YMMV. I'd rather play a game I tremendously enjoy while I'm playing through it and then later forget about (DA2, some others that I've forgotten. ) than one that causes active suffering to me. But I'm not a gaming hipster! Then you are a fool. The only reason to play games is to cause yourself immense suffering and/or boredom. If you are having fun, you are doing it wrong. Not really excited for either, found TW2 pretty boring and repetitive, found DA2 boring and repetitive with worse mechanics than the first. I will check out both if I hear good things about them from people with similar tastes, or if alanshu guarantees the ability to wear a golden codpiece in DA3 in the case of DA3.
  15. Is it just me or are the majority of spider pictures in this thread cute? I am a firm fan of the principle that there are some things one is not meant to watch. I agree, I would have preferred to see a sequel to a lovely clip I saw a while back featuring two charming ladies and a cup than that 2 hour ****wad.
  16. Bioware is shamelessly pandering to the mole-covered demographic.
  17. I'm considering trying this when I'm done assembling my new rig, would any of you recommend it to someone who normally dislikes MMOs?
  18. It is a proven fact that beards make everything better. EDIT: OP, you should add "meh" options.
  19. Hmmm, both will be cinematic games with actiony combat, probably open-world, and a focus on story and choices. I don't know if there will be much difference besides the setting and the amount of **** shown. I will have to wait and see, but I'm going to give the edge to PE, which will bend them both over the table and plow them hard.
  20. I also didn't like how they changed the origin from veteran to cop. Does anyone here know where to find the Alan Moore Marvelman?
  21. Meh. This is a really inefficient way of gathering intelligence. Not only is it a truly massive amount of data per person, but so much of it is bound to be worthless garbage. I wonder what percentage of the Internet data is related to porn and cat pictures? You are making the assumption here that innocence is a valid defense.I'm not sure if modern governments can be trusted to care about such nuances. Defense against what? Look at all the crud the IRS is dealing with now that it came to light that they targeted Tea Party activists. We clearly need to stay on top of government agencies to make sure they aren't abusing their power, but the citizenship still has a lot of ability to do so. To be fair, when the Tea Party came along we saw a large increase of organizations applying for non-profit status. A tax agency focusing resources on groups that are anti-taxation actually makes sense to me.
  22. After watching "The Human Centipede 2", every time I see one of the little crawlers I hear a middle aged fat man squealing "yeeeeeeee".
  23. The 10 minute short film is better than either of them.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R6QLiNFHd8 Thomas Jane should do everything Punisher for now on. I like the guy from Warzone, but he's no Thomas Jane. I would like to see HBO do Punisher as a series, actually. If Thomas Jane had done War Zone it would have been even better. I just liked War Zone because it did Punisher right. Punisher isn't about long drawn out revenge schemes, he's about a bullet between the eyes. Really? I feel like the Punisher (under Ellis at least) Had a lot of the more drawn out ridiculousness that populated the Jane movie. Seriously, the guy went all out in wiping out an entire crime family with as much planning as Jane. True, the Punisher is fond of complicated plans when the target is big enough. I liked that the Thomas Jane Punisher focused on that aspect rather than turning him into a generic action-film vigilante.
  24. I remember going to see that when it came out in theaters. I felt like I had just watched a feature length Family Guy with some A-list actors.
  25. "Fondleslabbers"? Wals, sometimmes I think you're too English for me to understand without a translator.
