I find my old PoE beta thread LoL https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/69078-flame-of-devotion-with-an-arbalest/?hl=%2Bflame+%2Bdevotion Anyway I think it's too early to judge class combo. Because although Paladin comes with a sweet Off/Def package(Deep Faith, FoD, LoH), all of its mid-late game abilities are Extotations that is not self-targetable. I wouldn't say give him some good starting abilities can be counted as OP because later on his abilities cannot buff himself. SI is an exception in late game but using SI will cost more resource so u can use less FoD so it's a source management question. Anyway what I try to say it is too early to judge class or combo right now without seeing the whole talent tree, some class might start good but become meh later on(PoE1 rogues I'm pointing at u). Edit: I also find it is unclear to tell what role a paladin is from his talent tree. He start with very good Defense/Offense hybrid abilities. But once after power level 5, all abilities are suddenly turns into supportive ones like all the Extotations. In the very late of the tree, there is SI which is a dps/healing abilitiy. We can tell the designer is also very undecided about his role in the game. From the beginning he want to make it a Tank/Striker, but later on he changes his mind and try to make it a supporter, but then finally he made up his mind to turn paladin into a Healer/Striker/Tank hybrid.

That’s very sad, what abou wizards’ Blight spell, does it proc AOE affliction?Blights and also Spirit Lance don't do it anymore as well. I shouldn't complain, I mocked that behavior in the first place. Swift Flurry still works... At least devs are awared of this kind of issue and addressed some of them. So you mean Blight/Blast + Swift Flurry still works? I wonder how the inner mechanism of these weapon attacks. If they use come parameter to prevent some cases, there will always be edge cases like Blast + Swift. I'd say the best solution is turn all aoe into Carnage like special attacks that won't proc on-hit-effect, including Blight/Blast AOE, Citizal Lance AOE, Carnage, Cleave and maybe disengagement attack and riposte.

Yeah I just realize this happens to all jump spells and attacks. But noone post a bug thread to report this :D

Paladins were also nerfed multiple times in PoE 1, if I remember correctly, they got deep faith nerf, FoD nerf, basic deflection nerf, and later on devs realize they nerf paladin too hard so they gives accuracy bonus to FoD as a compensate. So .... we will see Paladins did not get nerfed they got SI and never were the same again, the small nerfs never compensated for that juicy powerspike. Have u played the game from PoE 1 beta? I did and SI is added by WM 2 which is in the very late of their develop cycle. I also remember bleakwalker can do 300+ damage with FoD in beta and got nerfed immediately

So I wonder which does more damage? I read a few thread here that all says Dragon trashes > Sacred Immolation. But SI can benefit from high accuracy and critical bonus isn’t it? So I made a MC Darcoozi paladin which buffs himself with liberation extotation and pick all the +critical damage talent and all slayer talent. The damage is pretty impressive, so any input from players played both?

With this build is it important to raise Per, or could you leave it at 10 what with all the extra accuracy and conversions? It depends on your difficulty, and if u have a priest, which is the only class that can give huge accuracy bonus to team. If u play on PoTD, I’d recommend u to max Per, or at last make it 15, on other difficulty, do whatever u want.

Flawed design: dual welding with pistol/blunderbuss
dunehunter replied to kmbogd's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Agreed, dual firearms is a mess currently. You shoot way faster than wield one firearm, which make no sense. Also there is a bug where u can use full attack abilities with both hand when u only reload one weapon. -
Hahahah Obsidian’s math

Hey, even ancient China had their own vampire myth. The infamous jiangshi (僵尸). To this day, I find corpse eater a very odd subclass for a barbarian. I wonder what train of thought lead them to make it. Some old barbarian culture that devoured the eyes of their enemies? Vicious tribes of cannibals? Jiangshi = zombie in Chinese lol.

Fighter/Paladin has a good mixed offense and defense. For a good melee DPSer I recommend Devoted/Soulblade because dps is not just mean high single target damage, AOE is important too. As a Devoted/Soulblade u have really good burst damage thanks to SA, and the best AOE in beta as cleave and charge(bugged atm). Your AOE damage will make wizard cry

Quick question on one-handed weapon style
dunehunter replied to TheMetaphysician's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Single weapon bonus/style - only works when you have empty offhand; Sword shield style - only works when you have shield in offhand. -
[bug] dual wielding firearm and full attack abilities
dunehunter posted a question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
So when you DW firearms like pistol and blunderbuss, your reload time is reduced, however there is a bug where u can attack with both firearms with full attack abilities after one reload. -
Ah yeah! Thought they are kind of lich!
-
I also hope someone can make a tactical mod like the one we have in bg2 for DF, the liches in DF feels really meh to me because they cast too slow. Hope they will be buffed in the real game or at least modder can make them stronger.

They already nerfed the assassin didnt they? Assassinate Critical Hit damage reduced from +100% damage to +50% damage Deep Faith's base defensive bonus reduced from +15 to +12 (deity scaling unchanged) Both can be found here https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/96551-backer-beta-update-3-patch-notes/ Edit: I also find it weird that they are balancing NPC only abilities like this... Steel Garrote Lay on Hands is now a 2 point cost ability.

Yeah also it seems the spells of Woedica priest are already in the game, and I'd like to play both subclasses because they sounds very interesting The choking LoH and spiritual claws which benefits from monk transcendent suffering
-
That depends. Novice's Suffering was also not altering base damage in PoE but adding a flat damage bonus that scaled with MIG. But because of that weord mechanic grazes and also Carnage did nearly the same damage as hits and crits - which resulted in a reliable damage output with low acc. Everything you needed to do was buffing MIG. It was gimmicky but no trash at all. Jojobobo showed a barb in WMII with Novice's Suffering and it was pretty good. Now I haven't tried to do that with Monastic Unarmed Training and don't know if it can be used in the same way, but I think it's too early to say that it's trash - I mean unless you tested that and still say it's trash of course. Yep, it gives you an additive damage bonus to your fist, so if your fist has low basic damage it is not very good.
