[Merged] Cooldown Thread
Hiro Protagonist II replied to Ieo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Standing-Still spamming is going to make the game worse. This mega-dungeon they're planning means that after you complete one level, you will just Stand-Still spam on every level and never run out of spells, before going down to the next level. In the IE games, the only way to get the spells back is take the chance of sleeping in the dungeon and possibly get attacked.- 661 replies

[Merged] Cooldown Thread
Hiro Protagonist II replied to Ieo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
So with a cool down, I have an infinite number of fireball spells. I just need to wait for the cool down to reset. With the vancian system, I have a limited amount of fireballs I can memorise. In the IE Games, there was a delay (essentially a cool down) between spamming fireballs. Unless the cool down is quite long, I don't really see any difference other than I have an infinite amount of fireballs now instead of a limited amount of fireballs. After a battle, you will just sit there and let your cool downs reset which seems a waste of time. Sleeping in the IE games just made it faster to get your spells back. Go down to the next level of the dungeon? Nope, I'll just sit here for a couple of minutes for my cool downs to reset. Atleast in the IE games, if you took the chance of sleeping, you might be attacked.- 661 replies

I would want to know pretty much straight away when I identified something as to what it does. Or I would just refer to the Strategy Guide to find out what the item does. I couldn't play a computer game with getting little bits of information on what a weapon does.

Boxes are quite expensive because you need to work with a printer on how to make the box. There are many different types of boxes. Is it going to be a Straight Tuck End (STE) or Reverse Tuck End (RTE) box? You have to work out the dimensions and the printer will have to adjust their machinery to accomodate those dimensions. Then they have to have the outside of the box printed with graphics before it's assembled. Usually the printer will do some samples before they go full production. And some of the samples might not be up to standard and have to go back for changes. My brother has had boxes made for his business and was telling me all about it. It's quite costly.

I agree. There should be some stretch goals at the 3 and 4 million mark now. There needs to be some stretch goals where it may be possible to reach but likely won't be able to. Even if Obsidian doesn't reach 4 million, it's something we can see. I wouldn't mind seeing a stretch goal for a future expansion pack at 5 million and the expansion pack can be released 8 months later. At least show us something with some distant stretch goals instead of a couple hundred thousand instead.

This is a contentious topic if people had to choose between which they prefer more. BG1 or BG2? Some prefer the first while others prefer the second. It may be a little disappointing going back to the first since you're played the second as the mystery and intrigue of who you are is gone. My preference is BG1 with its simplicity and feel D&D is at its best with low level 1-8 characters where you're dreaming about high level powers.

Fishing
Hiro Protagonist II replied to Stuttery G's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Lets get some of the most pointless features from other games that keep you tied up from progressing throughout the game. Adventuring and completing a quest? No, I'm too busy at a lake fishing and hoping I'm going to pull out an item that I can craft. -
I want to see seasons. Yes, that's right. I want to see Summer, Spring, Autumn and Winter. If I arrive in a city in Summer and then come back to it 6 months later (in game time), then I expect it to be winter with all the stuff that comes with winter. Same with flowers blossoming in Spring and things changing in Autumn.

Well let's look at the first mod you've quoted. Sword Coast Strategems 1. you get to choose all NPC weapon proficiencies when they join 2. you can skip the Candlekeep tutorial and just get the experience and treasure. 3. Reintroduce potions of extra-healing 4. Allow Yeslick to use axes 5. Move Boo out of quick access and into Minsc's pack etc My response? 1. Lets make the NPCs OP than they are. Great stuff. 2. Why not skip anything you like and get the experience and treasure? Hey, I'm too lazy to actually play the game to get the xp and treasure by actually doing it. 3. Potions of extra-healing? Yep, just add all that game breaking and OP items. 4. Another example to make a NPC OP. 5. Yep, another way to make Minsc OP by freeing up a slot. He's already OP, you don't need to move Boo. etc I can list more game breaking and OP way for items and NPCs but I'll stop at five.

A dog companion?
Hiro Protagonist II replied to bonarbill's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'd rather a familiar for your mage like in BG2 than a dog companion. But also make them useful than just sitting in your back pack. -

You can link paypal with your bank account. When you make a payment, the money is taken from your bank account. No need for credit or debit cards. -
A lot of misinformation on the internet where people believe that Project Eternity is using the Infinity Engine.

Finishing Moves

Mortal Kombat style with Fatality animations in slow motion from multiple angles - no thanks. Similar/updated death animations from BG1 & 2 / Fallout 1 & 2 please.
