  1. Loot everything as long as it makes sense. Gold/goods/armor/weapons/etc from humans, pelts/bone/"crafting materials"/etc from animals. Otherwise having it restricted or unhooked just makes the experience a bit frustrating and senseless.
  2. I suspect when they give out the surveys for all the stuff we pledged for like addons and such. I suspect this will be quite a survey .
  3. I wonder if the concept of soul and "murdering" of the soul is going to be handled in Project Eternity. Is there something that happens that allows the player to alter or disfigure the soul of a person that is killed in the game? I do wonder what issues of soul and the concept of violence/murder/etc will be in the game.
  4. I don't know the whole translation thing since my first language is english. It could be that Obsidian hasn't been able to find a group that is willing to do the translation before the game is finalized. That could be part of the issue. I don't know what a game company has to go through to do translations since I suspect that is normally handled through a publisher. Since they are currently planning to self publish this game then it takes a bit more resources to track down and agree to some sort of contract for translation. At least that's what I'd think they'd have to deal with. I'm not in their line of business so this is all heresay. I hope another update from Obsidian will help answer concerns for various groups on subjects like these.
  5. I back this statement. I like the artwork but really I want them to go fullspeed on development.
  6. ugh, such a hard choice.... Well for a PC game I'd choose one of the BG titles. For the console, I'm really partial to the Shadow Heart series especially the first one.
  7. I totally agree with this thread. Free exploration made BG a lot of fun. Also I liked that when you discovered an important location it would show up on your in-game map. I loved that aspect. I hope something like this is incoporated into Project Eternity.
  8. I agree there with having a separate chat client. I can't wait for a seperate hidden forums for beta testing Project Eternity.
  9. You also have to remember that some of those CAME from BG1. So it's kind of like seeing the same companions again. More of a family then a companion by that time.
  10. Good question. Another one for me in the same vein is when they die what happens to the soul? Considering that Obsidian has been refering to souls in aspect to the game, how do these concepts factor into the game?
  11. Yeh BG had a lot of playable characters but I think just a bit too many in my opinion. I rarely used all of them and often some didn't stay with your character long. It was more of a PC that came and left for certain story aspects. I haven't played BG1 in such a long time though so I'm probably simplifying it some.
  12. As a recap of our stretch goals, here is what you have added to make Project Eternity bigger and better: 11 classes 6 races 8 companions A huge mega dungeon of at least 10 levels (and possibly 11 or 12 by the time this is done!) Player house A stronghold Two big cities And much more. From Update #25 on the Project Eternity Kickstarter. It just means that they are committed to 8 companions which I said in an earlier post. However they may add more as time procedes. EDIT: yeh I know the dungeon is at 15 levels as of now.
  13. I just miss being able to chat in "real time" with other interesting people. The forums are a much slower and laborous method of communication. Oh well. At least we can still communicate .
  14. In BG1, the "expansion" areas were optional and you could load into the expansion areas after you finished BG1 main campaign. Or you had the option to play the expansion areas with the rest of the game. I perfer this kind of option. Unless the expansion is suppose to be a continuation of the main storyline. It all depends on what they plan for the expansion. Frankly for me it's too early to tell.
  15. This is kind of misleading because even with Tales of the Sword Coast you weren't required to replay the game. In fact. "If the player has already finished Baldur's Gate, the game presents the option of loading a save game which places the player character (and party) in Ulgoth's Beard. Ulgoth's Beard acts as a hub for the new quests introduced by Tales of the Sword Coast." From the Wikipedia. I remember doing this when ToSC came out too.
  16. Don't forget George Ziets is involved with the lore and companion work too.
  17. Personally, I think if they discover a need for another companion during the development I hope they consider writing it in. I'd rather have companions that make sense for the story instead of having a lot of do nothing much companions. Considering Obsidian is aware of this which is why they only have comitted to 8 companions. So I reitterate, if there is a need for more companions they I hope they consider it.
  18. I also hope Obsidian does a more realistic look instead of an idealistic based approach. I have love their concept art for Cadegund and Sagani. I personally don't "like" cadegund but Sagani looks pretty to me. I will go with that overly used statement "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." To me some "plain" women are beautiful. And some "beautiful" women are just not. I think Obsidian realizes this and will try to make the women as real as their classes allow for.
  19. It's really hard to read a big wall of text. If you actually put a little bit of effort to make it easy for me to follow your thoughts I would respond more to your concerns. Anywho from what my fellow repliers have said, I just say let Obsidian do the work. Can any of us really name a game were everything about it was perfect? Or it could have been better if? Honestly I can't think of any game like that. Even the failicies of a game can make it amazing. I believe that Obsidian has every right to make the game the way they envision it. We also have every right as "backers" to voice our opinions and frankly they have every right to ignore us since we never made a Contract with them. They are being very generous by listening to us. I appreciate the very transparent communication so far even with the various mistakes made along the way.
  20. I think that was due to some miscommunication between development areas and not being together on certain ideas. Also that's why near the latter part of the campaign Obsidian tried very hard to reassure pledgers of their concerns. Although it didn't help with every one of them =\.
  21. Aww QA. The misunderstood and under appreciated QA. Don't worry too much. Obsidian has already said that they plan to use as much of the money that was brought in after hitting 3.5 million to go towards QA and polish and such. I am confident that they will stick to their word too.
  22. Could be sooner for those with Beta access, at which point these forums will run with blood. More likely, though, the game will be delayed a bit: it's a much larger undertaking now than it was when the original project was framed. I hope they NDA those people. Or apply duct tape. Maybe both? Awww come on.. Don't you want to be teased mercilessly?
  23. Aye, That's what really put me off about DX:HR.. Going through a good portion of the beginning doing stealth and such and then getting hit with a sledgehammer with a boss fight. I was like.. what. just happened...
  24. A parrot for a cipher.. i dunno about that... awwwk... >.>
