  1. If you don't get it there, it shows up later... in Adra Dragon's cave. The joke works better there, I think I suppose the orlan baby ending is kind-of a secret, too. Perhaps kidnapping babies is the pantaloons of PoE... So, baby armor in PoE 3? Maybe you can put the kid into the pet slot?
  2. True, but if they ever got a greenlight for BG3, they are going to need people to put it together. Obsidian is an obvious partner for that kind of scenario.
  3. I think it is more likely for Beamdog to strike a deal with Obsidian to cooperate on making Baldur's Gate III.
  4. I hoping that each expansion adds 4 levels apiece, totaling in 20. Sequel can kick it up 15, with its expansion for another 15. So 50 levels. I want my characters to ridiculously powerful, with divine opposition to match. Oh, and the ability export/import characters for the campaigns.
  5. I suspect that the biggest bugbears would be sorted out with the expansions or sequel. The first iteration of most series is apt to have growing pains. In any case, the game definitely doesn't match up to the old Infinity Engine games in its current state. There are too many bugs, there are inconsistencies for the writing and quests, stronghold isn't up to BG2 standards, ect. Still, I am glad to have backed the game - Obsidian has always been filled with potential, and sometimes they can be brilliant. Giving them a chance to do so is my pleasure. No different from other developers, like Nigoro for La-Mulana 2. I think the next couple of years will be very fun.
  6. There is an even odder scenario: You can massacre the Doernohlds...or whatever they are called, without any genuine repercussions. No one at the general assembly pointed out that the people who last entered the Doer's mansion walked out blood red. Get rich, with minimal trouble.
  7. I use POTD difficulty since it is supposed to generate more enemies. For me, that is great because I like standing atop a pile of dead, with trophies (gear) to supplement my budget. Mind, it is tedious to sort through what to sell, since we lack a junk section and designation for loot.
  8. For me, coin is scarce. I spend a ton of it on uniques, upgrades, and the stronghold.
  9. I prefer character classes to be powerful, rather than weak. Hopefully Obsidian would feel the same, and largely focus on improving the weaker classes.
  10. Blegh. Repairing things has always been tedious in videogames. Didn't appeal to me in STALKER, was irritating in System Shock 2, and wasted time in New Vegas. Leave this nuisance to modders.
  11. At the very least, Obsidian ought to make it so that characters arrive at the stronghold after you finish a transition, not before. Short of developing psychic powers or savescumming, the player's only choice is to transition into every location between point A and B.
  12. I really don't get why people get their sense of accomplishment from doing tedious legwork. These days, I start rolling my eyes whenever people suggest to remove quality-of-life functions from a game.
  13. I want the stronghold to stay. While there are issues, it is more than possible for Obsidian to make the stronghold a nifty part of the game.
  14. Do they? Final Fantasy is the only example I can think of. Try "Food Fight". I am pretty sure that would set a suitably low bar. Mind, it is more on account of gross incompetence, rather than just being uncanny. I don't mind 3D in of itself, but I find that the creators of such films can make some scenes very...noisy, in a visual sense. Sometimes there is too much going on, and I can't focus.
  15. I think that Obsidian shouldn't have made the player a watcher. Rather, they should have given those powers to a permanent companion who can reveal his or her visions to other people. This way Obsidian could have made the companion become increasingly mad and broken as time went on, evoking empathy or cruelty from the player who acts as a guardian. As it is, the status of watcher is very disconnected to the player, since Obsidian has to make the player central to the plot - without taking away their ability to make choices or changing their character. My reason for why the player has to protect the Watcher Companion: The biawac sheared off a portion of their souls, and the ceremony by Thaos had bonded them together. If one dies, the other follows.
  16. I do not see why monks have to be considered "odd" in a world filled with dragons, guns, magic, undead, and soul-sucking machinery.
  17. Eh. I think it has to do more with the complexity of the genre than the graphics. Anyhow, I personally prefer it if Pillars 2 switched over to 3D.
  18. BG2 is more modern and popular than BG1, many people still had working copies. BG1 by contrast is less compatible than modern hardware, so not as many people could replay it - opening up a bigger niche for BG1 Enhanced to occupy. Of course, BG1 Enhanced being released first was also likely to slake people's thirst for Baldur's Gate. I expect BG2 Enhanced to have a long tail, since it is far more future-proofed than the original version of BG2.
  19. Go to the Salty Mast, get a ring from the drunk, and talk to the shopkeeper at the club. He sells unique items, apparently stocking any that you would have missed by doing quests in a way that doesn't reward you the item.
  20. Engines are not just about the end-user's experience, it is also for the actual development of a game. They are expensive to create and maintain, which is why Unreal, Cry Engine, and Unity are popular: They take away the time and expense needed to make an engine from scratch. Saying things like "It runs fast on the user's computer", misses important aspects like: "How long does it take to customize?", "Can it import asset X?", "How much skill is needed to use it?", "Is the asset store fair and diverse?" and so on. Right now, the best thing for Obsidian to do is to use Unity for expanding Eternity 1, then choose the best engine for the next major project.
  21. For magic traps, I think Lore would be a suitable skill for detecting them. After all, lore can include deciphering runes or recognizing seals.
  22. Having a dedicated modding forum would be good, with sub-forums if it gets popular enough. Move the Unity Engine aspect from the Character Building section to Modding, as the current setup is an odd mix. After all, modders are more likely to talk about issues concerning Unity than character builders would.
