How old is everyone?
Theobeau replied to qstoffe's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
32 PST Should have considered a >30 and >40 choice; interesting to see how the upper end of the OBS fan base breaks down. -
PST While I spent many happy hours playing the BG and FO series, have fond memories of Arcanum, enjoyed NWN2 and KOTOR2, PST is my favourite cRPG. I had hoped that their KS project would be another PS game, even after Chris Avellone's comments about OBS not planning to do it. That said, was enthusiastic enough to make an early pledge, am more than happy with how PE is panning out, and pleased to see how much good will and interest there is out there in the gaming community for a decent cRPG.

Concur, a scripted day/night cycle would allow for increased immersion and for the devs the opportunity to put in time dependent missions or scenarios. That said, should add in a proper wait system as certain quests in BG1 required the party to be at a certain place at dusk without putting into a place a system where you could easily wait. Aside: As a modern RPG FO3 and F:NV both had a running day/night cycle and a easy way of waiting.

Character Saves Carrying Over?
Theobeau replied to cepukon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Good comments about choices carrying over actually having consequences. From memory the romance options from BG 2 to ToB carried over. It has been a while since I played the games but I remember being pleasantly surprised that these choices were remember. Hopefully NPC interactions, PC development and certain quest lines will carry through. However as pointed out earlier, major quest lines generally would have to follow clear pathways otherwise the writers would be spending lots of time fleshing out potentially conflicting pathways to the detriment of their writing. Again, from memory that was one justification quoted as to why the BW writers made fixed choices for certain story lines in ME3. -
Yes b/c it is a traditional feature of the IE games which PE is clearly stated to have evolved from. I would be very surprised if they don't make and appearance. Aside: I remember getting stuck of a few of them though my brain generally didn't work that when when I was playing at 1 o'clock in the morning....great times!

Tropes vs Women
Theobeau replied to Qorem's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Regarding this topic, Soulsource and Giantevilhead have far more eloquently put forward the points I wanted to make. The developers in question also have a very good track record when it comes to writing female characters. -
Where is everyone from
Theobeau replied to Sales101's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Currently a resident of Terra incognita, AKA Australia I'm a little surprised at how few fellow residents there are on the board. -
Agree with many posters about the potential trap that it all becomes grinding and rather dull. However if done right, it could be an interesting side feature. Whoever mentioned random weeds earlier; perhaps in the world of PE some of those weeds wil also work on THC, serotonin and dopamine neuroreceptors like certain plant products do in our world......could make for an rather fun side quest!

Re-posting to say thank you for the option of a DRM free GOG version of the game. Yah!

Great feature of PST and something that would definitely give PE that "spiritual successor to Planescape" feel.

If not mentioned previously: 1. The ability to easily enter in the number of items to move via keyboard rather than pressing the up or down tab. - In the BG games you can enter the number but only after carefully putting your cursor into the small text box and then pressing it a few times to activate it b/c the first time never works). - Same goes for buying and selling equipment in the store 2. larger stacks than in the IE games (seriously 20 arrows in a bundle?) 3. If crafting is going to be a feature, a cleaner UI/ mechanism than F:NV where you had to go back original crafting station and start the menu again after making only one item) Cheers

Double post from the KS comments but it may be worthwhile for OBS to consider a $200 tier; I can't be the only of the ~1500 $140 pledgers who would increase their pledge but baulk at an additional $100. PS: Long time fan of IE games and BI/OBS titles and excited by PE enough to back and sign up to forums. Very much looking forward to this title.
