  1. Lilarcor stems from Baldur's Gate 2. The finest talking sword ever. It's sad it didn't have any formal edumucation though.
  2. I hate when I have to say that, but, speak for yourself. I could hardly spend my 26 euros to back the game while I wouldn't care about game prices 20 years ago. Things differ in parts of the world and times of the world. And, in general, I always believed games were expensive, though some totally worth it when you can play them for years and years but the majority of them are just to spend a week with them tops for 50+ euros. Lame imo. Well then the alternative might be no game at all. Call it lame or whatever you want, but making games is like any other business. There are people behind it that need to feed themselves and potentially a family.
  3. That's why a refund function is very good. Steam has it and I'm sure other digital retailers have it too.
  4. This is a very valid point. The employees of Obsidian need to put food on the table and they can't do that by creating products that don't sell well enough to cover the costs. So if we, the players, want to avoid micro transactions and the likes in RPG:s, I think we should get used to the thought of paying a higher price for the base game. The price of the base game today is very low if you compare to what a game cost 20 years ago.
  5. I think we are so used these days to games being delayed, so when a game does release according to plan we get almost surprised about it. It's up to each and everyone to either be happy about it or become suspicious. I prefer happy in this case.
  6. Pretty sure 'soon' is in all caps because that's the rule when making memes. I'm thinking it was irony.
  7. That would be awesome if you (or someone else) did!
  8. I'm from Sweden so I thought it was super important to make a correction.
  9. THQ Nordic is actually a Swedish company though. But they have a subsidiary in Vienna, that is true.
  10. Way past the deadline. I hope your item makes it anyway but don't count on it. :/
  11. Well, games have become much more complicated over the years. You can't compare a game made in 1989 to PoE2. They were not more polished back then, just a lot more simple than compared today. That's why in some cases you could live without a patch.
  12. When was it ever like that? There's always been patching. Even before the general introduction of Internet. They sent floppydisks to you with patches via the regular mail. So yes, there will be patches. And it's a good thing because it will mean a better product for all of us.
  13. That's how it was handled for PoE, so most likely yes.
  14. I think there were more forum persona integrated into ToB than just Gromnir. One or more of these were annoyed that BioWare didn't ask regarding their inclusion into the game. That's where a lot of the flak came from. But otherwise I agree with you, it was seamlessly integrated in a very good way.
  15. From a thread of 2015... I thought the inclusion of Gromnir in ToB was awesome. Very fitting. A shame it had such a backlash. I remember Dave Gaider saying on the old BioWare forums (or if it was twitter, or both, I can't remember now) that it was such a negative feedback that he'd never go back that route again (if it were up to him).
  16. The game market has changed a lot in the intervening years. A lot of people have come to expect full voice acting from big RPGs, and are turned off when its not there. Part of it is the fact that a lot of people who play RPGs now have grown up in the interval between the IE games and now, the fact that RPGs have become more mainstream (for both good and ill), and that full voice acting has become the mainstream norm. So no, I don't think that is a given. You're thinking of AAA action RPG's. PoE is not that. It's niche.
  17. I never really cared for Sand in NWN2. Kept him out of my party for much of the game. He didn't really make an impression on me (compared to some of the other NPCs that is).
  18. Why hasn't Jan Jansen been mentioned? I love his stories in BG2. So yeah, I like humour in RPG's, just as I enjoy darker tones too. A mix of everything is best I suppose.
  19. And there You go, missing my point again. Did I ever said that something like that happened in PoE? Maybe my English is messy (messy, get it?), but I've only posted my opinion on where the limits of "SJW writing" should be. How come You came to think that I have some hidden "examples" is beyond me. Ta-ta. This is a forum about Pillars of Eternity 2. What's the point of bringing up examples that have no relevance to the PoE series? There seems to be a legit fear of "SJW writing" making it's way into the game and so far no one has been able produce any actual examples of what that might be. I'm just trying to call bullcrap on the entire phenomena in regards to PoE.
  20. This. I can only think of one case where that has happened; in Siege of Dragonspear (which I believe was adressed too). But has it ever happened in PoE? Not to my recollection and therefor I find it highly unlikely to happen in PoE2 either. So again, come back with a realistic "SJW writing" example. I have seen none so far.
  21. That is backwards. You started off by talking about majorities and minorities, but then point to what the devs created. That means you accept anything as long as it was part of the world building and it also means majorities and minorities is, in your case, irrelevant. At any case, I have yet to see a definition of "SJW writing". I see no reason for the alarmist posts.
  22. Which basically means the writers of the game can include whatever they want. Not much to discuss then.
  23. SJWs represent the liberties of minorities. I'm all for equality for everyone, but minorities are - well - in minority. As such they should be present in minority (if at all) in movies, games, books etc., unless the foundation of the work says otherwise. By that logic basically all (human) characters in PoE2 should have an asian appearance in PoE2. They are the majority of earth's population after all.
  24. But have Obsidian ever shied away from such topics? I do not think so. I think it was stated fairly early on in the development of PoE that they would pursue any type of story and topics they wanted in the game. Nothing was really off the table by default. I believe the same goes for PoE2. It is hard to understand what you are trying to say.
