  1. You do realize that having a female queen once in a while has nothing to do with having a female dominated society? I was making a joke but fine: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazons Glory Season by David Brin is an interesting concept for a female-dominated, pastoral society. I could see a similar society existing based on magical manipulation. Have a read, you might enjoy it.
  2. Understandable. It was a busy month.
  3. It'd be interesting to find a Sappho-like character somewhere in the world; a female Chanter who is talented and not easily characterized.
  4. I don't recall there being too many multicultural cities in medieval Europe. Perhaps Constantinople? It seems like a modern concept; people just didn't travel all that much back then. What would you use as a model?
  5. That's a good question. Games I've enjoyed replaying usually have a lot of side quests and places to explore. Sandbox games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 were really good that way; I could replay them in a completely different style and enjoy the experience without too much sense of repetition. I also enjoyed replaying the BG series more than the IWD for similar reasons. The diverse character mix and social interactions in BG* allowed for a unique experience each time through and it didn't feel quite as linear.
  6. In the old AD&D days, it used to mean that you have a land and title. The stronghold was used to project that land, and you would receive levies from the peasants.
  7. I must admit to cringing at some of the suggestions made in this forum and thinking, "Dear God, I hope the developers don't take that seriously. It's the most bone-headed gaming idea I've ever heard. What has this person been playing?" Shrug. Fortunately, I very much doubt that the developers will adopt these ideas unless they make a lot of sense.
  8. Yeah, I definitely live with good and long instead of perfect and short.
  9. Maybe they're working on the real art?
  10. Levels don't equal depth. But hopefully we'll get both.
  11. Well, all I can hope for is that they make at least 5 companions that I don't end up loathing. 'Nuff said.
  12. I don't think they really need to exaggerate the unpleasant realities of combat in a streetfighter-like manner, but otherwise I'm not particular. Ragdoll physics should be fine, I think.
  13. In the filesystem world that functionality (or something like it) is called "Journalling", although that might be confusing to players. Perhaps "Instant Replay" would be readily identifiable by many?
  14. The developers are all busy right now. Please stand by....
  15. Sound. Even the best synths can't reproduce the same exact quality that a live performer/instrument can. Okay, thanks. Maybe I've just been listening to electronica for too long then.
  16. Eight is enough. Hmm, where have I heard that before?
  17. Oddly, this whole project has me more interested in the BGEE than I was before. How weird is that?
  18. The answer may depend a lot on how in-depth the original game is going to be.
  19. I really enjoy music, but I'm not an expert on it. Please could somebody explain what the benefit is of using live instrumentation? Thank you.
  20. Yeah, you think they should, but they really more than often don't. And they are coupled with arrogance and shortsightendness. Note that it is very easy to misread the intent of somebody's written message; you're overlaying your own emotional context and social filters on top of what they put down. What you are reading as arrogance and shortsightedness may be something else entirely. Digital diplomacy is a difficult skill to master; I know I'm still working on it.
  21. Plus they'll keep your lap warm on those cold stormy nights on the moors. Just don't ever try crossing a body of water.
  22. Yes, another poll with biased and missing responses. It's certain to generate the results you want to see.
  23. Is that what happens when you drop a gelatinous cube in the town well? Just curious.
