  1. Tastes vary, I guess. I've tried Planescape Torment three times and couldn't really get interested long enough to stick with it. Still don't see what the fuss is about; it's just an oddball setting with few redeeming qualities. PT wouldn't even make my top 25 list. Baldur's Gate should be high on their list instead--not just BG2.
  2. There was a rational reason given for Wizards not to wear certain armor in an old game called DragonQuest. It posited that iron interfered with the process of casting spells. Hence the Wizards in that game were limited to using armor made of bronze or leather. It's game-world specific of course, and there's no reason why other RPGs need to follow suit. But it does make for an interesting mechanic: if you want to prevent Wizards from escaping justice, you clap them in irons.
  3. Nice to see an indie sci-fi game like this. I'd like to give it try once my gaming backlog is cleared.
  4. Speaking of class-specific items, some class-locked optional enhancements would add some flavor. They just need to make sure the enhancements are removable, allowing others to be inserted instead.
  5. There were action icons that also served as countdown timers in the Drakensang game; I like them.
  6. Basing a game on Dragonspear Castle is not promising in my book. The Hordes of Dragonspear module was one of the gawd awful releases that TSR ever put out.
  7. I vote we eradicate all the so-called "humorous" images that include the word "when"...
  8. I suppose this will offend somebody...
  9. We're hoping they also make little humming sounds as they move about...
  10. Trump will keep a large cadre of comedians and satirists well employed for his four year term. That will help the economy.
  11. I binge watched The Last Kingdom during Thanskgiving break. It was surprisingly good, and I hope they continue the story.
  12. Been there, done that. The Seahawks used to play in the NFC Worst and they made the playoffs with a 7-9 record in 2010. (Then we beat the 11-5 Saints in the playoffs. )
  13. I think they could just handle that sort of thing with Attribute/Skill synergies. Perception/Stealth => spot hidden features; Perception/Mechanics => spot traps; Dexterity/Athletics => dodge a boulder; Intellect/Survival => herbalism, &c.
  14. He's running out of thyme... and switching to oregano.
  15. What's a Global Game Award? I've never heard of it before. Is it respected in the industry, or just another web site award?
  16. I think it depends on whether Bethesda views the negative criticism as damaging their brand. But, as was pointed out to me, sales figures for FO4 are quite rosy, so it may not be an issue. If they do make such an offer, it would likely be at a point in time when the follow-on game release would no longer impact the sales figures. In fact, they could probably make the offer now, given how long it takes to produce such a game.
  17. New Vegas lacks the core gameplay of the series ~as per the Bethesda leash they were on while making it. New Vegas is a superb FO3 spinoff; and built on FO3 ~because (I expect) it had to be, to get approval. NV was a wonderful ½ step back towards Fallout 2, but it was still FO3 under the ho Given the amount of criticism that Bethesda receives regarding the differences between FO3 and FO4, I have to suspect that they have a very strongly disincentive to ever make that mistake again. I.e. why would they ever license out the game rights if it just results in endless grousing about their own game? To me, it would take a good deal of money to overcome that unfair stigma.
  18. I'd like to see something different, like a Fallout from a supermutant perspective, or an open world setting upon a generation star ship built by scientists to escape the impending war.
  19. Yet another thread 'preaching to the converted' crowd. I'd rather have both than one or the other. Both Fallout 3 & Fallout 4 had their strengths and weaknesses; FO4 had some mechanical improvements over FO3, but I enjoyed FO3 more. Take it for what it's worth.
