  1. And thus, history repeats itself... *Game Over screen* Ingenious rise to power I think. All he need to do is suppress the masses so they can't stage a massive riot. It's easier to do now, since they are exhausted after the last uprising (Arab Spring). At the very least, I hope he's a benevolent ruler.
  2. Hey, it's war, all is fair. The strong will prey the weak, just like in the wild. Or, If Palestinian don't want to keep losing and dying left and right, they should: a. Lift, bro. Get buffed. Ask China, UAE, or Russia to back them, which I don't think they would anyway, since there's nothing worthwhile for them to take. b. Surrender and see their land assimilated without conflict. Kinda not cool, but at least nobody dies in war. c. Maintain status quo by declaring cease fires after each conflict, which are quite futile I'd say. They won't even tire Israel's military, and Israel will slowly take their lands through diplomacy or by force during the conflict. In the end, the difference in power and resources are just too great. Realistically, Hamas just can't win against a country that survived Yom Kippur war alone. Well, not alone, with help of USA, but still, it's a feat. And that's in 1973. I don't want to think how one-sided 2012 weaponry against cold war relics.
  3. Why not return to ye olde medieval beliefs then :D? A mischievous, often dangerous, magical intelligent being. But medieval-style elves are tiny, it wouldn't sell to CRPG crowd as a companion. Might need a few adjustment. I, for one, would like to see a remorseless elven spellcaster and prankster Like, Mel Gibson level of practical pranks.
  4. Maybe not too minor then, or for even more lulz, blend Edward with Jacob XD A ripped, chaste sparkling vampire black knight... that spends most of his time shirtless...
  5. But this vampires, will proboblt not serve as npc, or companions but as monsters, so in the end if sparkling vampires will be includead even as a eater egg, project eternity, will be forver marked as that game that bashe stupid old unpopular teen book, Then why must this vampire be a monster o.O? It could be joke NPCs, or story-related character with his/her mini-episode. Just because Obsidian use Twilight formula, doesn't mean they have to bash Twilight with it. My suggested goal is to attract Twilight fans for the money after all
  6. How about a Persian-like dressed monks following Catholic-like dogmas and fights with Shaolin kungfu. This is a fantasy realm, I'm sure they can invent mountainous Persian-like regions with Kungfu Pope.
  7. To add to the discussion, I don't understand why we should hate the idea of sparkling vampire because some lousy books are using it. In fact we should embrace them, because they are proven popular (or notorious) and improve that formula. For example, bring sparkling vampires in-game as a shoutout or a joke, like make them a unique subspecies of vampires. But as a twist, make them likeable, three dimensional characters that are not wimps in general. Rabid Twilight fans can't say "rip-off" because these vampires are unique, very little in number, and obviously a shout out. Best case scenario, Eternity might also attract Twilight fans, which equals profit. Role playing fans in general will also appreciate the three dimensional character. Also, Eternity will be known as the first game that get sparkling vampires right. Win-win-win!
  8. OH MAAAAN! This! I can already see the game in my head.... >A hater is creating hate topic at your blog, pointing that your music is ripping off from a certain obscure 1988 band. Fortunately it's midnight, there are no replies yet. >What will you do? 1. Ignore, because it's pure coincidence (The rumor spread uncontrollably at 3chan, -100 fame, Companion Joe left the band.) 2. Deny and try to explain. (Some fans think it's a damage control, but thankfully your other tunes are quite original, so people believe your explanation and glad you're honest with them. -10 fame) 3. Dismiss the troll with alternative website account (Your efforts does little in front of the sheer amount of haters, but at least you successfully planted the idea of coincidence, -50 fame.) 4. [Courage 40] Delete the thread. (For some odd reasons or dumb luck, there are no retaliations from the TC. Maybe he/she died in an accident or heart attack somewhere, -0 fame.)
  9. Naturally, to have better survival chance? Humans are conditioned to work in teams after all.
  10. Oh sorry, I misunderstand the question, I thought it was faith in general sense, not religious one Well, the best answer I can give you is, because we can. Faith does not require data/evidence/proof, therefore I can believe in anything. In fact, since science can't disprove the existence of God either, or model It mathematically, some people took it as a sign that it's still cool to believe in God
  11. My answer is, I do need faith, because without it my life would be a torture. An example: My mom will not poison my pasta. Wait. How do I know my mom will not poison my pasta? I don't have any proof! Oh wait, I'm his precious son of course she won't... no, no, my dad has just lost his job and he can't support me and three brothers, she might think that poisoning me will help, since I'm 34 and crippled. Well, I suppose it's possible but, but that's just nuts! But wait! These are desperate times, people are desperate, maybe they're planning to do suicide together? It happened before in the news after all, families doing suicide together. Wait no, that's just stupid! ...well maybe, I can't prove that it's stupid either. Without faith, I will live in doubt for the rest of my life =_= While doubting something does have its merits, believing something without proof (faith) is important part of life too.
  12. Being condescending/arrogant/jerk is not "charismatic." You're mixing "flashy" with "charismatic" Charisma, according to Oxford: compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others A good charismatic villain should actually make you consider to join their cause, directly or indirectly. A charismatic person doesn't have to be a smooth talker, a pragmatic brute can be charismatic too. I find this kind of villain rare in JRPGs. In fact, most of them try as hard as they can to annoy the player in every move they make. That's just far from charismatic, I think. However, a good villain doesn't have to be charismatic. Charismatic villain is not always a good villain, some of them are very campy. JRPGs I played: FF1-13, Tactics Tales of Eternia, Legendia, Abyss, Innocence Star Ocean 1, 2, 3 Shadow Hearts 1, 2, 3. Xenogears Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross Grandia 3 Disgaea The World Ends With You Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, 365/2 days, Coded, BBS, DDD JRPGs with charismatic villains: Shadow Hearts 2, FF Tactics, FF12, Tales of the Abyss.
  13. Don't! Please! No! Stop! I'd rather have keyboard-wrenching difficult battles. Unwinnable encounters are frustrating, especially if your opponent is smug and you can positively defeat them, but can't just because this is unwinnable.
  14. As long as it's not Final Fantasy over-the-top attempt to be cool, I'm fine with some exaggerations and unrealistic elements
  15. Daang, that romance answer! Avellone sounds like he had extreme breakups before
  16. Chinese and Japanese? Wow, that would be hell to localize. Cultural differences and all , but I'll tick them anyway.
  17. Oh yeah? What's that based on? Well as you can see, there are purple, red, green, and orange colors, which are colors you can find in reality. Then there are lines, which you can also find in reality. As why are those lines bending in such way, it depends on how you control your brush... in reality. There.
  18. Every art is based on reality, so yeah, might as well make a more realistic world map.
  19. Only one: - You're not the chosen one, you're just somebody who happens to be at the right place and the right time. If willing, somebody else can do the job you're tasked with. For example, you're tasked to liberate city X, but you stalled too long (5-10 quests). By the time you get to city X, the problem has been solved by the rebels and mercenaries from inside the city no thanks to you. I'm not saying that every quests have to be like this, but 5-10 missable quests are not bad. Maybe you can even skip the final quest and leave it to another adventurers
  20. That's because Alduin is a crap villain who never presents any real threat. His motivation is also a laughable cliche "I want to destroy the world.... cause that's what I do". A good villain is always marked by a few specific things. 1: You encounter them early and are given reason to not like them quickly. 2: They continue to show up regularly and actively work against you through the whole game, not just part of it. 3: They have a motivation that makes sense and can be at least partially related to, and their goal has to be something sane. 3.5: Due to their motivation they may not consider themselves a villain, or possibly just think "the ends justify the means" and aren't worried about what it makes them. 4: By the end of the game the player actually WANTS to take them down. Make your villain fit that mold and be it a faction or an individual players will love the dude for it. New Vegas is a horrible example because other than Caesar and the bums who directly screwed you no one is actually a real "bad guy". Also Caesar never actually did anything to "you" personally, you just knew he was a bad guy that was bad news for basically everyone from simple observation and common sense. You were never given a reason to personally go gunning for him. To be honest, I actually like Alduin's motive. It's not often you have force of nature as your nemesis in video games. Too bad he's soooooooooo weak and laughable XD. And your good villain list is too rigid and inflexible. 1. Why can't I like my villain? We might be friends working on different sides, we like each other because we both eat rare baby steak, and we have to destroy each other because it's business. 2. Why must they show up regularly? Why can't my villain be a puppetmaster who unintentionally destroyed your life because his/her plans has unavoidable collateral damage? 3. Why can't my villain be crazy? He/she might just want to burn the world because he/she don't like cats. History proved that people destroyed each other over the pettiest reasons, like some guy named Adolf Hitler.
  21. To be honest, this is why Caesar is very endearing. If he's gone full evil, nobody will took him seriously. Instead, he took a polite persona and all of his "evil" (sorry, I don't believe in good and evil) deed is brutally effective in a war, making him a very interesting ally/adversary. Effective as in, NCR is way bigger than them and have more resources, why can a relatively small group like Caesar Legion fight them back? Here's some thought about Caesar from Josh Sawyer: http://www.formsprin...998024811254129 Dark grey is indeed the new grey for villains
  22. Another cup of tea thread! This time it's about relationship between you and your favorite oppositions. If your choice is not included and/or if your relationship is one-sided, feel free to comment
