  1. that child is going to haunt my nightmare
  2. the feature is mostly there to give the player an extra level of control over their playing choice. Do you want a squad of 6 paladins running around the land righting wrongs? OK traps will probably kill you but OK. Personally it's not a feature I'll use, I think character interaction is what often makes these games. I can understand really disliking a certain npc's personality but liking there skillset and remaking them as a mute. You all have an npc you would love to mute.
  3. OK then Shield of the Order This worn and beaten shield was the symbol of an ancient Order. A collective of Knights, Wizards, Thieves and Madmen they united in a common goal. The restoration of an Ideal. Some say the orders time has passed, some believe they were merely a myth. One thing is certain this Obsidian shield is very real and the symbol of Ouroboros was painted recently.
  4. I had an idea of a weapon forged from souls that I posted somewhere else. She saw the knife it seemed small and poorly crafted. A simple wooden handle warped with age would make it awkward to wield. The blade itself seemed sharp enough but looked like it was made in a rush without much care. Initially she was going to ignore it, but something compelled her to pick it up. Once in her hand she was swarmed with emotion. The Sorrow was crushing. The Fear overwhelming. The Hate intoxicating. Her thoughts drowned out with cries for justice and revenge. A whole nation of voices screaming endlessly. This seemingly simple weapon had been forged in a time of desperation. People with no more hope gave the last thing they had. How many souls had been used to craft it? She would never know. She would never let it go. She would never stop till the blade was sated. What a shame the disaster had long since passed. The great enemy long dead. The hopeless nation forgotten in time. Now just a champion driven mad by angry souls demanding justice. The surrounding lands were doomed.
  5. minor repetitive strain injury nothing to worry about
  6. All you need to do to qualify if donate $8 or more on top of a pledge level. Post on this thread with your preferred title (check to make sure its not taken) If you have done both of those then just wait someone will get to you. They are lovely people and will help as soon as they can.
  7. was sure it would be. that will help speed me up quite a bit.
  8. yeah it seems obvious with hindsight really
  9. If I delete a message from the My Conversations Folder will the original recipient still receive it? I am sure I know the answer but wanted to ask before I acted. Just in case.
  10. I'd hate having some ancient ancestor lurking about my home telling me how I'm doing everything wrong and how things were better in their day. In a fantasy setting however it works. Thing were not better in your day, you died because people hadn't realised that cleaning a wound was a good idea. I live in a world where I can instantly communicate with people on the other side of the planet and men can jump from space and land safely.
  11. if you cant think of a title can I suggest Niccolado, Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobic of the Obsidian Order hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia is a fear of long words. Also a sick part of me wants to see LordCrash try to fit that on a sigil
  12. What a lovely story it was, random or not.
  13. ] didn't think so but quietly hoped
  14. Is it possible to PM multiple people at once using these forums? If so please tell me how will save me a lot of time. I appreciate any help offered.
  15. I voted yes however I think it should be kept within reason. Or I will have an alternative game with a group of manics who go around obliterating villages just to make the land a smoking pile. Setting fires just to watch the world burn.
  16. My advice to any new gm is to start small have a very small linear story set up with controlled combat conditions. Defending a town from an attack sort of Scenario. They cant escape and they cant avoid it. After your first session is done get a bit more creative, start to have avoidable combat scenarios and the potential of multiple quest lines. Always be aware your players will surprise you, in ways you cant think of yet they will try to ruin your plans. Sometimes even to their own detriment. If they are experienced role players they will view the gm with distrust. Feel free to use that to your advantage. For example a paranoid group will view the mundane with more suspicion than the sinister. Give lots of detail to seemingly innocent npc. Then have it do nothing. Watch them try and justify the murder of a simple town person for no other reason than they are suspicious. Then chase them across the nation as the paranoid murderers that that are,
  17. I recomend gm's use http://www.obsidianportal.com to help keep track of their npc's and setting. its a very useful tool. Plus its called Obsidian Portal come on what else do you need.
  18. If you want a really simple system to use I would advise 7th Sea its fun takes 12 seconds to explain combat and only uses 1 type of dice d10 I admittedly may be biased as I ran it a lot. The core system is very easy to use and combat is fast and manageable for the GM. With very minor tweaks you could switch the world to a more Arcanumish setting. If you need any help with it feel free to ask. I may have pdf's of the book hiding somewhere
  19. I do understand layering armour is how it did realistically work. How most games tend to do it is simply the higher armour value items automatically include this. crude example: Plate gives lets say 12 armour points Chain gives 7 and Leather 2. The chain itself only actually gives 3 but the leather is added to this. same way the plates only give 6 but the other 2 are added also. I don't think they need to explain this in anything but the games artwork. In a lot of fantasy games you can see the chain as part of plate but it is called plate armour not chain plus plates. It would be needlessly complicated and wouldn't add enough to the game to layer it. Especially when the art could show this is in effect potentially better than mechanics.
  20. While not confirmed at all, I am reasonable certain something like this will exist.
  21. They have basically said something like this will be utilised. Healers only heal at 50% or less, Mage only casts fireball when facing multiple oponents etc are flags I imagine existing for basic ai scripts. Dwarves auto drink all alcohol when idle for 9 seconds or more
  22. I like elements of random damage but there should be realistic minimums set. If I successfully hit someone with a sledge hammer. Even if they get lucky they are in a world of pain. Please note I do not promote the use of sledgehammer on people. Well not any more the police made it very clear it is frowned upon.
  23. Obsidian are pretty adamant that people in the kickstarter shouldn't have a game play edge over anyone else We should look better and shinier but we shouldn't actually hit harder. I agree completely and too many of the smaller game ks projects are not doing this. Which is basically punishing people for not pre-ordering a game.
  24. I vote 1 because I don't like to return to areas an have them empty. If a forest is named after a species of monster it makes sense they should in some manner always be there. "Yeah Dire-sheep forest used to have 12 dire-sheep in it but then an adventuring party on a stag night wiped them out" "Dire-sheep forest only had 12 of them? Its 400 square miles according to this book" "the trees are shaped like them, they are dire-sheep trees" "oh, that makes sense then... What about owl-goose lake?" "named during the reign of King Terrance the touched. everyone knows Owl-Geese live in the mountains."
  25. Not had any official word on it they have just said it will end soon. I could see it staying open and only keeping the digital rewards.
