Dream the impossible? dream
JayDGee replied to JayDGee's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
its the most successful gaming Kickstarter a couple of other projects made more money. The pebble watch I think winning outright. Best in category is pretty damn great. -
In-Game Advertising
JayDGee replied to Aedelric's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The creators always have the last say on any naming rights. otherwise rivals would promote there own game within it or rich trolls would be little b@st@rds and fill projects with filth. Although I can see big in game advertising being done like this in the future deliberately. As the AAA market becomes the AAAA market with ever more bloated budgets I could easily see a big publisher allowing a fast food chain to name a building where whole game events take place. I don't see it being a problem for small development projects though as common sense and love of the work tends to have more say than a chequebook. -
Which tier did you choose?

as with most things I vote that Obsidian do whatever they feel is best.

Obsidian Order question
JayDGee replied to JayDGee's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I did ask in the order thread just after I posted this. Kind of making this thread redundant. -
Sex and Romance Poll
JayDGee replied to Troller's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
An actual romance would be interesting as its something that almost never happens in gaming. Instead we have a persistent hero hound and npc for sex until they eventually give in. That isn't romance. -
Modders Stretch goal?
JayDGee replied to HarTstaRx's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Modding tools extend games playability, with steamworks it is a lot easier to implement also.- 26 replies

I would like to see it have a co-op feature (icewind dale co-op first online game I ever played) but I'm more interested in seing if the game will be open and accepting of the modding community. I always think this is a great way to expand a game and build community support at the same time. Plus with steamworks it can be implemented that much easier.

As soon as I saw the kickstarter I donated. The idea of Obsidian with no publisher hanging over them appeals to me. First of all I hope you are all enjoying this moment and checking on the kickstarter regularly and being amazed by how quickly it is growing. This is happening for one reason, you have a fan base that believes in your ability to make an amazing game. We cant wait to see it, but I hope the community will be patient with you. A game takes a long time to make, a good game even longer. I cant speak for everyone else but please take all the time you need. Every month that goes by I know is just making the game that bit better. So thank you for making this project, which has made me reinstall Icewind Dale.

Magic in a mature setting
JayDGee replied to 1varangian's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think power should come at a price. If someone is able to bend reality and create something from nothing then there should be a cost. I like the Idea that its tied to the soul of the individual. You overuse your power you risk becoming a soulless monster. Also makes evil gits stealing souls a much more sensible arrangement. -
I have fond memories of Icewind Dale co-op, quite possibly the first game I ever played online.
