  1. Same with the Witcher when it was first released. Load times on that one were atrocious, and it was made with a modified Aurora engine (the NWN engine). Devs addressed it and improved it dramatically. I've noticed longer loading times as well as the game progresses, and I have the game installed on an SSD (granted, my load times are faster than some people are reporting, but there is a noticeable difference between the beginning of the game and later on in, say, Defiance Bay when it comes to load times). So I don't think it's everyone's rig that's causing loading issues. There's some optimization that still needs to be done on the game with regards to this, IMO.
  2. I'm pretty satisfied with all the other stuff. Decent but not 'wow' quality, as noted. The map though... that's a pretty big disappointment for a lot of us, since I believe many of us were most excited for that alone.
  3. In a way, I can actually agree with this complaint. Being an RPG, a large part of the game is exploration to discover new areas and quests. As far as I've seen so far, there's no way to avoid the vast majority of combat if you're doing any kind of exploration on the maps. I'm not sure I'd call them 'trash mobs' though. But saying you can avoid a large fraction of encounters is somewhat disingenuous though, especially if you're the type of player that wants to explore the RPG world in which you['re immersed.
  4. This sounds more like a failure of expectations than an objective game issue. In this game, Wizards just aren't as powerful and god-like as they were in the old D&D based games. They're still a viable class to play, but you need to adjust your thinking about how they play. I realize this sounds somewhat like a 'get gud' statement, but it's not meant to be.
  5. Well, that was only mildly funny initially. For a few moments. Then it just got tedious and annoying. (As you can tell, I'm not a fan of Minsc). As for the OP, there's no need to rake him over the coals if he doesn't like the game. However, I'd be interested in more detail on the complaints, but that would likely require some spoilers.
  6. I don't mind as long as people back up their complaints with more than a "I don't like it, this sucks". If they go into some detail about what they find wrong/annoying and possibly how they think it could be fixed, I'm fine with that - even if I may not agree with it.
  7. You need to let go of the D&D system and roll with this one. How is 'roleplay' better in D&D when the classes are strictly pigeonholed into a specific way of playing and building? In this system, if you want to roleplay a Barbarian steeped in lore and with the ability to cast some spells off of scrolls he found... you can. If you want to go with the stereotypical dumbass "Me Thonk, me crush!" barbarian... you can. That's the flexibility of this system: you can actually roleplay a character pretty much the way you want.
  8. Apparently, they have: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/76280-finished-triple-crown-solo-as-cipher Solo.
  9. Not sure I agree with your reasoning here. What unarmed individual is going to attack a samurai type warrior armed with a sword that can cut through armor? (Please folks, I don't want to get into the finer points of samurai, katanas, etc. I just hope my point is clear).
  10. I have to believe you're correct, seeing how Patch 1.03 on GOG was only 80 MBs.
  11. I've felt this way since they first appeared in D&D. Never, ever been a fan of them. However, since I'm not forced to play one or have one in my party, I can easily ignore they exist. And I do. So no problem.
  12. I agree with this. Why they tied discovering hidden objects and traps to Mechanics and also require you to be in scout mode is an odd decision, to say the least. I feel it should be tied to perception with perhaps a bonus to the chance as well as the detection radius if you're in scout mode. As for trap/lock XP, I believe they added it in because so many people complained about not having it. The original plan was to not give XP awards for it, if memory serves.
  13. That had nothing to do with multiplayer. Obs never intended for the game to have multiplayer functionality, Steam or not.
  14. Well, looks like the patch introduced bugs with created hirelings not being able to use the Mechanics skill on locks. Also looks like there's a Concentration bug, which lowers it by 20 points. So yeah, the GOG delay may not be that big a deal after all.
  15. For you guys that didn't know about it, I do sympathize. It sucks to have to wait a couple more days, be it really isn't the end of the world. It's incredible the amount of butthurt that's swirling around on the GOG PoE forum over this though.
  16. Just to cover the bases: they were affected by the stacking attributes bug, yes? If so, try saving the game, exit completely, then reload. See if that works.
  17. Might want to glance through the patch notes and test after today's patch is applied. Seems this list might be quickly forced to obsolescence given a patch today.
