Fallout style combat taunts
Aedelric replied to molarBear's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Combat taunts? Definitely! "I'll beat thee, but I should infect my hands." -
Zero level scaling forces the player to follow a set path, the problem with that is people like freedom of choice. Some regional level scaling can be used to let people adventure and explore without feeling pressured into playing like it is a rail shooter. They also said not everything will be scaled, which I would assume means we will never have dragon powered rats.

stick to your guns, devs
Aedelric replied to Benison's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Most things are going in the right direction for my own tastes. Music sounds good, art direction looks great, focus on storytelling, game mechanics (which we have heard about so far) seem to be well thought out. In no way do I expect everything in a game to be perfectly to my tastes, but neither will one or two aspects I disagree with put me off. Stick to your vision Obsidian! -
So my vote on the poll is irrelevant now? How nice of you. I voted no, I do not want it, it takes money/resources from what could be used to make content.

That is probably because you are a console player and never experienced the year upon year degridation of RPG's from beautiful works of art with great depth and complexity to slightly interactive poorly written novels with shooter/hack and slash elements.

No, no, no, no, no. They always compromise RPG's they are the main reason why RPG's are so bad these days.

Dynamic Events?
Aedelric replied to firek's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I love Guild Wars II, I loved the original also. Not sure how dynamic events could translate to a single player isometric game. Not being an open persistent world it does not need repeating event cycles that are affected by levels of completion/participation. Project Eternity will obviously have an ending so quest repetition does not seem paramount, but you are right in the regards that decent cause and effect from quest chains would be a nice addition. -
Agreed, it is always nice to say what you mean, you could easily just posted a topic, `Obsidian, make the game the way I want´, lets face it, that is exactly what you really mean by this topic. Edit - Anyway, have fun with whatever game you decide to back in the future. Can not say I like farewell topics like this, they are not very productive.
-
You do not agree with the project, will not back the project and will not play the game when it is finished. Why on earth are you even here Metiman? I respect Obsidian for their integrity too, they have more than most developers, Bioware sold out, even if they deny it. Most importantly I am here because I want to play this game, it is the game I have been waiting years for and will be definitely buying it, soon as I do not have to use Kickstarter.

"Semi-random loot lists" confirmed
Aedelric replied to Infinitron's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Semi-random is good, depending how it is implemented. I assume it means no wild wolves with gold pouches and bandits drop a variety of stolen items. As for characters dropping what weapon they use, it would be nice but not massively important unless the weapon was magical or unique. -
Overreaction theater!
Aedelric replied to Madzookeeper's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think a topic about people being drama queens is in itself an overreaction. You may not like people overreacting, but you can not stop it, nor is such things uncommon as Volourn said. -
Well, we know nothing about Edair and Cadegund, beyond their appearance and appearances can be deceptive, what makes a fun/unique character is not merely what meets the eyes. The concept art for the armour and weapons looks spot on, high fantasy with a touch of realism I think they are doing well at holding their ground with the whole Icewind Dale art direction.

Level scaling confirmed
Aedelric replied to Valorian's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think the topic title is misleading, they seem to be wanting to add partial level scaling. I think it is a decent enough compromise, so long as we do not get a challenge against rats and goblins when we are level 50 armoured knight's or are able to kill a dragon as a level 1 naked thief. So long as they do not go in the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion direction, then I do not think we have much to worry about. Edit - Just to clarify, I am still not for full level scaling. But I am not going to turn my back on the project just because it has one feature I do not 100% agree with. -

Where is everyone from
Aedelric replied to Sales101's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Indeed, not quite the most ridiculous thing I have read today, but it comes a close second. -
Optional Expert Mode Features
Aedelric replied to IcyDeadPeople's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I selected almost everything in the first part. Body location damage like fallout would be perfect, I want my elven archer to shoot a guard in the knee and I want my warrior to kick someone in the privates.- 25 replies
