  1. Good God, that part raised my blood pressure. Such arrogance! I wanted to punch him trough my monitor. I know what you mean, not like the rest of what he said was any better either. I assume he was trying to provoke others, he can not be oblivious as to how what he wrote would be perceived.
  2. What is the point? The point is the story, the quest, the fun of the journey and the completion. None of which is defined by urgency. You are wrong to believe that the lapse of time is the only way to have consequence. You can have consequences that matter through player actions and choices throughout their adventure. Your health argument is strange and not really a good example of your point.
  3. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/60826-rideable-mounts/page__hl__mount http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/60588-mounts-and-mounted-combat-should-they-be-added-as-a-stretch-goals/page__hl__mount?do=findComment&comment=1204362 How many topics do we need for a feature that most people seem to dislike?
  4. Boss death scenes and random enemy death animations are fine. Being taken out of the game to watch a cut scene is immersion breaking and takes valuable time away from planning your tactical combat. I would also not be keen on any animations that wastes your character/companions time in oder to perform.
  5. The stress of a time limit does not exactly make it fun for me. It is an RPG, I intend to take in the sights, drink in the superfluous dialogue and calmly enjoy my time in the game world. How can I do this if I am under pressure to complete a quest with a time limit?
  6. Drow or dark elves is one race I would rather not see, if we have bad elves I would rather they be more unique and have sound sociopolitical reasons for being so, also dark skin for an underground race, not well thought out. Apart from that I am not a fan, `Oh! we are evil because we like doing evil things for evil's sake... Oooo!´.
  7. A console annoyance, achievements add nothing to the game, it just takes resources away from genuine content creation.
  8. An isometric game with climbing that worked well was Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive, it did add some great tactical elements. The addition of climbing or even multiple levels is not bad, archers taking higher ground, sneaking in top floor windows and so on. But I still do not see it happening.
  9. If I am going down during Armageddon you all are! No shelters!
  10. Making armour and weapons are all fine and dandy. But fishing is something else, it does not add anything that affects the game, beyond depth as you say. But lets face it, the depth is superficial at most and the actual use is minimal. Anyway, when I think of isometric fishing it brings me back many, many years to Ultima Online, it was not what one could call fun. What would your companions do while you postpone your adventure to save the land in order to catch a salmon? Stand around and take in the sun?
  11. Lower graphics does not make a bigger game. As for systems PC only, I do not want design choices for other systems compromising the core of Project Eternity. Like with what consoles have been doing to PC RPG's for years.
  12. I do not want taken by my hand and guided through everything, we are not idiots, so drop the tutorials. Characters mean everything in RPG's so character design should be very detailed and flexible. Unfortunately in a lot of games the choices are superficial, like in Forgotten realms you can pick the god you follow, which is the last you ever hear of it. I hope Project Eternity is different and our choices matter.
  13. How is a fish going to help us? I doubt after selling twelve fish you could pay for for even a new pair of boots let alone elven enchanted boots. I am for mini games, but they have to affect the game in some way.
  14. Agreed CosmicCommander, it had a nice origin selection, but the mechanic was wasted for almost all of the rest of the game. I never got to take back my characters family castle.
  15. I am against this idea because what it adds to the game is not equal to the amount of resources it would require to create.
  16. Big city? I hope so, where else am I going to go to get smacked around the back of the head and robbed clean.
  17. I am not against an animal that is not a dog, but it would have to fit the role well. Thinking about it magic transmutation to other animals would make everyone happy. What I would not like is a suicidal `dog´ that charges the first enemy it sees and will fight to the death. I would like one with some intelligence and, but also animal instinct willing to flee. Also not being a traditional companion it's actions should be slightly random, like leaving my group to go chase a cat or fight another dog or mark it's territory. As for skills, I am open to it gaining skills in the traditional exp form, but what would be great is actively teaching it, like a real dog. We would teach it to sniff out invisible characters, hunt out traps and non-combat skills like finding stashed loot. This would be a fantastic addition to me if implemented right, I would probably even just have a solo playthrough with my pet. Also, we should be able to name it!
  18. Because people always want the game they dream for, not what they are marketed. This topic deserves to be closed.
  19. The $110 pledge include early beta access. I would say the chances of encountering game breaking bugs will be a fair bit less likely than with any previous titles. After all, that is several thousand beta testers and climbing.
  20. 100% yes. But unlike other games, I want to be able to train him.
  21. Isometric all the way, I want painted backgrounds, the only concession to modern graphics I am happy to entertain is 3D character models, so long as they aesthetically fit. Project Eternity is not about beautiful graphics, it is about bringing back the RPG's we love.
  22. Mods often create nice communities around games, the longevity is not strictly determined by mods but it does help quite a lot, especially when the development team has large gaps between sequels/expansions/DLC's. Morrowind has had many, many mods, the community is still active today, an example is with the mega mod Tamriel Rebuilt, this all after two very popular Bethesda squeals released. Rome Total War is still alive and kicking, not long ago RTR VII was released and this after Medieval/Empire/Shugun II. Not everyone appreciates mods but most do, so many mod projects have download numbers in the thousands. If Obsidian include it as a 2.5 million stretch goal I will bet they will hit it fairly quickly, Planescape total conversion anyone?
