Demographics of who voted, based on exit polling. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/11/04/us/politics/2014-exit-polls.html?smid=tw-nytpolitics&_r=0

"but CNN is talking out of their ass on this." I agree.

I know the voter turnout for my state was pathetic. I'm involved through work, with various Registrar of Voters, and spoke with election officials from three different counties in Northern CA, and this is the lowest turnout of any general election on record. Very interesting, so we are talking about voter apathy amongst the youth and the Republicans energising there voter base and getting people to vote? Or has the Republican turnout also been bad ? Can't speak for other states but voter apathy is certainly a factor in California. Of course, there is no Senate seat up for election and no hotly contested statewide races either. Hell, the Democratic Governor easily won re-election and he didn't even have to campaign. Low turnout is expected ( less than 50% of eligible voters). It's the battleground states that determines who wins the congressional majority, and democrats weren't able to energize their base beyond Union voters and minorities. Even then, there aren't enough of them turning out, let alone fickle youth voters.

Not to be pedantic, but what is "Firefly-inspired"?A Space Western centering on a rag-tag group of dissidents trying to eke out a living in the backwater fringe of galactic civilization whilst trying to stick it to the man when such opportunities arise?

Youth tend to vote democratic. There aren't any hot topic issues or causes nationally -or more saliently, in middle America that's rallying the youth vote. In 08, democrats won the both the House and Senate due in large parts because of the excitement and candidacy of Obama, that permeated over to other races. Every subsequent election afterwards, the youth turnout has declined worst and worst, so therefore democrats lose more and more seats nationally.

Exodus starting again for the A's. Billy Beane's #2, Farhan Zaidi, to the Dodgers for their GM job. http://blog.sfgate.com/athletics/2014/11/04/farhan-zaidi-to-be-named-dodgers-general-manager/ -
Wowsers. They really ran with it.

Yep. I'm hesitant to be bullish on a Heat team that lacks depth and whose star guard has huge question marks regarding durability. They can still make the playoffs, but Both Wade and Bosh have to take it upon themselves a lot without too much help. ... If OKC can hit 51 wins, they'll get in, but there's very little margin for error when and if KD and Westbrook come back in January.
-
They are good enough that I consider them to be honorary even-numbered Trek movies. !!!! Star Trek 5 was a masterpiece in comparison. No need to lie.

Yep, that was the wrong call and we are regretting that decision game by game.

Was worried you wouldn't notice.

Kaepernick sucks. Fumbles in the endzone with two seconds left, down three.
-
You think they can get to the 53+ wins it'll take to be a middle seed with Westbrook and Durant out two months?
-
This is how I see playoff seeding will play out. Western Conference 1. San Antonio Spurs 2. Golden State Warriors 3. LA Clippers 4. Dallas Mavericks 5. Memphis Grizzlies 6. Houston Rockets 7. Rip City 8a. OKC Thunder 8b. Phoenix Suns 8c. Minnesota Timberwolves 8d. NOLA Eastern Conference 1. Cleveland Cavaliers 2. Chicago Bulls 3. Washington Bullets 4. Toronto Drakes 5. Charlotte Hornets 6. Atlanta Hawks 7. New York Knickerbockers 8. Brooklyn Nets The Contenders San Antonio Spurs: Defending Champs. The old reliable T-800 model. Cleveland Cavaliers: Top heavy with a weak bench. Aside from Lebron and an aging Shawn Marion they don't have quality defenders and absolutely no rim protection. Still good enough for a top two seed in the East with their dangerous offensive weapons. Chicago Bulls: Best Defense. Improved offense. All hinging on D-Rose. OKC Thunder: They especially will have their work cut out for them in the second half (post Durant and Westbrook's return) to make the playoffs. That said, should they make it in, OKC can still make a deep playoff run. Golden State Warriors: Combine a sneaky Top 5 Defense with a potential Top 3 Offense and they are a legit darkhorse favorite. They can lead the league in point differential. LA Clippers: Really hesitating listing them here as something about their roster strikes me as off balance. Griffin and Paul make a potent PnR combo and are Top 10 players. But they don't have strong team defense and lack perimeter shooting.

I'm a Trekker and I like the Abrams reboots.

Russell Westbrook out 4-6 weeks with a broken finger. Not the most auspicious start for OKC.

Dammit. Vegas got wise and now the Warriors are 6 to 1 to win the West. I liked it better when it was 12 to 1. Shouldn't have procrastinated with the bookie.
