  1. I actually loaned out my disc to a friend and it got cracked. By that time, the game was already out of print. It was a brilliant, ambitious game and the manual and tech/unit poster was old school cool. Too bad I lost the manual as well.
  2. This was at the very top of my wish list. Playing the Empire and hunting down the Rebels with my fleets of (named) Star Destroyers and intelligence network brought me countless hours of joy.
  3. It's certainly an unorthodox take.
  4. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8919/microsoft-reveals-the-next-generation-of-windows-10 Anandtech's Windows 10 event writeup.
  5. Yet another reason to... Thanks Obama!
  6. http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-to-make-windows-10-free-to-windows-7-8-1-and-windows-phone-8-1-users/ It's a good move by MS.
  7. Looks like Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for one year to those already using Windows 7 or 8.1.
  8. I enjoyed the speech. It was well crafted (and delivered) and it made me feel good as an American and for atleast one night --allowed for some optimism in this country without the usual cynicsm and destructive partisanship that's prevalent in Washington and internet forums worldwide. The State of the Union is our annual reminder that the state of the union is strong. It's good, positive reinforcement that'll help me go about my business tomorrow and do my part in making this country better. Just hearing the President saying the State of the Union is strong really is a good morale booster. As is highlighting the accomplishments and struggles of both the most extraordinary of us and the mundane. It's folksy, it's kitsch, but it's also endearing and brings us closer as a nation as we acknowledge those that share in our American experience. I prefer the idealism of government as a force for good as portrayed in the West Wing than what's happening in Washington today. Obama's appeal for compromise is a reflection of that ideal and atleast for a few hours tonight, it gives me some ray of hope. Well done POTUS.
  9. I'm already playing the beta. Thus, I've already inoculated myself to the bugs so much so that they won't bother me too much on release.
  10. Spell reuse based on "sleep" - Encounter and Rest. Icewind Dale UI and style - Sure, in the sense that earlier beta builds included assets taken directly from IWD. pointless dialog choices - Wouldn't be an IE inspired game without them. Kreia style dialogs - Not sure if there's a crone in the game...but we have atleast one goddess whose worldy manifestations is as such. There's always hope. talking to every object including lamps to get quests - I believe that inanimate objects may have souls too. If there's a soul, there's a potential quest there. dull towns full of redundancy - Dyrford Village is pretty sleepy as far as towns go. How many of these points are in Pillars of Eternety? - All of them? I'm pretty excited.
  11. Seems like a terrible shame to me. She was such a unique character concept. Now, instead of a strong, armored priestess with a blunderbuss, we get a wild-eyed loon in a dirty robe carrying around a stick. In fact, it seems like there's very few female companions right now: just the eskimo dwarf, the feathered paladin and a potentially dead or insane woman. Please bring back Cadegund. Well, the wild-eyed loon and the dead(?)/insane woman were concepted by Avellone. I'd pretty much run with these ideas rather than recycle the ginger with pyromaniacal tendencies.
  12. Umm yeah. I'd go with Rumsteak's devtracker.
  13. The main theme has really been growing on me. I actually caught myself humming/whistling it audibly at work.
  14. I remember seeing this image from a PC Gamer or CGW. I prefer this version of Imoen. Not sure if this was done by Sweet, Manley, or Kovacs.
  15. Thank you as well Gromnir. There is much to reflect here in post civil rights America and how much has or hasn't changed in 50 years. Just finished President Obama's State of the Union address. Agree or disagree with his politics, atleast we as a country can agree that his ascendency to the Presidency is a positive milestone to the legacy of the Rev. Dr. King. Here's another one from MLK --post Rosa Parks ramifications.
  16. Listened to Martin Luther King's speech again. Always worth a listen.
  17. yousnipc This will be good in 3 expansions. Intrigued. So am i ... but i'll probably buy it after it gets 3 expansions. Then again, Civ IV and X-COM were excellent releases by Firaxis right off the gate.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQh6WjrRohcThis will be good in 3 expansions. Intrigued.
  19. I was one of those idiots who actually switched off the game to play Smash Brothers with 4 minutes left thinking 19-7 was surmontable. Lols.
  20. I've run the beta with an AMD A-10 APU which has similar specs to your A-8 and it runs smoothly. On these APU's, the GPU is embedded with the CPU and both the A-10 and A-8 share the same GPU.
  21. Is it still too late for the Justin Sweet stretch goal? http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/60122-stretch-goal-hire-justin-sweet-to-make-portraits/?hl=%20justin%20%20sweet
  22. That's actually a pretty fair assessment Volo. Not my favorite HBO series (Rome and Deadwood run higher) but it's currently number 3 on my current tv listing - behind Survivor and Constantine. The book series itself ranks behind The Foundation Trilogy and just ahead of LOTR as my favorite in the fantasy/science fiction genre. (The books are much, much better) Oh and Brienne sucks.
  23. Portraits don't worry me too much. They'll add more as we get closer to release. And even then, modders will upload a bunch of portrait packs for the game anyway.
