There was a good response from a trans person to an ELI5 about it. Basically, there is little current psychotherapy can do for it with our current understanding, so gender reassignment is really the only way to let them feel like they're normal. They have to undergo a lot of assessment and therapy before its considered, and is used as a last resort. It was a good response because unlike a lot of the talk nowadays it was recognized as a mental illness instead of "how dare you talk like we're not normal" The current celebratory attitude towards it baffles me though. Its like saying" oh how brave it is for you to come out as a schizophrenic, we need more schizophrenic representation in the media. "

What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)

There are some things I really like about Arrow, but man, they love to turn it into Dawson's Creek about twice an episode. To be fair, it is on the CW. At Fan Expo Van last year a guy praised Stephen Amell and the show for bringing good Superhero TV instead of cheesy teen Drama like Smallville. Amell's response was "Have you seen the show?" -
Pakman is great because he doesn't let his biases get in the way of the hard questions. Doesn't go easy on the people he likely agrees with, which is good journalism.

Netflix ordered 2nd season of Daredevil. Thumbs up from me. -
I'm psyched for the next Spidey, because I want to see whata team that actually gets the character can do. Marvel hasn't done a bad movie yet.

It didnt give me the "f this movie" vibe the first trailer gave. It reinforced the only positive I had from the first, which was Miles Teller. Kate Mara looks like a bleached chimp. The CG on Thing has no emotion, and I'm still worried about their handling of Doom, the greatest villain in all of comics.

Context? Because I don't get the hilarity. It just looks like a guy denying the Armenian genocide

I chalk it up to the beginning of the whole thing, where the GG side was calling for dialogue and discussion while the aGG side was calling us a hate group who didn't deserve a voice. If we're talking about botched first impressions, let's not forget that "ETHICS!" wasn't really an issue for gamergaters until gamergate actually became a thing. So, based on those early days, the "beginning of the whole thing", as you put it, "hate group that doesn't deserve a voice" was actually not that far off from the truth. Sure if you equate GamerGate with BurgersAndFries, which I don't. For me, and for most of who I consider GamerGate, the first shot was the Gamers are Dead articles. Yes a lot of the BurgersAndFries people were early GG supporters, but it would have disappeared without those articles.

I chalk it up to the beginning of the whole thing, where the GG side was calling for dialogue and discussion while the aGG side was calling us a hate group who didn't deserve a voice. So while you are mostly neutral to the whole thing, calling for decorum invokes a "tried that, didn't work, bugger off" type response. The sad thing is GG and feminism have a lot in common, both have a lot of people with noble goals, but all people seem to see is the dickheads with the megaphones spouting nonsense and abuse and taking that as the whole.

That was one of the worst casualties of the writer's strike. -
I keep seeing that trailer described as epic. I don't see it. I was hoping for a little more Batfleck so we could prematurely pass judgement, but aside from still looking the part there wasn't much. I still don't get DC/WB's idea that effing Superman needs to be dark. Patton Oswald was right, only Batman gets to brood.

PoE Sales?

What would be great would be if they make enough that it starts a cycle of smaller budget games like this every few years that makes enough for them to keep everyone employed even if they have another major cancellation. -
Harry Partridge was one of my favourite youtubers already, and that upped his status even more.

Ant-Man was (in the comics) a founding Avenger. That said, he rather quickly became Giant-Man in the comics (a little over a year after his debut). Shrinking dudes were a hard sell in the 1960s (DC's The Atom didn't do well either compared to other Silver Age stalwarts). The longest run for a shrinking hero was Doll Man in the "Golden Age", appearing in 1939 as a headline in Feature Comics and holding two books (Feature and Doll Man) through 1949 (when he was dropped from Feature) and then in 1953 his solo title was cancelled. Of superheroes from the same publisher, only Plastic Man fared better than Doll Man. In comparison to Doll Man's 159 appearances, Ant-Man had 14 before becoming Giant Man, while the Atom lasted 38 issues solo after his 3 issue tryout in SHOWCASE. Obviously teams were a thing in the 1960s that they weren't as much in the 1940s, so Ant-Man and Atom rack up a large number of appearances in teams (Avengers for Ant-Man and Justice League for Atom) that Doll Man didn't (he wasn't added into a team until the early 1970s). Atom's & Hawkman's books were also combined in the late 60s to try and save both low selling titles, giving Atom 7 more appearances as a superhero duo with Hawkman. That's probably more information about shrinking heroes than you ever wanted. Best incarnation of Ant Man so far was on Earth's Mightiest Heroes. He could shrink and grow at will depending on the situation. Lead to some pretty boss sneak attacks where the baddies didn't know he was there then suddenly 30 foot tall dude standing there punting Abomination out a window.

Really? He was in the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy, which got positive buzz, which led to the return of his comics. There was talk of them doing an animated MCU tie in, he would be perfect.

I think most of the DD discussion is in the TV thread, but if you think its good now, wait till Fisk shows up.

So Marvel does it again and goes and makes Ant Man look amazing. http://youtu.be/4uQKclSI0tw

I can vouch for the 4-5 hours being unsustainable. Its what I've been getting since my kids were born and I feel awful.

Japadog is the big dog in Vancouver. http://www.japadog.com/menu_En.html I've only had it once, had the Kurobuta Terimayo, but it was pretty much the best hot dog I've ever had.

I'm a fan of adding sweet longganisa to my kraft dinner. Adds a bit of sweet and spicy.

Daredevil. Excellent so far. End of episode 2 was particularly awesome, sets up the situation, comes in, beats up the bad guys, and leaves. Like a 5 minute scene, no cuts. -
Eastern Europe has the benefit of a variety of pierogis to pair with their variety of sausage. I can't pronounce sausage properly anymore. Epic Meal Time ruined me.
