  1. I really liked Roger Ebert because he judged a movie based on what it was trying to accomplish rather than judging based on some impossible standards.
  2. That parallels the comics. During Civil War, Thor was attempting to break the cycle of Ragnarok and Hulk was on Sakarr being a gladiator messiah/destroyer. The one thing I think has been a mistake with Thor is not introducing Baldur. In Comics and Animation he's established as part of Thor's inner circle and Thor's brother, and as the next Thor flick is Ragnarok, and Baldur's death signals the beginning of Ragnarok, not establishing the character earlier will weaken the movie.
  3. I enjoy movies that entertain me, because I don't have time to analyze them. I did when I was younger and enjoyed a wider variety of movies. Now I want fun movies that let me escape the drudgery of everyday life for 2 hours. I also tend to have to watch movies with my kids, the marvel movies are generally ok for them to watch, and I'm a fan of superheroes, so win/win. The millions of dollars that these movies make vs the pittance that art films tend to make would be a pretty strong argument against them being valueless. That said, I'm not saying that they are any sort of masterpieces that will be studied in film schools in years to come, but to dismiss them as valueless when they are sure as hell enjoyed and appreciated by millions of people across the world is an elitest and frankly unwelcome attitude.
  4. From a story and Marvel myth persepctive, the hammer says "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor", which in practice has granted the power of Thor to whoever holds it (Beta Ray Bill, Natasha Romonov, etc). Its perfectly in keeping with the title to make a changeover. Heck they did it for several years with Thunderstrike. Thunderstrike was different. He originally took the name Thor because Thor was inhabiting his body. When Thor was expelled no one knew otherwise so he continued using the name, but he kept it secret that he wasn't really Thor. When it was revealed he wasn't Thor, he started going by Thunderstrike. Lady Thor is obviously not Thor Odinson, and the idea that Nick Fury can whisper something in his ear that makes him not only unworthy of Mjolnir, but also of his birth name is ridiculous. He's been named Thor for well over 1000 years in-universe. Last time I remember him being unworthy of Mjolnir he murdered an innocent and became the tyrant king of Earth, and was still worthy of his own damned birth name.
  5. I wasn't born until he was out of the white house, but from what I gather, he was ahead of his time and underappreciated, and has one of the highest hidsight approval ratings in presidential history.
  6. No. Besides being a woman - and, as you pointed out, succeeding in spite of it in a very poisonous political climate - she stands for most everything I hate about U.S. politics - corporate backing, family ties and other questionable connections, being put mostly in a position to succeed by others - just like everyone else who runs for anything even half-important in this godforsaken, nepotistic country - and straight up, I did not not like her part in the Obama administration (being a grand part of the "most transparent administration ever", HA), and I have little love for what I know of her politics. Why in the world do YOU think we should like her for president? You still haven't given any bloody reasons that would actually play into why she makes a good candidate. Because she succeeded at manipulating her way into positions of import, just like everyone else who holds/has held those positions have? You should vote for her for several reasons, the main ones being she does have the credentials, experience and ability. So she is a women who actually meets the criteria ....she is not some token. That should be reason enough ? She's also an ****.
  7. What is it with Vermont producing worthwhile candidates? The last presidential hopeful I gave a hot damn about was Howard Dean, and the media screwed him.
  8. Thats how I took it too. The whole not being able to have kids thing was in response to Banner talking about not wanting little hulklings running around and her reassuring him that couldn't happen with her. I didn't like the Banner/Widow love story because it completely ignores Betty Ross, but the rest of it was handled quite well.
  9. I would love to see Obsidian do an original Space-fantasy setting. Space emperors, blending magic and high technology (not like Mass Effect and their pseudoscience explainations for magic, full on mysterious orders built around the stuff), far future religions, etc.
  10. Age of Ultron. Loved it. They already announced a directors cut on blu-ray as Whedon was forced to cut it for time which lead to a couple less than spectacular plot points, but overall I really enjoyed it. The Hulk/Black Widow stuff bugged be because Betty exists in the MCU and they just kind of ignored her
  11. Punisher: War Zone was the best Punisher film. I don't understand the hate.
  12. Thor 2 sucked compared to the first one, as for Captain America both were kind of ok. Guess you need to be an American to dig captain America. I'm Canadian and really enjoyed both Cap movies. Cap 2 more though obviously. I dug Thor 2, but moreso for the Asgard stuff. The director pulling back on the Kirby alien styling for Asgard and injecting some more Viking stuff was cool. Loved the flying longships, adn the subtle introduction of Loki's sorcery. Malekith was lame though. Gotta wonder if it would have been any better had Mads Mikkelsen remained in the role.
  13. About time. Now pressure is on for them to post more because we'll see which threads they contribute to.
  14. Not sure if rebuttal, or example of.
  15. The Watchmen director's cut is much better, if only for Hollis Mason's murder scene.
  16. - Yacht Club Games With a lot of Kickstarters you're basically expecting them to work for way under pay, but on the flip side of that they get royalties. The Unrest guys still had full time jobs besides making the game I believe. Their hope was to make enough on Unrest to only work part time for their next one.
  17. I'm super broke so hopefully there are few I really want. Obsidian's next one is the one I'm saving for, but sadly they won't be getting nearly what I spent on PoE. Also, wasnt there another Shadowrun recently kickstarted?
  18. The trope was originally specific to comics, which is why it gets so much backlash now that its used so much outside of comics, because there are a lot more contrary examples.
  19. It was named by Gail Simone in reference to Kyle Raynor's(Green Lantern) girlfriend being killed and left in the refridgerator for him to find. She felt female supporting characters were misproportionately killed off violently to give male characters motivation to fight the villain as opposed to male characters. This was a good point as Uncle Ben and Jason Todd are the only examples of this I can think of. It has been adopted by SJWs however to mean any time a female character is killed.
  20. How is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt a SJW show? I assume he took that out of context snippet of "females are strong as hell" to heart. We all know it doesn't take more than that for some MRA to completely lock up. No use arguing. Well if you think about it, all the major characters are women, gay, or minorities, and all the bad guys are white males.
  21. Grade 11 social studies in BC (Canada), was mostly ww1, ww2, the build up to both, and Canadian civics. Anything outside Canada was covered in History 12, which I didnt take, as in grade 12 we were allowed to pick electives for our social studies credit and I took Civilization instead, which I regret since it was a quick overview on the major ancient civs then a whole lot on different art classifications. Turned into nap class. I tend to find pre 20th century history more interesting, hence avoiding History 12.
  22. Re: Gamergate being a hate group, you repeat a lie enough, it eventually becomes true. Its just not about hating women like the sjws claim, its about hating sjws and crap games journalists.
  23. Unbreakable, they alive dammit, its a miracle!
  24. Is that Matt Striker on commentary? Ditching him from the Smackdown commentary team was one of WWE's worst decisions.
