  1. According to the timeline the human tribe that would go on to form Aedyr was formed in 300AI, so it didn't start with the formation of the Aedyr empire. As the current calendar is Vailian and the creator of said calendar would probably have built off whatever the Vailians were using a the time, I'm guessing it was something to do with their culture, support by the Old Vailia entry on the wiki that states "The Dyrwood calenda (Anni Iroccio) is based on earlier Vailia calendar. The Vailians pioneered cartography and theories of the world's shape". http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Old_Vailia The timeline states that the "Grand Empire of Vailia" was founded around 1300, however that could mean that is when it became an empire, the city state that founded the empire might have been around before then and it's founding might serve as the Year 0 event. This is guesswork though, I get the feeling Obsidian have left it unsaid to avoid committing themselves to anything until they have fully decided themselves, along with a lot of other stuff. Better not to say rather than to say something and then have to retcon it later, just ask Sten's horns. EDIT: And I just noticed that the Darcozzi Paladini are supposed to have been founded in 800 AI, 500 years before the founding of the Grand Empire, proving there was a Vailian culture or at least a pre-cursor to the Vailian culture before then.
  2. Normally I don't post on this kinda thing but I gotta ask: is the Gamergate/anti-Gamergate thing all over? Finished? Ran out of steam?
  3. I'm trying to think of the unique items in BG1 but all I can think of are the ones from BG2. I think Spiderbane was in 1 right?
  4. About time I can truly enforce my will upon those who would oppose me! My tree will be more full than Raedric's tree could ever be.
  5. Well, Conan was smart that was why he was able to adapt so easily he was just uneducated, so it actually makes sense that Intelligence is important for them. Someone who is too dumb isn't going to be able to learn the skills needed to survive nor adapt to changing situations. And the smartest who can adapt will go to these strange lands for adventure and a better life.
  6. I'm no expert but I have to say, I think Stormcaller will still top that especially once you unlock all it's capabilities. As DreamWayfarer said, your accuracy as a ranger is already really high which means you shouldn't be getting many grazes. It would probably be better suited to a non-ranger with a lower accuracy rating. Stormcaller is just too awesome to pass up.
  7. Pointed heads? Didn't notice he had a pointed head, though I am a fervent believer that Pillars needs Pointy Hats, and lots of them.
  8. Sorry but as Barbedbeat says, unless you have a save before you enter the pit there isn't much that can be done. However, the game normally makes a save at that point too for you to go back to, it is an auto-save but not one of the normal auto-saves I believe, unless you specifically deleted it then it should still be there.
  9. That's New Age if I've ever heard it! xD I could be! But I don't think there's enough in the game itself to support this theory. It does make sense, though. It does sound a lot like "Universal Conciousness" and other New Age stuff like that doesn't it? :D But it would explain why the Engwithans didn't find any gods, they were looking in the wrong place. Or maybe they did find it, and the creation of the gods was an attempt to reverse the situation? We know that the souls in Eora seem to be breaking down over each reincarnation, becoming less, maybe this is due to the broken pieces slowly breaking down even more? And the Engwithans realised this and were sticking themselves together to create a more stable form? And then it raises the question of what or who broke them in the first place?
  10. Been thinking about the whole gods manufactured thing, and I wonder if we ain't got it all backward or something. Thaos never says that's what they were doing, maybe they weren't trying to make gods but were attempting to remake them or it?? What if all the souls are broken remnants of some god that got shattered, giving rise to the kith races? They seem to break up, merge together, pick up pieces etc, maybe they are all parts of one whole, or at least once were? That everyone is a part of the Creator-God? Dum dum DUM!
  11. Yep, copying your save file should work, it worked for me at least. Dunno where the save file is on Mac though sorry.
  12. Well, it sounds like they are going to be fixing this. *does happy dance*
  13. Thank you Arik and BMac so much for this! Would've said thank you earlier but not had a chance to do so. I think a lot of people just assumed they had been deliberately cut or something, so cool that they are being put in. Thanks again!
  14. Not sure if this is a bug or not, so this may in fact be more of a query, but apparently there is dialogue in the game for repeatedly clicking on a companion that is supposed to play but doesn't. For example, there is dialogue for Pallegina to say "Do you think if you click me enough I will lay an egg? Sorry to disappoint you." Is it meant to play or was it just not implemented? The link below is to the thread where this has been brought up, the examples are towards the end. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/83683-favorite-npc-moments/page-2
  15. The we must inform them! *Stands with one foot on desk, draws St Ydwen's Redeemer and holds it aloft pointing forwards* To the technical forums!
  16. It's nowhere near as bad as Bioware where every character is pretty much a mouthpiece for their entire culture and a perfect Mar(t)y Sue one at that whose endorsement of their civilisation could not be questioned, though a certain crazy bint comes close whose name I will put in spoilers: Other than her they manage to avoid the horrible plot-driven info-dump characters of other, less reputable developers.
  17. Actually, they did. Companions' voice sets in \PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\audio\vocalization\vo wav include this barks but for some reason they never trigger. Pallegina says, for example, "Do you think if you click on me enough that I'll lay an egg? Sorry to disappoint you." Aw man! I wonder why, did they decide deliberately not to implement them? Or has no one thought to mention it to them?
  18. Grenades would be awesome!
  19. No.... gods no! Please tell me this was intended as humour, that I have failed to read the sarcasm intended. The wasn't enough? With something like that, you can never ever have enough smilies to show you're joking! My heart attack has stopped now, thank you! Sorry for the trauma! That's alright, my fault I should learn to stay calm, otherwise next time it could kill me!
  20. You misread. He said 'next to useless unless used as a tank'. So he did, obviously my brain is missing out words now, maybe it's time I laid off the snorting of game discs like cocaine. Obviously what I thought he had written was weird so I re-read it again and still mis-read it. And I used to be good at reading in my youth...
  21. Um, next to useless as a tank? The paladin? Can you post some links to where these claims are, because they totally untrue, and I could do with a good laugh.
  22. Thanks. There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to whether the Ranger modals work with melee attacks or not, but oh well.
  23. It's hard to say. Most fixes and features tend to be retroactive, but not all of them—and it's unlikely that the patch notes will be complete at all, let alone that they mention whether fixes are retroactive. Waiting until TWM pt. II comes out is the safest bet to experience all the changes and features; however, YOLO and if you want to play the game now, you should. Even if you missed out on a couple fixes/features for this play through, you'd still get the bulk of it and you could always play the game again at any time in the future I second this and also add that if you're anything like me you'll probably restart a few times anyway before you settle on a character anyway so might as well get those restarts out the way beforehand. Eh eh thank you, but I've already played through the vanilla game twice, with dozens of restarts of course! Now I'm experiencing the wonders of the White March for the first time. As for the new companions, I'm planning to keep only the Devil of Caroc in my party (amazing character btw: interesting story, fantastic voiceover, funny lines "if this is a staring contest, I'm gonna win."), and leaving Zahua for the future, in WMPart 2, where he will get his personal quest. Does it look like a good plan? Have I understood it correctly? Ah! Well then, carry on lol. Sounds like my plan in that case, I went ahead and did the White March stuff with my ranger, keeping Devil as well while Zahua has kinda been dumped at Caed Nua all this time, but I have also held off on starting any new playthroughs with most of the characters I have planned now that the second part has been announced so hopefully if I end up missing stuff with my ranger due to the changes I will catch them with my next playthrough. I am curious to see what the changes to the Stronghold are gonna do and whether they are retroactive to an in-progress playthrough or not. Will Caffeine the Ranger need to start over again?
  24. Anyway else get the War of the Worlds song "The change of anything coming from Mars..." stuck in their head when they see the thread title?
  25. I couldn't agree more! I hope that in PoE2 they'll improve this, because only two lines for the clicking action are not enough. Hey. Hey. Mh. Hey. Hey. Mh. Don't they realize how many times we are going to hear those words? Give us a bit of variety! I had to edit the companions' audio files to make them say more interesting things on selection! At least it's not a "Heya, it's me Imoen!" Guessing they were more focused on making sure other things were voiced first, but I feel it would add that little bit of charm to lighten the mood occasionally.
