  1. Bethesda is hiring for a next-gen unannounced game. Most likely FO4 (in case you're interested to read why I think so and don't mind my desperate link baiting, you can read my reasons here).
  2. Playing some Demon's Souls now, after finishing Dark Souls and Catherine. Surprised by how different it manages to feel from Dark Souls despite having essentially exactly the same core gameplay and controls, and really enjoying it so far.
  3. I'm thinking it depends on whether they have the resources and there's an audience on the VITA (and so far, it doesn't seem like there's one, but that could change as long as the right software is pushed).
  4. I'm almost tempted to start a campaign here myself if no one steps up, but the truth is that I don't really have any idea if I would have the time.
  5. Yeah, all that incidental stuff and exploration is why I get hooked on these games, I really missed that aspect with New Vegas, Obsidian managed to get some of it in there but there's no doubt that world building is Bethesda's forte. I know it's been said before but Bethesda worlds + Obsidian writing = the game to finish me off To be fair, they got a lot of better with that in the DLC, Dead Money, Honest Hearts and Old World Blues all had exception visual/environmental storytelling, and in Lonesome Road.. well, half of the story was essentially the environment. I hope they bring back those lessons to their future titles, Obsidian has never really shone in that area so far.
  6. He's getting back the old team, or at least part of it, and if you read the interview, a lot of the design work was already being done with people of the caliber of Jason Anderson (Fallout co-creator). I'd normally be skeptical of inXile's products, but this could really shape up into something good. The most important part will be to very efficient about how they spend money and manage to set an achievable target, both in terms of audience and budget.
  7. No, they just had one games published by Bethesda, and that was it.
  8. I'm fairly sure you can get it for real cheap pretty much everywhere now, so yeah, I think it's worth a shot. Just don't expect a great game, it's too flawed for that, as long as you think you can enjoy the action, art direction and occasionally funny dialogue you should be set.
  9. This is fairly disappointing, but I know nothing of CKII besides the fact that you can de-gayfy your kids by beating them up.
  10. I don't know, the strength of Kickstarter is that you don't have to go through a publisher, and its weakness is that, without a good amount of goodwill, you won't get a big budget, especially not on an RPG (which would require higher budgets, than, say, the point-and-click title Double Fine is working on). When you consider those two things, it actually makes sense to think that inXile's team will go for a similar approach to the original titles.
  11. Yeah, Troika had a well-deserved reputation for buggy titles, and yeah, they were bad at planning. But God, if that's what you see or think when you see this news... you're an empty and hollow person son
  12. I knew my passive-aggressiveness would have worked! I knew! ..I also know that this doesn't mean they're working on a new Fallout title though, which is heartbreaking
  13. Didn't they do some heavy marketing near release that focused on how "Your weapon is choice", and such? Don't get me wrong, SEGA's treatment of the title could have been better, but even with that, Alpha Protocol is just a game with such pronounced highs and lows that it's difficult for me to believe that it would have a wide audience.
  14. so hacking the turrets to kill somebody =/= killing somebody? Yeah? It's kind of a moot point anyway because in Fallout specifically "pacifist" walkthrough have always have more to do with the possibility of totally avoiding the combat mechanics, and never were about not producing casualties during your travels. That's something that I insist the designers should at least try to make viable, if they put all the mechanics of the game on the same plate and give you a choice. I'm not going to complain if I can't complete Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning without killing anyone because the game is very upfront about its button-mashy nature and clearly differentiates between what are the core skills (and they deal with combat) and the cursory ones (the other ones).
  15. I'm fairly sure Frank Horrigan has to die for the game to end You can hack the turrets and convince the Enclave soldiers to do it for you with speech.
  16. It's not really "completely unrealistic and nonsensical" when you consider that it was one of the design tenets of the original. It doesn't necessarily have to be like that for every game, but it's pretty disappointing when a game takes away options (btw, I'm fairly sure you can complete FO2 without killing anyone or doing any shooting).
  17. I predict that some people will be disappointed by the announcements, Gromnir will chime in and then disappear, some people will defend it, other will be wait and see, and when the game gets released it will have its fair share of stalwart defenders. ... I have no idea what it will be, though
  18. Second part is up. And now the third part too.
  19. The fact that Psychonauts sorta bombed at release is one of the reasons Tim Schafer is so well-regarded, similarly to Avellone with Torment and Mitsoda with Bloodlines, with the difference that he also has a track record prior to that and after that (Double Fine has been doing just fine with small projects, both critically and commercially). On top of that, Ron Gilbert is going to be on board for this project. There's just a huge amount of goodwill involved there that I don't think should be underestimated, and it's very difficult to match. That's not to say that the model doesn't have potential, but I don't think what mkreku said can be dismissed, it actually seems pretty reasonable to me.
  20. I think you're selling some of the writing short. The plot-heavy stuff was indeed dire, but the character writing had its high points. Mordin and Legion were interestingly written. Garrus, Grunt, and Samara were largely cliches, but they were well executed cliches that fit well with the overall space-opera mileu. Even some of the more minor characters managed to be memorable, like the cops you meet on the citadel in the missions for Samara and Thane. I do kindof hope Col. Tigh makes a reappearance. Will he
  21. SkyUI seemed to be getting all the praise. I don't know if it's still supported though, the last patch broke it, but there's been plenty of time and the modding community it's in its most active period so I'd imagine they must have fixed that already.
  22. New Max Payne 3 trailer shows a game that's Payne in name only I don't know, I'm not getting the same vibes I got from the two original titles with the self-aware bordering-on-parody heavy-on-the-metaphors broody by-the-book I-used-way-too-many-hyphens-and-adjectives noir, but we've seen very little material when it comes to the story and setting, we know that there will be New York night sections, and Sau Paulo allows for plenty of neo-noir goodness. I'll wait and see (I have to say whether the PC version and PS3 versions will be playable before considering buying it anyway).
  23. whoah... this is real? toooooo bad i don't know squat about making video games! cause i'd totally want to make an infinity engine game! Pick up some documentation try and start! The sky is the limit! (Though I've heard that GemRB may not be in the best shape yet.)
  24. I already knew about the child scene but man, it was still hilarious.
