  1. Frayed Knights maybe? There's a demo available. I haven't gotten to the full game yet but the demo was pretty good in its core gameplay, not the deepest dungeon crawler ever but it felt pretty well thought out and had a couple of interesting mechanics like lockpicking and the drama stars. The writing felt a bit unfunny to me though, the production values are what you expect from a 1-man team that's not an artist and had to go with models available from the internet for the most part, and the UI is.. well, yeah. Ignore what I said if that's not the game you were referring to.
  2. Mmmh.. on one hand the combat looks like an amazingly well put together action system, the game looks really nice for an open world title with no loading screens (I think? The footage I saw on GameSpot had no loading screens to enter a building but it might have just been that preview build, or it might be limited to some minor building), on the other hand I have a couple of doubts: 1) From what I've seen so far the character progression doesn't seem super-deep.. but since they haven't talked about it in detail I'm not sure how it works besides the very broad strokes details; 2) the graphical style looks a bit.. bland? And they have only shown very same-y environments so far.. I hope there is more. I had a third but I forgot! You can grab boars and throw them away though, so this is a very real contender for my Game of the Year.
  3. They want to do Planescape: Torment - Enhanced Edition. I'm not sure I want it from Overhaul though
  4. Yeah. They could have used being a little more clear communicating, but essentially the public beta uses the demo content. Later on (before release?) they'll have the polished up demo.
  5. Traps doesn't really seem worthy in the demo though, since there are no ruins or similar environments. I suppose it's possible that you can use it while infiltrating House Daratan's camp? I've always talked myself into it.
  6. Almost done with my second playthrough (technically already done, but I want to actually go through another route rather than the opportunistic one) with an Assassin character. It's true that it's kinda clunky with some UI consistency issues, etc. and there's still some work to be done on the usability front (but it's much much much better than the combat demo already), but man, the content is top-notch. Great branching story with tons of opportunities to solve different situations, different viewpoints, and great C&C.
  7. You mean the last Reaper isn't going to be called "murmur"? I talked with Ray Muzyka just now. He told me the last Reaper is called "Fonz" and will play the Happy Days theme every time he appears. Take it with a grain of salt though, he laughed after saying that and I woke up pretty sweaty.
  8. Lol at the "leak".
  9. They're making a more substantial one?
  10. I don't own a console that can play any Tales of game released in Europe I guess that will change when Tales of Graces gets released here so I'll be able to provide feedback.
  11. Bethesda usually shoots down this rumor pretty quickly. They did with DOOM 4. They chose to go "no comment" on this. Also, NeoGAF's Nirolak noted that a lot of important people on the team left fairly recently. I'm afraid all the signs point to a cancelation
  12. I know I'm supposed to be a Mass Effect 3 and BioWare hater, but Christina Norman said she was doing it for personal reasons (though I don't recall what she said exactly she stated exactly what they were too).
  13. Eh, with a grifter background the town opens up p. quickly. It is jarring to be teleported around though, and I have to say that some of my concerns seeing the feedback on the ITS forums turned out to be true, there are a lot of points when there is only a choice available and I feel like the way I play has already been decided due to my build. I was expecting a "spiritual successor" to Fallout, but the high-level design feels significantly different despite some similarities. Overall I'd say I like Fallout's better, though Age of Decadence seems like a fine RPG with some well thought-out mechanics, serviceable writing, interesting lore, etc. You can definitely feel that it was the product of a small team working on it in their free time, lots of usability issues and puzzling choices with the interface and controls here and there. Then again, bigger professional teams have produced worse results, so I can't complain.
  14. Cancelled games are always better than released ones You said that Obsidian was gonna knock it out the park or whatever the idiom was! And now you're retracting it! I feel betrayed! P.S. : To be less ironic, as much as Morgoth likes to troll, I think there's a point. Dungeon Siege 3 and South Park don't really seem to be the kind of projects Obsidian's audience expects. I guess that's just fair, since Obsidian's fans alone don't really make it financially viable for the company to survive, and I have high hopes for South Park (Dungeon Siege III has been treated fairly harshly, but besides some questionable design choices, its biggest fault was really just that it was merely decent in my opinion), but you can't blame people for being disappointed that projects that looked like they had the potential to be closer to what they wanted were canceled.
  15. I'll wait and see, as usual, but the leads are the same as Dragon Age II so I don't have much hope.
  16. Fallout had such a painfully drawn out developing cycle (it took them a lot of time to finalize things, and they had problems such as with the GURPS license) plus stuff like cutscenes, voice acting with expensive actors and talking heads that inflated the costs. It wouldn't have been as expensive without that stuff.
  17. It's not any more episodic than Mass Effect was, they've clarified in the FAQ that they're planning the trilogy. With your pledge you're funding one game you'll get, not a saga of which you'll get only the first episode. That sounds much better. I'll read the FAQ. Mostly been looking at the description of the game. They are promising a lot, let us hope they can deliver. I'm still waiting for that Obsidian FF Tactics 2 announcement. A man can dream...

  19. I pledged to their Kickstarter because the art style looked really cool, I loved Final Fantasy Tactics and I could use their cool poster.
  20. That's the plan. On the IP: inXile owns the Wasteland IP, bought it back from EA. Double Fine will presumably own the IP since I think they're working on a completely new one.
  21. The PS3 demo was.. decent/good I guess? I wasn't a fan of the command system since it seemed fairly shallow but the shooting seemed punchy and fun, and the robots dismembered just fine. Also nice visuals, all things considered, though maybe a bit drab. As long as you enjoy third-person shooters and aren't going to grab it for $60 it should be fine, I think.
  22. That's.. not a Kotaku editorial. Somehow everyone seems to be linking the repost on Kotaku though? It's from RipTen btw. (I know, it's nitpicky, but they even mention RipTen in the body of the text!)
  23. While I'd agree BioWare's games are less successful commercially than Bethesda's, you have to consider that they cost less to make. Of course, that doesn't stop BioWare from hoping to move the same number of copies, but well, I guess when you're that successful you can't help it but want to shoot higher.
  24. It was a quick GIS grab that they only later learned would be controversial, hardly a conscious choice.
