We are.. aware of that? They'll have to learn either way, since next-gen is getting closer and that will most likely be the de facto standard for the next consoles (minus the Wii U maybe). In fact, I would have initially hazarded the guess that this was a nex-gen project, but to be honest, Obsidian is very unlikely to get dev kits for those consoles.

I'm not really seeing the MMO elements, nothing that you can't find in single-player RPGs anyway. And hours of progress is one hell of a stretch, the game is choke-full of checkpoints and other players online pretty much infallibly tell you where they are. Only place where I admittedly checked a guide to see where the bonfire was is Lost Izalith, but even that area could be done without it and it's not even particularly difficult once you learn the pattern/tricks to it.

Sure, it just seems like a weird choice, that's all. Then again, I hardly have every element to base a judgment on.

Uh.. I don't know how I feel about that if that's true. Obsidian has a really bad track record with using other people's technology, while they've had a lot less problems using theirs and actually produced a technically solid game with it... and Feargus actually commented that they always hit roadblocks when they use engines outside of their intended purpose, like using UE3 for an RPG despite the fact that it didn't have built-in systems :/ I hope it'll turn out to be an Onyx project.

Gamers at Work (Feargus and Tim Cain Interview)
WorstUsernameEver replied to C2B's topic in Obsidian General
My copy arrived. You can certainly tell Feargus is mostly interested in the entrepreneurship aspect, while Tim Cain.. the poor guy just sounds kinda tired after all the **** he had to go through at Troika Can't really blame him for that. -
FYI it's the colonist that and . On top of that .

Wasn't the point of the suicide mission that they didn't know what would happen after crossing the Omega relay? Makes sense that they'd want to cover their asses with all kinds of teammates.

The way IGN is spinning the story is kinda misleading, because the Verge article makes it clear it's basically a Valve-branded PC baseline. Either way, it doesn't really seem good news to me, it probably means (if true) that devs will just start taking the Valve boxes in consideration and leave other hardware combinations in the dust.

Just skip the main campaign and go to Mask of the Betrayer. You won't regret it, honestly.

Looks like Assassin's Creed 3 will be an even bigger jump than the one from 1 to 2. Really looking forward to it.

Purchased, but will have to wait a bit for my copy to get here in the mail. Thanks for linking to it here -
Now that I think about it, back when Fallout 3 came out there were quite a few arguments involving pro Enclave members...apple pie and genocide AMERICUHHHH!!!

Uh, has Chris ever dealt with gender/minority issues with his titles? Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for him and think he's one hell of a writer and designer, but I don't really know if I'd have invited him to the panel had I been organizing that. Then again, I don't really know if I would have wanted to organize something like that considering the gaming community's attitude at large towards these issues..

Blame Kinect. ...what? I don't see the connection.

When you realize that one of the factions consists into fascist rapists with a narcissistic history major at their helm, it starts getting creepy.

Did BioWare fire off their entire animation team or am I suddenly wearing rose-tinted glasses for a franchise I don't love? I distinctly remember run and walk cycles as much smoother in ME2 and ME1.

I dunno about Dunno, either way, the Assassin's Creed lore is dumb in all kinds of ways so if they even decide to retcon I can't say I'll care much. As for historical accuracy, I don't know much of the architecture of the time in AC1 and other minor details, though most of the plot was pretty much changed because "well, history has been manipulated by the Templars", and AC2 had some hilarious Italian accents for someone that actually lives here, but the cities were, I think, fairly accurate? Don't know about Brotherhood though I've heard that the art director wanted to ramp up on the baroque in Rome just to differentiate it from Florence in AC2. So, yeah, AC has always been an intentionally historically inaccurate franchise, but they have put at least some amount of research into it.

I actually like the idea of playing a native American and , but I have to echo sentiments that have already been expressed all over the internet when the setting was first rumored: how does the climbing work? There weren't a lot of tall buildings that I know.

That's the changelog of the first version of the mod anyway, he tweaked some stuff and added more tweaks later, and I presume he'll keep doing it if he goes back to it. I don't know if there's a full changelog available unfortunately, lest you download the mod and check the readme yourself.

Hmm...wonder if there's a gloating post on the TOR forums. Yes, there is. Shame for those getting cut. Not only that doesn't make sense since the WoW wasn't involved in this round of lay-offs, but it's damn damn vile. EDIT: Though I guess it does make sense that the lay-offs may be about WoW's customer service. Still enormously vile tho'.

Blizzard announces 600 redundancies. Well.. ****

They're preparing the video presentation, besides that I think they're ready to go live. I'll post it here because I'm pretty excited not only about the game but at the door it opens (and if it's successful I fully expect Obsidz to follow with Avellone's text-heavy project).

Uh, I was sure I had posted it but anyway Mark Morgan (Fallout 1/2 and Planescape: Torment soundtracks) will do the soundtrack for inXile's Kickstarter Wasteland.
