As expected and yet surprisingly well done
Mmmh.. yeah you're right, there was a LinkedIn from a Square Enix exec that expected 1M+ copies shipped (not sold).
- Fallout game on here, maybe?

As expected and yet surprisingly well done
No. Rumor (? I never managed to find an official source for that, but it seems like what floats on the internet) is that they were expecting much bigger numbers for the title (it did a very modest 820k shipped last time I checked), but it still made a profit and Obsidian is pretty desperate for a project so if Squenix thought they could turn a profit from a DSIV they'd probably go for it with Obsidian, since they did it for real cheap allegedly. But in the end, all of that is speculation.

Avellone asks for your kickstarter ideas
Using a license would be just too problematic for Kickstarter I think, and cut Obsidian's profit margin quite a bit.. definitely NOT what they need right now. So yeah, I would be against them going D&D.

Shadowrun Returns
Mmmh.. I'd kind of advise you not to. Granted, I think this one, and the Wasteland 2 and Double Fine ones are pretty low on the risk scale, but Kickstarter asks you to donate to fund a project and that carries an inherent risk and investment that is much higher than a normal pre-order.

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter
Yup.

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter
At this point, I'm expecting this to hit $3 million by the end of the Kickstarter. EDIT: YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, A PARTY-BASED TITLE IS NOT AN RPG, BECAUSE YOU DON'T ROLEPLAY ANYMORE.

Avellone asks for your kickstarter ideas
Well, Avellone has already said that it's impossible with Kickstarter right now. I think it would be a shame if they didn't try to implement some of the mechanics and ideas of that title in their next ones though, Kickstarter or not. Dossiers were soo good, and so were AP's perks

Shadowrun Returns
Latest goal is a new backers-only mission if they reach $1.5 millies which will tie up with the SNES and Genesis games. Backers don't seem to like the idea that they'll be the only ones to get it, though, so they might just change their mind on that.

Chris Avellone on reddit
It was actually Chris that chose to go with the initials!
- Fallout game on here, maybe?

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter
You were hoping for them to totally disregard the original game fans have been asking a sequel for? No wonder you're going to be disappointed, honestly.

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter
It has a tail because it's a Scorpitron goddammit, we don't need no more reasons!

Fallout game on here, maybe?
Fair enough, but it seems a bit overkill to me considering we won't be many players Wals. If your idea is too big to handle it alone, have you considered scaling it back? It would also offer a good test bed for the concept in case you intend to re-use it, show you what was wrong with it, how we react, etc.

What other classic games would you like to see Kickstarter Revival for?
Give me 'spiritual successors' or crazy new concepts instead, please. I wouldn't spit on a new Arcanum, though. That was a setting that could have used another go, there's an enormous potential right there.

Wasteland 2 Kickstarter
It will for sure, Kickstarter projects spike at the very end when people just kind of rush in. The only question is how much it will spike. Seeing how it's lagging a bit behind of DFA adventure, most likely the final spike will be smaller too so.. a bit less than $3 millies?

Future of the Dragon Age franchise
Rags to riches stories with political intrigue can be pretty grand and DAII, at least in theory, had some pretty hefty weight to its conclusion from what I remember. They botched the execution completely thought, and of course, in the mix of people asking for a more classic story and people simply criticizing the story for the fact that it's bad, BioWare is just probably gonna back out on trying and go back to 'reapers/blight/etc.' Pretty weird, considering they actually managed to do a story that both fit the setting, offered a very personal hook and was grand in scale with the Baldur's Gate franchise (not that it didn't have its problems story-wise, but compared to ME and Dragon Age...). I honestly wonder what the hell happened?

Future of the Dragon Age franchise
That complaint was kinda weird. I honestly found the finished mission slide really weird, but not bothersome.. they just didn't seem to fit, that's all. I guess it goes to show how people are attached to vestigial/cosmetic elements.

What are you playing now?
To be honest, I don't really like Salvatore's work all that much from what I read, but I can't really blame him for something he wasn't involved in. 38 Studios made a really big deal about their 'visionaries' (who actually, from what I understand, didn't do a lot of hands-on work on the actual title save for maybe Rolston), so the misunderstanding is totally understandable. I can't comment on KoA:R characters besides the demo, and they weren't anything special there, nope.
-
What are you playing now?
Salvatore didn't work on the characters at all, he was only involved in the lore of the world.

Tim Cain the underrated
He's in a programmer's position and inXile said they wanted to do all the programming in-house. That's all there is to it I think. P.S. : He's working on South Park as a senior programmer, to be precise.

Justin Cherry also left Obsidian
Loved his art direction in DS3/the NWN2 expansions, and his concept art in general, I was following his Tumblr too... really sad to see him go
-
George Ziets leaving Obsidian (again) (Layoffs related?)
That's a real bummer :/ Best of luck George! Hopefully we'll get to see you do awesome stuff at another studio.

What are you playing now?
Pretty sure it isn't, otherwise Alpha Protocol would indeed have NO C&C like Volo loves to shout. Obviously, 'C&C' has a different definition depending on the circles you ask, and the Codex will keep moving the goalpost, but I'd generally say that providing both story and gameplay consequences what you do works. From the little I've seen Mass Effect 3 works on a similar approach except a lot of the choices are provided in the two early games and that there are fewer consequences on a gameplay front. There's also the ending.. yeah. Let's just ignore that.
