Heh, did you ever read much about the Eberron setting that got made for DnD 3.5? The Orcs, Goblins, etc were the nature lovers and had previously had the classically inspired great civilised empire.. the elves were split between a "mongol horde" group and an "uber-fantasy version of egyptian style ancestor/death worship" (for the simplified explanation). Gnomes were information manipulators, spies, bankers and mercantile masters... That and dragons were not simple "big magic beasties to kill" but were more likely to be Magnificent Bastard manipulators wrapped in engimas, and hidden in the shadows pulling strings over centuries..

I want to pledge immediately, but dang, I need to sharply bite down with self-control and actually get my budget in some order for this month. I'm going to end up having to wait till the end of the month before I finally throw some cash into the ring.. -

Hmm. You know, Walsingham has been MIA around these parts for about the same amount of time funcroc has. Okay, just to let folks know, Walsingham got suckered into a new job a few months back and has been working some really freaking long hours and juggling things to do with it. That's why he hasn't been around.... -
Heh, from a review about the latest Resident Evil film - I'm not sure if that actually makes it tempting to watch just to see how bad it gets...

Yeah. "Managing Director". Basically the CEO, but the term we use in British English, rather then American English. Although with the influence of all those american multinationals, it's tending to be used more as a term for the highest corporate officer in small companies that don't have big executive boards.

I'm not sure whether i should just groan, or make some attempt to slap the back of your head over the internet for that line...

Heh, so the owner and MD of the small company I've been sort of working for the last year was headhunted about 5 months ago. He kept ownership, but got someone else to take over as MD. Now, the current MD has been headhunted. If we don't get the current project pushed forth and actually accepted in the next 3 months.. That means the company pretty much goes into stasis and I've got to make some valiant effort at looking for another job. And because it's all "project based" rather then regularl pay cheque.. it could mean I've spent the last 12 months trying to do all this work..without any actual pay.. Although the current joke is, that they'll make me the MD just so I can put it on my CV and get headhunted 5 months down the line.... Project based work. It can be great when things work, when it doesn't.. it leaves you in a rather awkward place.

I'd say, give us a good, well done rp computer game of pretty much any genre.. We tend to get the majority follows fantasy of some sort, then the few that fall into sci-fi.. Of course, we could count the ways.. Deus Ex had the minor rpg aspects in Techno-Thriller, Alpha Protocol gave us the modern day spy... Mass Effect blew in the Space Opera.. Vampire Bloodlines hit the Gothic/Urban Fantasy... But if we're looking at the pen n paper rpg's, there's far too many varieties to ponder on for adaption.. I think in that format, sci-fi is as common as fantasy. Then followed by Gothic/Dark/Depressing supernatural based games... Heh, what could be nice is a fun pulp action rpg for adaption..

And apparently, the "main bad guy" has a rather illogical death/disapearance for no real reason.. The various comments on it does suggest that they tried to do something clever and innovative.. and completely jumped the shark..

One i have to mention is Taris. While I'm not a huge fan of the world, I actually quite like how they manage to shift the atmosphere and ambience of the world between the Republic and Imperial sides...

Although the possibilities of a reworking of Alpha Protocol in FantasyLand... -
Okay, well I managed to resolve the issue. Even though every checkup I was having it run kept telling me the nforce chipset was up-to-date.. When I manually double-checked it.. it wasn't. One update later, and everythings recognised hunky-dory. Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions.

Wild Target. Bill Nighy as a Master Class Assassin pondering retirement, who suddenly finds himself falling for his latest target, a slightly kooky thief (played by Emma Blunt). Then ends up becoming her protector, whilst eluding the sadistic assassin played by Martin Freeman and sent by Rupert Everett.. Along the way they also pick up Rupert Grint's out of work youth who ends up becoming an apprentice... Of course, both the thief and the "apprentice" believe him to be a private detective of some sort, and all the while he's trying to kill off the other hitmen coming after them.. A nice little british comedy with some unconventional romance in the background.

Nope, Not yet. Still subscription.

Dammit, I like being an anti-social git at times. I don't need no steenkin co-op in my single player games...

Thanks for the idea. Pretty much everything I've seen suggests chipset updates.. But the damn things insist they're the latest updates as it is. Guess I'll keep poking at it..

Windows Vista Ultimate... 32 bit
-
So yes, as a follow on from that.. I picked up a rather nice Western Digital 3TB drive.. but now Windows refuses to recognise it properly. My bios recognises it as 3TB, but windows insists on saying it is simply 750 Gb.. I've initialised it with GUID partition tables instead of MBR due to it being over 2.2TB in size, but natch, that does bugger all to do. It only lets me format it as a 750Gb drive. I've spent a bit of time poking around on forums and they pretty much do the "yes its an issue with drives over x size, that's why you have to use GUID not MBR..".. It's a wee bit annoying. Any suggestions as to what blindingly obviously approach I must be missing? Oh yes, and to confirm, I'm not using it as a boot disk, just a nice spare hard drive to throw things on...

I think you might have me beat by a two, but I haven't done it in a few weeks. Gonna take a day off from gaming today, haven't been getting enough sleep of late. Knight's been gearing up fairly nicely all things considered, but HM battle of ilum was a cluster**** (with a PUG). Need the token from that one for the Redeemer which I absolutely want, so have to prepare to grind out a few times. I can now get headshots on all 14 guards and the target.. and get 13 guards and the target to drop in a way that hides the bodies.. Heh, I still haven't gotten around to doing the later flashpoints of Red Ravager, or the False Emperor. Let along the operations or trying out Hardmode Flashpoints yet.. I really should make that attempt. But now that my Bounty Hunter has finished his storyline, I'm going to push my Jedi Knight through Belsavis.. then onto Voss and Corellia.. My Sith Warrior was wrapping up the bonus series on Taris (i needed some extra cash there..) and then I can make an effort to finish off chapter 2 for him.

My new Western Digital 3TB hard drive turned up , so I plugged that in..initialised it with GUID partition.. and it says it's actually 750Gigs in size.. Hm, and I'm running on Windows Vista Ultimate, so GUID should be working correctly for drives over 2TB.. I shall have to ponder on this. Sorted out the weeks supply of drugs and pills for my mother.. The cat has suddenly taken a turn from being aloof to being a needy meowy feline.. and I've got an assortment of things to juggle with as the day progresses as well.

Well to be fair.. it wasn't strictly speaking going to have much appeal to the people who loved Syndicate. It was set in the same sort of themed universe, but going from tactical/strategy game to glossy first person shooter..

To go along with that surge of religion in the other thread..
