  1. A few tidbits about Windows Vista and DRM: A Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection: http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html Microsoft explains DRM in Vista: http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsv...nd-answers.aspx Scary.

  3. I go to a gym three times a week. I guess that doesn't qualify as a sport though. I also run a few times per week. Every Sunday I play beach volleyball with a gang of friends. Whenever I get the chance, I play hockey. But we haven't even had snow until this weekend here in Sweden! Might get a little ice-time now that they've promised it'll get colder. I play football (soccer, to you weirdos across the sea) in the summer.
  4. The only Fallout-y game I still install and play sometimes (when the mood hits me) is Wasteland. I don't do that for the Fallout's. No idea why.
  5. We are still sitting on wax threads from 1890 (or something). Nothing gets lost in our institution.

8-2. Against Pittsburgh. No matter how crappy your teams are playing, the Leafs will do it worse.
  7. But the question now would be: did you try to restore anything from backup/archive CDs? The CD's are being kept in a cold storage without lights. Whenever a researcher wants to use any of the CD's, he hands us a request and we go get it for him, copy it to a new CD and let him borrow the new one. It's idiotic. And we do use other means of archiving too, of course. We use an Exabyte solution on the side, and we're also going to start using hard drives instead of CD's. Then when someone wants to borrow a few sounds from us, we lend them an MP3 player instead. Smarter.
  8. I work in a place that archives lots and lots of CD's. They won't touch DVD's with five foot pliers. We have archived over 10,000 CD's full of data, and we make around 1,000 more per year..
  9. This game will rule, no doubt about it.

And I have no idea why, but this image somehow reminded me of alanschu:
  11. It's the unwritten law of the Internet: if you ever say something is difficult, ten idiots are bound to immediately come in claim it's the easiest piece of crap they've ever played. It lengthens their e-****. (Case in point: ask Volourn how difficult the Bard's Tale series is for a 6 year old)

Yes, they do. Everytime that 386 they host the server on goes through 1000 posts in a row, it almost chokes. Anyhow, we won 3-2 on away ice! I predicted 5-2, but I'll take 3-2 any day ) The horrible thing is that despite winning a few, we're still second to last in the Northeast, only two points ahead of Boston.. who's played three games LESS than us. We're sooo missing the play-offs this year too. Unless we get like a.. 66%+ win statistic in the last half of the season. Fat chance.

And I predict a 5-2 win for Toronto tonight! Florida, you're gonna get STEENrolled!! That's the new fashionable thing to say now that Alexander Steen is back in his groove. 8 goals in the last 10 games..
  15. I'd like a genetically enhanced stamina. I want to be able to run for as long as I want, work out at the gym for 8 hours in a row and have sex 50 times per day. I can only do 48 right now :'(
  16. Isn't someone playing this yet? The suspense is killing me.
  17. Also, it'll be fun to see what sort of mayhem AMD will cause once they release the K8L in the near future. Not that I have especially high hopes for it, but you never know. It's just not being surrounded by the same positive vibe as Conroe was before it launched..
  18. You've just ordered the best RPG I've played on the Playstation 2.
  19. It's starting to move.. http://www.keshi.org/moin/moin.cgi/PS3/Debian/Live and http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/ppc64/ps3/ Both versions still very basic, but they're up and running now.

Leafs beat Tampa on away ice. Even though Lecavalier scored shorthanded after just a few minutes into the first period. Then and there I thought it was going to be one of those embarrassing blow-out losses again. But the Leafs battled back and Steen (who's been heavily criticized in the media) got the game winning goal. He has now scored 8 goals in his last 10 games. Not bad for someone who just a few weeks ago was deemed worth a bag of pucks in a trade.
  21. If it's any consolation, Vanguard didn't run particularly well on my E6600 + X1950XTX either. It's a beta..
  22. I think it should be outlawed, just like any other narcotic substance. The danger with marijuana is the unpredictability in its effect on people. Some people get mellow and happy, some just feel sick and some end up in a serious psychosis. I really don't think our society needs yet another harmful drug to be easily accessible by everyone.
  23. Just a small tip for anyone playing Silent Storm: WHen you find a grenade called RPG-41, pick it up! It ROCKS! Check out my example: I found this locked door and booby trapped it to blow it up, using the RPG-41. This is the result! The damn thing took down half the building! Am still having a blast. Found a weapon I'd never seen before last night: Seadevil (I think it was called), a very powerful sniper rifle with great range. It was just a random battleground, but the gun was placed on the mantlepiece in one of the houses in the map. There was a huge (and difficult) battle preceding it, so I had a feeling the random encounter was a bit special..
  24. You poor, poor lost soul..
  25. I think the term would be "crispness". I got Oblivion when I had a Radeon 9800 Pro and it worked great, but I couldn't turn on all the effects as I wanted to. So in the middle of the game I bought a Geforce 7800 and continued the game. So for 50 hours I played with a ATI Radeon and for 50 hours I played with a Geforce. The difference was that the image was somehow crisper on the Radeon, while it looked smoother, more muddled on the Geforce. No matter what I did with the settings, I just couldn't get back the same type of image I had with the Radeon. Unless my monitor somehow crapped up in between the two GPU's, I blame the difference on the two brands. I'm not saying ATI has a better image quality (although force of habit makes me prefer it) and I could probably not pick out the ATI from a bunch of different screen shots, but it really felt like I was playing the game with a really dusty monitor for the first few hours after the vide card change. It was weird.
