Oblivion was the first game I've played where I could see a clear distinction between ATI and Nvidia GPU's. Oh, and those high-res texture packs were around at the time I played through the game, so.. been there, done that.

Isn't it kind of odd that Hasek is still this good?

If you have DDR2 memory sticks and a PCI-E socket GPU, then I'd suggest that you get yourself a new motherboard and a Core 2 Duo CPU. I would say the E6600 is the best value for your buck right now. I have one myself and it's easily overclockable to be faster than an X6800 (the fastest Conroe right now) for $800-900. It's a powerhouse. I would not recommend getting a bigger Socket 478 CPU. It's just not worth it. Ps. Yes, Celeron is the value model of the Pentium family.

I tried the Vanguard beta for a day. It was sooo boring I couldn't believe my eyes. It had none of the charm that made World of Warcract so attractive, even for someone like me who isn't really interested in MMORPG's.

The 940B was bought in April 2006. It's not even a year old and it's still inferior to the 193P+. How long do you think they've come?

Ok, uhm, I have a Samsung CRT at home (19", forgot the model) and I work with three different Samsung TFT's (all 19"): SyncMaster 913TM (which sucks, don't buy it, colours are bleak and ugly and I can never get black to actually look like black.. only some crappy gray), SyncMaster 940B (which is ok, but still not even close to the CRT I have at home) and a SyncMaster 193P+ which is the best of the bunch and still it isn't close to my CRT at home when it comes to colours, contrast and picture smoothness. Maybe I just don't like TFT's?

I just want to add that I (now) exclusively buy Hitachi drives for my computer. I used to have Seagate (slow and noisy with a weird hacking sound everytime it did a search), a Western Digital (slow and hot) and a Maxtor (which broke down, the bastard!). I also had an old IBM Deskstar disk that broke down. It was the model with the glass platters. When IBM's hard drive manufacturing was bought by Hitachi, they were improved a great deal. I've been thinking about buying a Seagate though, mainly because of their excellent guarantees. The Raptor.. It's like buying a drive for the price of SCSI but only getting half the performance. And only 150GB, no SATA2 interface and the sound?! Kills the deal for me.

Well, I had 70 action points when I got to that mission. When the cut-scene of the betrayal had played and I was left in the courtyard surrounded by all those soldiers, I noticed that the guy who was supposed to go get the leader for me had gone into a tower on the left side of the courtyard. He left the door open behind him. So I put my character on full run and ran into the tower after him (while triggering a lot of interrupts which luckily only graced me). There's a staircase on the inside and a guy was blocking it so I had to shoot him before I could make it up the first flight. I had to get up a few steps because the Lieutenant who tricked me in the cut-scene was still in there, waiting with some huge machine gun. I survived that first round and the next round I took one step back down, got the Lieutenant in sight and finished him off with a couple of headshots (because firing from above apparently gives you a huge sight advantage). Then I proceeded to sneak through the second floor while being attacked from all directions, which is when the picture is taken, before I noticed how late it was in real life. Now I can't wait to get home from work to continue that mission. I'm especially pleased that I haven't had to reload it a single time yet!

Good. Then I know what to get my friend nilo for Christmas next year. I bought him Metroid Prime somethingsomething this year. He's enjoying it, but can't get the multiplayer to work over the Internet.

Want more pictures? You got them! Still playing Silent Storm. Been messing around with the destruction models in the game and all I can say is that they're awesome. Let me show you some examples: This is an English villa, moments after the final battle has ended. Notice the missing floor tiles and the burning truck. Here's a better picture of the same villa, now with a bird's eye view. Lots of pieces missing. This is just a picture of a rag-doll effect I thought looked neat. He looks crucified ) This mission was cool. No soldiers, just a heavily booby trapped old ruin. This is before.. ..and this is after! Quite a difference. A mechanic shop of some kind. It was fully loaded with oil barrels and gas containers. Boom.. I love this game. I finished the Allies campaign on Normal difficulty and am now playing through the Axis campaign on Impossible. It's not really much more difficult, you just can't save in battles so if you screw up, you'll have to make heavy use of band aids and stuff. But it's much more fun and might even present a challenge sometimes. Like in THIS picture: You start the mission in a courtyard, surrounded by ten (or more) enemy soldiers. I ran like a gazelle into a tower, finished off a guy with two shots to the head and fled up a flight of stairs. Luckily they didn't catch up to me and when the picture was taken I was making my way through one of the upper floors, all the time being chased by aggressive soldiers. Every encircled ear on that picture is a soldier out to get me. Great fun! )

I don't like tattoos or piercings. I can stand ear and navel piercings, but more than that is just ugly. Discreet tattoos can also be nice, if they're well placed and of tasteful designs. I've even seen a few lower back tattoos (lovingly known as tramp stamps) that have looked nice. I would guess 90% of everyone in Sweden between the ages of 15-23 has at least one piercing or tattoo. It's a trend that's been going on for a few years.

What? Oh, you mean that Neanderthal sport of ice hockey? Well, my dear man, I've moved on to more distinguished sports now. Like the gentlemen's sport of curling. And the tactical finesse that is horse polo. I can't say I am bothered with those club wielding Leafs anymore, sorry.

I shot a guy through the head and the stray bullet took down a piece of the wall. Cool! I have no idea how he got up there, but the ragdoll effect worked wonders on his way down..

1-1.. Toronto really needs a win tonight. GO LEAFS GO!

I fell in love with one of the girls in my class when she told me she had a Vic-20. I was like 13 at the time and it was probably the only time in my life I had my priorities straight. Now I enjoy boobs more. Bah!

I vaguely remember finding a longsword +5 in Pool of Radiance..? I don't remember that as a high level setting though. You had to fight a lot of battles before you found that sword so it felt deserved when you finally got it. I wonder if I remember it wrong though? I mean, I played this game probably almost 20 years ago!

I like this site: http://www.storagereview.com/ This is one of the reasons why I usually go for the Hitachi brand of hard drive. I have my eyes on the revised version of Hitachi's Deskstar T7K500 500GB. http://www.storagereview.com/php/benchmark..._3=322&devCnt=4 (I am mostly concerned with the gaming performance, which is where Hitachi dominates)

Perhaps. But it would stil be fun to see what a Core 2 Duo X6800 (or whatever you developer types use) would need to "burn" those same lightmaps today. Surely not seven hours?

You guys need to check out the trailer on Gametrailers, the one where the player takes down a helicopter. It really resembles the best moments in Boiling Point (a small favourite of mine) and that's a good thing! Let's see if this link works: http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=16173&type=mov Ps. It works. If you turn off Ad Block Plus in Firefox..

And become EA. No thanks. Gothic and Gothic 2 are two of the best games I've ever played, and they managed those two using their existing team. This time around (as he explained) they were building the engine from the ground up on the vision they've had from the first game in the series: to make the world react to everything the player wants to do. And, as he admits, that didn't work out as well as they had hoped, as the story became buried in the game. They should (logically) do better in the add-on. It's not official yet, but I know the Piranha Bytes team is dying to redeem themselves with the add-on. Then we'll see what they'll work on next. I, too, feel the Gothic series is completed. The Nameless story is done. I'm hoping they'll continue making RPG's with huge gameworlds and open ended gameplay, but everything else is exchangeable.

You sir, have far too much knowledge to be merely human. metadigital, indeed! Yes. He knew that. And his **** is 10 inches long. Non erect.

So they would somehow redeem themselves by not supporting the customers who bought Gothic 3..? You want them to not work on the next patch? Great logic.
