What the hell goes on at the Washington Capitals practice sessions..? "Semin gets a plus for incredible accuracy, even when they're just messing around. With Ovechkin hiding behind the net at the other end of the ice, Semin feathered the puck the length of the ice, off the glass and nailed Oveckin in the butt." http://www.tsn.ca/tsn_talent/columnists/gino_reda/ Hahaha!
  2. I recently loaded up Freedom Force again (after finding the patch that allowed me to run it in Windows XP SP2). It wasn't really fun at all.
  3. A quick tidbit on The Precursors, one of the games I'm following with interest: http://pc.gamezone.com/news/02_16_07_01_44PM.htm It still sounds a bit like Mass Effect to me..
  4. Embarrassingly enough I thought "The Sixth Sense" was really, really scary. I saw it in a theatre and I went into the movie salon thinking it was a drama.. or a thriller.. I must have a phobia against vomiting girls or something. That scene from Fanny and Alexander where Alexander is locked up in the attic and the two dead twin sisters come and puke all over him also ranks at the top of the scariest movie scenes ever for me. In real life I don't have anything I'm scared about. Sometimes I worry over how my life would be if my girlfriend left me, but it's more of a sad feeling than a scary one to think about that. My girlfriend has a real phobia over frogs. It's weird.

Hey, Oilers! This is the guy you need to stop if you're going to play the Leafs!

Pittsburgh beating the Devils on the road.. Who ever thought they'd be this good already? I mean, their top two players are younger than Chelios even if put together
  7. Download Irfanview (best picture viewer) and load the picture in TGA (targa). Then save it as whatever you want, be it JPG or PNG or even GIF if you're feeling a little crazy.
  8. You have a motherboard with a dedicated CPU and RAM just for the network capabilities? Which brand and model is that? My motherboard has dual Gigabit LAN too (of which I am using one) but it's not anywhere near the same technology as is offered by the Killer card.
  9. even YOUR plot shows that it is cooler... sheesh, can't even read your own data. I had a feeling you'd fail to read that graph, as it's not entirely logical. Read it again though: it shows the net mean temperature based on the starting year you choose relative to now. If you choose to start in 1957 (which are the oldest readings) the relative temperature change is +0.4 C. If you choose to start in 1970 (and disregard all the other readings before that date) you'd get another value, and so on. Regardless, you claimed that temperatures for the entire Antarctic region were "significantly" lower. This graph just disproves your BS, no matter how you read it. When will you stop pulling crap out of your ass and actually present something tangible and reliable? We don't know. Which is why we must rely on unreliable statistics to see some sort of pattern. Like this one: We do know for a fact that we're pumping out enormous amounts of green house gas into the atmosphere. This fact together with the temperature readings are what's making the "alarmists" send out warnings. No, I don't. But it's the best we have. Unless you can dig up 1000 year old global temperature records somehow? Or are you suggesting that because we don't have enough data to draw a conclusion with at least 99% probability of being right, we should just disregard the fact that there are more green house gas in the atmosphere and the short time we have measured shows an increase in temperatures around the globe? Thanks for the advice, but I have a lot of university credits in statistics already. Which helps me explain this whole idea behind statistics: they're used to show a pattern. There's no absolute truth in statistics. Yes, we would have a much higher probability of being right if we had 1000 years of statistics to lean on. We'd see a pattern that would (probably) be right about 99% of the times. We only have 60 odd years or so of reliable temperature recordings from around the globe. So what does this mean? Are they automatically drawing the wrong conclusions because of the puny sample rate? No. The only thing that differs between having 1000 years of data and 60 years of data is the probability that the pattern they're discerning is correct. Apparently a lot of scientists with far more knowledge on the subject than any of us on this board reckon that's enough of a sample to draw a conclusion from.

I just realized that if you only counted Sidney Crosby's assists, he would still rank in the top 20 in points in the NHL. The Kid has more helpers than 500+ players in the NHL has combined points.
  11. A cheaper alternative to the Killer card has been released: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/2/prweb504722.htm Read more about it here: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=6100 Why doesn't Bokishi own one of these yet?!

I'm just glad they chose to trade Forsberg a few minutes before the game against my Leafs started :D Three goals in the first period and then hang on for the win.. for the win! The Leafs needed those points.
  13. I'm sad to say that me and my cousin have given up on playing Neverwinter Nights 2 co-op. It is too clunky, slow and boring to play that game together. Why did they make it so the game freezes for all players as soon as one player engages in a dialogue? That's my biggest complaint. It truly makes the game unplayable in co-op in my opinion. We just couldn't take all the waiting around that being in Neverwinter (with all its dialogues) brought forth. You can't even check up on your player or sort your inventory while the other player is chatting! Horrible. Also, the combat never got exciting. No aiming, no active skill usage (at least not for my rogue), useless skills all around (Darkness?! WTF?!) and just one click and then waiting until the game wins the battle and lets you insta-rest everyone up to full. In five seconds flat. And what's with the forced companionship even in multiplayer?! I play multiplayer so I won't HAVE to bring with me dull NPC's! Yet they're forced upon me. Even though we both were playing evil characters, the NPC's kept clinging to us, completely opposite to their own beliefs. That's just stupid. I will now try to finish the game in single player so I don't feel like I've just wasted 350 SEK on this game. Huge disappointment anyhow.
  14. We can also not rule out that this might be the start of a new ice age and we're actually making it warmer. What we CAN do is measure the amount of gas and pollution we mix into the natural order of things and from there try to measure the impact we've caused to the natural variations in the climate. So far everything points to us making it warmer, no matter what the natural variations would do themselves.

I really REALLY hope the X2800XTX comes with a cooler like this: Best cooler design ever!
  16. No, the Antarctic is NOT significantly cooler. There are parts that are warmer and there are parts that are cooler. The net for the entire gigantic area we're talking about is slightly warmer. Source: http://igloo.atmos.uiuc.edu/ANTARCTIC/TRENDS/ To put the taks BS in perspective: the world is reacting to the gigantic amounts of solar energy being stored within our atmosphere because of the green house effect. Since weather, turbulence and movement of water masses follow a chaotic formula, we can not with certainty say why some places get colder and some places get warmer. Does that mean that every climate scientist in the world who thinks we're warming the planet wrong? I don't think so, but feel free to form your own opinion. The image above shows a picture which is easier to understand. It shows mean temperatures around the world for the last ten years, compared to 40 years of mean temperatures around the world. The blue areas is where it's gotten colder, the yellow/red areas is where it's gotten warmer. This graph shows the global annually averaged surface temperatures.
  17. Ok, now we know the graphics are going to be prettier: http://www.gamershell.com/companies/idv/332996.html SpeedTree for teh win!!
  18. Yeah. An uglier tribe.
  19. Sweden is situated further north than Siberia. Yet Siberia gets temperatures down to -50 C on a yearly basis while we seldom go under -30 C and then only in the utmost northern parts. As kirottu mentioned, this has to do with the water flows outside Norway. If the polar ices start melting at a more rapid speed than they currently are, this stream will be redirected to some other part of the world and Sweden will become colder and colder until it is practically uninhabitable.
  20. What the.. Here I was, fully packed, panicking and ready to flee the country.. and then I see THIS?! MOTHERF..! I lose
  21. That's my job. No. Now go back to your WoW-cage. I see you've only clocked 57 hours online and it's Wednesday already. That means that you've only been playing 57 hours out of 72 possible hours! I fully expect you to regain this loss by playing for 25 hours a day the next three days.
  22. I would bet it's a pretty free job when it comes to working hours. At least I know that's how it is in one of the development houses in my town (NO NAMES NO NAMES). They can practically come strolling in at noon (some weird coders just can't get their asses out of bed in the mornings), but if they produce the results they're supposed to and put in 40 hours per week, then it's ok. The problem is that they can be tough to get hold of for the other members of the team if they only work at night or something so I would assume they have some unwritten rules about that. But that's just my own guess.
  23. Hmm.. I don't like what I am hearing. Getting rid of text, party based adventuring, third layer? Sounds a bit suspect to me. The Origin stories sounds cool though. And the only "screenshot" I liked was this one: Although I suspect they are renders and not actual screenshots. Like the ones you saw from Gothic 3 before the game was released..
  24. What happens in November? Will I regret asking this question..?

This is what I am getting. This is why I paid a bundle of money for my specialized PSU. Now to sell my X1950XTX 512MB GDDR4..
