I thought this was about Rage Against the Machine

actually, last time i checked sweden announced they were cutting back on benefits to be more competitive. also, i never said the US was a model non-socialist society. why don't you pay attention to what i DID say, not what you think i said. Where did I claim you said the US was a model non-socialist society? I provided my quote above. Read it again and more carefully this time. Or go back to my former post. Stop putting your words in my.. uh.. posts. I claimed no such thing. You, on the other hand, claim every socialist country will bankrupt itself eventually. Sweden has been a socialist country for almost 100 years now. Our finances are very healthy. Sweden is doing very good right now. Now please back up YOUR claim with something substantial, like a link. Just your fanatic right-wing word isn't exactly good enough here. (Source for my claim about Swedish finances: http://www.sweden.gov.se/sb/d/7341/a/73669 ) Here's a cute little link to illustrate US finances (to get you started): http://www.americaneconomicalert.org/ticker_home.asp never commented on health, i only commented on healthcare. the US has the best overall health care in the world, which is why people come here, not everywhere else. Ok, so you still say the US has the best health care AND you imply that the quality of healthcare is somehow not connected to the general health of the people? Please tell me how you'd measure the quality of health care if not by measuring rates of death, infant deaths and stuff like that? This time provide some sort of [evidence]. Until you do you're just [making statements and can be called a fabulist]. oops, it's based on how much they spend? funny, sounds like a socialist ideal to me. Yes, it's one factor. But here, I'll help you (since you only managed to read HALF the sentence by yourself): now try to concentrate on the bolded part. Also, notice the word "including"? That means there are more factors in the equation, as not all are listed here. See? They measure how healthy the general population is. The name is a hint: HEALTHcare. You measure how well your healthcare is doing by measuring how people's general health is. Easy! If you know how to read.. the US system is better, sorry to say. healthcare in the US is runaway expensive because, in part (note i say IN PART), we have to help support all the even more socialist lazy-ass countries that refuse to pay market rate for things developed here (like drugs, for example). Yes, you keep claiming that. Can you point us in the direction of ANYTHING that backs up your claims? Or are you counting on the "if I repeat it enough times it might come true" effect? Oh, and your government doesn't even allow for stem cell research (because of religious crap!).. Yeah, I bet you're at the top of bioengineering research and development.. To sum it up: A link to something showing that US healthcare (or the "US system") is the best in the world? A link to something that shows the US "support all the even more socialist lazy-ass countries"? This might be true, I just never heard of Sweden (for example) needing any aid from the US.. I'm not really interested in discussing the US-exploited South American countries. A link to something that clearly shows that every socialist country eventually bankrupts itself? Come on taks, you old wind bag, you can do it! Edit: A link added.

"It can double as a fighting knife." HAHAHA!

So you claim US healthcare is better than Swedish healthcare? Ok, provide me a link. You claim every socialist country will bankrupt itself eventually? Last time I checked, Swedish finances were much healthier than US. But go ahead and provide a link to prove that too. Or are you talking out of your arse about stuff you know nothing about? "do a little research and try to rely on news articles a little less and you won't look like such the fool as you always do." Sigh.. Irony, I guess. Edit: Just a quick tidbit I found very easily (on Google): "Western Europe, Not the US, Ranks as World's Healthiest Region Western Europe is the healthiest region in the world, new rankings of health systems show. But the survey, which places the US and UK relatively low, suggests that spending a lot of money is not enough to guarantee high standards of health. The survey of the health status of people in 175 countries, released on Monday, ranked nine Western European countries in its top 10, with Belgium heading the list followed by Iceland, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Italy and Norway. Australia is the highest placed non-Western European country in the list, in joint tenth place with Germany and Denmark. The United States was ranked 17th, just behind Israel, while the UK came in 23rd place, after Greece. The index measured the health status of individuals by looking at the amount each country spent on its people's health and at health indicators including life expectancy, infant immunization rates and death rates of mothers and babies. It was developed by World Markets Research Center, a company that analyses businesses. Source: http://www.mercola.com/2002/apr/10/health.htm (I couldn't find the original one) Iceland, Sweden and Norway are socialist countries. Second, seventh and ninth place in the world. Pretty good for a couple of bankrupt countries with sub-standard healthcare, huh?

Uhm, if someone used my guns to murder someone, the police would find out in an instant. Hunting rifles were never meant for "home defence" anyhow. And speaking of that.. Yeah, I forgot. You're the "lighthouse of democracy in the world" and you're en entire country full of freedom fighters. In every other country on the planet, freedom is defined by not having to own a gun to defend your home against anyone. Hey, try this, freedom fighters: Go out on your street and shout "I'm going to kill President Bush!" and see how much freedom you really have. Freedom to you is being able to buy as many guns as you want. Freedom to me is not having to own a gun and still feel safe (and being able to say what I want).
-
I can't believe you're still going on with this.. If everyone already has a gun, making new gun laws won't change a thing. If you've had strict gun laws for 600 years, then the laws have done their thing and gun related crimes are very low. Mainly because it's not that easy to get a gun for "heat of the moment" crimes. Does anyone here honestly believe that Sweden's gun related crimes would drop if this Monday our government suddenly would let us all buy guns in every supermarket? Everyone can get a gun already. You apply for a hunter's license. Then you go through a number of tests. If you manage those (they take around a year to complete), you get the licence. Then you apply for a weapon license. If you have no criminal record (violent crimes, I assume), then you get a weapon license. Then you have to buy TWO safes: one for the weapon and one for the bolt. Then you're free to buy a shotgun or a rifle for hunting. No handguns. Unless you join a gun club. Then you don't have to go through all those tests, and you can own Uzi's, Glocks or whatever makes your **** hard. The only thing is that you don't get to take the weapon home with you. You have to keep it in the club safe and you only get to fire it in the club locales.

CRAAAAP! Second loss in a row, this time at home in overtime against the Penguins! Gaah!

Things are looking brighter for the Playstation 3's future: "In terms of Cell on 65nm, Yuhara said only that production is presently underway." "Yuhara indicated seperately that as of December, blue laser diode yields have improved greatly..." Source: http://www.beyond3d.com/index.php#news38360 I also read today that a new firmware update will allow the Playstation 3 to do background downloading, just like the Xbox 360: Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=72821 The Playstation 3 is shaping up. Hidden potential and all that crap that Epiphany so vehemently denies.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't think they meant sweaty hands when they wrote that article. And sweat.. Geez, I remember when I was a member of ACC (Academic Computer Club) at my university. They had this club room full of old Sun computers that the university had donated, and the entire room was saturated with a sour sweat stench of the nerds that sat in that room 16 hours per day. It was impossible to be in that room for more than a minute at a time. The mega nerd (every club has one) had an aggressive stench that attacked your nostrils a full five meters before he actually walked past you. One funny thing though: They had a Coca Cola vending machine outside the club room. That vending machine had a plaque on it (placed there by Coca Cola) that said: Sweden's third most selling vending machine. The nerds drank so much Coca Cola that they actually won a prize for it!

CRAP. I guess that's why they're freaking leading the NHL. A lot of small, shifty guys who are confident with the puck.. Let's hope the Leafs can bounce back in their next game against one of the hottest (of not THE hottest) teams in the NHL right now: the Pittsburgh Penguins.

I once saw an interview with her on Swedish television. She was the dumbest person on the planet when she was alive. I think her death raised the world's collective IQ noticeably.

Yeah, it feels like the game was made for co-op. Except.. it doesn't have it

If anyone but me is interested in STALKER, then here's the publisher's version of a game related home page: http://www.stalker-videogame.com/ Quite a lot of text to read in the flash-hell that is that page at least.

Five road games in a row isn't a tad bit sadistic..?
-
The Leafs last four games: Won road game against Carolina Hurricanes. Won road game against NY Rangers. Won road game against Ottawa. Won road game against St.Louis Blues. Leafs next game? Road game against Nashville Predators. The NHL schedule makers are sadists.

Oh no, don't come into the NHL thread cheering for a WINNING team! In here, we're all losers cheering for crappy teams at the bottom of every conference Oh how I've dreaded this day, when a Wings/Preds/Sabres fan would find their way in here.. to mock us to tears..

Ok, I'm at work and I don't feel like working, so I made a list of the top games on my mind.. Mostly for myself so I don't accidentally forget about them. The Precursors (2007): A huge open-ended RPG in the same veins as Mass Effect, ie. space exploration and planet exploration combined! You'll be able to directly control a space ship and do battles, while also being able to explore cities and planets on foot in first person perspective. Made by Deep Shadows, one of my new favourite developers (after seeing the work they did on Boiling Point). Check out the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SctqV7Xoyg0 Boiling Point 2, aka. White Gold (2007/2008): Successor to the open-ended FPS/RPG hybrid that was Boiling Point. Boiling Point was extremely buggy and unfinished at release, but I really think Deep Shadows redeemed themselves with the last patch they released for the game. While the game was flawed, I can't help myself from admiring their ambition level. There's no "we can't do that" in this team, it seems. Boiling Point was filled to the brim with ideas, some executed more efficiently than others, but the fact that they even dared to take on such an ambitious project was good enough for me. Boiling Point 2/White Gold is a development of the first game, based on the Vital Engine 3. No idea what that means, but since Boiling Point was based on Vital Engine 2, I assume that this will be bigger, better and.. uh.. prettier. Check out some early (not-so-impressive) screens: http://deep-shadows.com/en/gallery.php?pr=8 They will also release the first trailer from White Gold this February. Other titles of interest: STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, March 2007. Crysis, 2007. Alan Wake, ~2008.

Well, if I didn't become excited about a game or other every now and then, I'd be in the totally wrong line of work, don't you think? Ps. We never publish a review based on just one editor's opinion, in the hope that not everyone on the team has fallen for the same hype.
-
Woohoo! Leafs win fifth straight! On away ice against the St.Louis Blues! What a difference a red-hot goalie makes. In other news: Ovechkin is slumping (for his standards) and Crosby keeps getting point after point after point.. It even looks like the Penguins will be able to make the play-offs this year! Who would have thought that? I never thought Malkin would be this good this early. Same with little Staal. And Recchi is playing his best hockey in a decade. And their young goalie is starting to evolve into a real starter. All they lack is an arena..
-
No, I haven't even installed it yet. But I am eagerly awaiting the last patch for it so I can finally play it! Ok, I am a stupid pack-rat that falls for even the slightest type of hype. Shut up.

I might have to mention that I ordered the Collector's Edition and I included postage & packaging in the price..

Idea Would Require Couples to Have Kids

Any law that could (theoretically) help Finns reproduce faster is a BAD law. Trust me. -
I disagree. Well, not that they don't need programmers, but I don't think the need for a great artist disappears because they get a great coder. Just look at World of Warcraft as a shining example: it's nothing special from a technical point of view, still the game is incredibly atmospheric and beautiful because of the fantastic art direction and skillful artists.
