  1. And you keep repeating the same kind of Hades you've been obsessively ranting for years. You're so full of Hades, Sand. Don't even try to pull the "please post constructively" card. There's a huge difference between FPS and RPG. Still. A FPS is a shooter while a RPG is about role playing. Just because more and more RPG's are using the first person view (thank god) doesn't mean the game mechanics are becoming the same. There's still a world of difference between Doom 3 and Oblivion.

Got to see Buffalo - Washington and NYI - NYR tonight. The Islanders looked surprisingly good and Yashin was fantastic. He's dangerous everytime he touches the puck. Good to see him back to old form. I missed the first period of the Buffalo game.. which was unfortunate since they scored like a billion goals in that period. But after that I saw it all and Briere looked great. Ovechkin looked like he was missing a step, despite him scoring one. He wasn't as physical as I've seen him before. I hope he isn't getting tired of the game already.
  3. Isometric games feels like playing with dolls. First person games feels like playing the role. I do enjoy third person games too though. Like the Gothic's.
  4. Not quite true. If you have to make the new technology backwards compatible with the old hardware, then yes, you might have to do some sacrifices in how huge steps forward you can take. But if you look at Sony's solution for the Playstation 2, that's not the case. They could do whatever they wanted with the new hardware because they crammed the entire Playstation One onto one separate chip on the mainboard of the Playstation 2, thus leaving the new hardware unaffected by compatibility issues. The Playstation 3 is also not effected in the way you describe (nor is the Xbox 360) because they use software for emulation. The new hardware can remain completely unaffected by old hardware if emulation is achieved through software. Well, it is supposed to be software on the Playstation 3 (I think), but the initial Playstation 3's (see EE * GS chip) include an entire Playstation 2 on one chip instead. Still, it allowed Sony to go all out when they designed the Playstation 3, because there was no need for the new hardware to adhere to old standards.
  5. I've been playing more games on the Xbox 360. Need For Speed: Carbon, Tony Hawk: Project 8 and Gears of War. I don't know if I've been unlucky but all those games.. well, suck. Gears of War awed me with its impressive graphics at first, but after a few hours (and hundreds of the same enemy over and over, behind the same indestructible covers) I actually think the game sucks. It's like.. the Xbox 360 equivalent of the Playstation 2/Xbox game Black. Fantastic to look at and fun for a few hours, but oh so horribly shallow after another few hours. Game of the year MY ASS. Need For Speed: Carbon didn't even look like an Xbox 360 game and it's so totally devoid of feeling I just wanted to cry. Play Burnout 3: Takedown instead. EA sucks. Tony Hawk: Project 8 is not especially pretty and the animations for when you fall off your skateboard are pathetic. But it's at least very challenging and fun.. Unless you've never played a Tony Hawk game in your life before because I imagine it might be too difficult for a complete newbie. Oh, and I've also dabbled with Metroid Prime: Hunters on the Nintendo DS Lite. It's actually quite good, even though the graphics remind me of Daggerfall's graphics.
  6. I've been playing a lot more Gears of War. In co-op. But not even that stops the game from becoming repetitive and boring after a while. Gears of War deserves a 10 for graphics (they're just.. awesome.. except the blood which just looks silly), but beyond that it just has to be the most over-hyped piece of software I've ever heard of. And what's up with the online games? 4 people at once?! Stop it, you're killing me with your massive advancements in technology!! Geez.

I got to see both the Oilers game and the Leafs game tonite. Although the scores were the same, the games were very different. The Oilers battled valiantly and lost to one of the top teams, although it might as well have gone the other way. The Leafs were humiliated in their own arena by a team that shouldn't even be considered for a play-off spot (yet), and only the Leafs captain was awake and battling. Sometimes it sucks being a Leafs fan. Go Leafs go.

Sucker punch! And my Leafs didn't play tonight. Boo.
  9. I think I'm going to have to post a picture of my father's .50 caliber gun.. I hope he still has it. It looks grotesque and every time you fire it, you end up staring into the blue, wondering what the hell happened. Don't even think about firing two consecutive shots with it.
  10. I think the importance of backwards compatibility kind of speaks for itself this generation. Why else would every console manufacturer have backwards compatibility as a major selling point? I mean, both Nintendo and Sony have bragged about their deals with publishers for older titles to become available for their systems. Microsoft are (slowly) trying to increase the backwards compatibility with their older system while at the same time offering old retro games on their Live Arcade service. They wouldn't bother unless they figured that's what the market demands.
  11. Well, in one case you're REMOVING the graphics altogether, while in the other case you're just replacing one controller with another. That's not really a fair comparison. A better comparison would be to switch from a 1080p TV to a 480p TV and then ask if the game would still be fun, like this: What if we replaced your HDTV (1080p) with a normal TV (480p)? Would the game be fun? Most likely. Let's take away that motion sensor and make you play the game with a regular controller. Is the game still fun? Most likely. Great graphics are nice to have, but they aren't near as important as you make them out to be.

*BOOM* That's the sound of the Leafs being blown out by.. Florida?! Geez. Oh, I still remember last season when Sundin scored 4 and added 2 assists in a 6-5 win against Florida.. Sigh. Those were the days. Except we missed the play-offs.
  13. Mine is quite boring right now:
  14. I liked this little piece of text: "But as much of an annus horribilis as 2006 was for the PS3, don't write its epitaph yet. The console is easily the most technologically sophisticated gaming machine this side of a tricked-out $4,500 PC rig. Its true potential probably won't be realized until the end of 2007, when such titles as Metal Gear Solid 4 arrive. (Remember how poorly reviewed the 360 launch lineup was?) Also, the PS3's online capabilities are in their infancy: By the end of next year, hundreds of Sony games and thousands of Sony-produced shows, movies, and songs will be a few Sixaxis strokes away from your living room." Source: http://www.gamespot.com/special_features/b...ex.html?page=13 That's bound to get Epiphany's blood boiling
  15. There's not much to discuss, really. Just as any job with insecure working conditions would be banned, so must prostitution be treated. Not many people have the ability to work as a prostitute and not become emotionally scarred, if any. If prostitution could ever be as safe and harmless as any ordinary day job, it would be legal (except of course if the social rules would ban it instead.. a different matter). It's too bad that will never happen, as there's clearly a need for prostitutes, for different reasons.
  16. The best romance ever was seen in Gothic 2: Enter brothel, pay 50 gold, follow the woman to her room, 20 second steamy cut-scene, BAM!, done. Any more than that and I'm not interested.

Sid the Kid really is something special. Ovechkin had a hat trick and still he's being outrun by Crosby (who had four points!). Yup, it feels like noone's going to be able to catch him this year. Barring an injury. And he's only 19! How good can he become?! Scary. The Leafs won their second in a row to improve to 2-7 in their last nine. But it was an away-win against the reigning Stanley Cup champs.. so I'll gladly take it. And the captain played well again. Let's hope that's the end of his elbow problems now.

Odd, I thought that was Leafs fans. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. We're more like one part apathetic, one part quivering-heap-of-snot-and-tears-in-foetus-position-on-the-floor. Go.. Leafs.. Go..
  21. And you should always trust what Hades says! He never flip-flops. Never. Ever. This statement is worth about as much as a fart in space.. Or a grain of Sand in Sahara..
  22. But there will soon be an AGP version of the X1950PRO card. I'd recommend that.
  23. The first attempt as burning the goat took place tonite! But the damn goat is so well protected that not a single straw was burnt! I don't think you'll be able to even spot (on the live camera that is) where the fire was. One of the red ribbons was slightly damaged, but nothing else. BOO!

Uhm.. Crosby, ever hear of a difficult sophomore season?! No, didn't think so. I still enjoy watching Ovechkin and his physical pitbull style more than Crosby, but the kid really oozes talent. I have a frightening feeling we're still only seeing parts of his talents. I mean, if this is his difficult season, what will next season be like?
