Or you mean dumbed-down? In this context, it sounds like editing out a lot of unnecessary text is related to making the game dumber, as if being able to read through ten thousand words that does not interest you somehow makes you more intelligent than the player who enjoys playing the game instead. Hypocrite. Ok, explain to me why I am a hypocrite? In the above quote I'm guessing that the reason why I feel console games are dumbed down is because the games are getting easier and easier. It doesn't really have anything to do with intelligence, unless you enjoy playing games published by Mensa. Your definition of dumbing down is if you have to READ less. Two different definitions, yes? So how am I a hypocrite? You may want to look up the definition of the word first.

Surprisingly kind review of Gothic 3 from Gamespot: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/gothic3/review.html 7.6/10 is not too shabby of a game buggy enough to challenge even the mighty Daggerfall for the Throne of the Bug Kingdom!

Yes, because being able to read pseudo-intellectual fantasy dialogue is truly a sign of great intelligence. Never mind game play, never mind unessential to the story, it's all about feeling intellectual! The reason Planescape: Torment failed was that it was a one-trick pony. If you enjoyed the setting, you had a chance to delve deeper into the story and you could enjoy everything the game had to offer. However, if you had no interest in the planes and the main character, there was nothing else the game had to offer. I guess you could call it focused or niche, but to me that's just bad game design. But I do love how everyone who enjoyed Planescape: Torment are like, "I enjoyed a game, therefore I am more intelligent than thou"..

I slept four hours between Saturday and Sunday, helped a friend move from a crappy apartment to another crappy apartment (but this new one is worth $215,000) in another town, got back home and fell asleep on the sofa, woke up and rushed to this thread to tell you all about my exciting life!!1

Did you also get that mouse-control mod for Doom? I dont remember what it was called, but it added jumping and WASD + mouse and made the game feel.. modern, almost. That and the OpenGL mod plus sharper textures helped.

And tonite we have to shoot holes on Huet, arguably the hottest goalie in the NHL right now! That's a difficult task, but we've lost three straight and four out of our five latest. We have to start winning, and Sundin really has to get going again after his injury. GO LEAFS GO!

At least you weren't blown out of the building by the Thrashers.. Suddenly my early season playoff hopes just up and disappeared.. Sigh.

I agree. Especially if you drive it at 60 mph as recommended. But what happens if you drive it in 180 mph and the brakes catch fire because they were not designed for such high speeds? Is the car dealership still responsible for selling you a faulty product? Remember that Nintendo advises users to use small movements. These persons obviously did not. The strap is there to prevent you from dropping it when you're doing normal movements. It's not supposed to be able to withstand anything stupid users can think of to strain it.

Just suggesting that the morons take responsibility for their own actions. Something that Americans seem to have a tough time doing. I mean, when you have to have a label that says "Do not drink" on every gas pump in the country, something is wrong. And I'm pretty sure that throwing your Wii-mote at the screen wasn't in the original design.

If you think that is bad, you should check out IGN's review of Gothic 3. http://pc.ign.com/articles/747/747903p1.html 4.9/10! Apparently Americans aren't so hot on bugs

I just blew my nose and I think my brain flew out. Is that healthy..?

Well, for me personally, the games available for the Xbox 360 stinks. I've already played Oblivion on my PC, and then what? If I want a really good RPG for the Xbox 360, what should I get? Also, I like good sandbox games (a la GTA). What's there for me to play? There are plenty of FPS's on the Xbox 360, but only one (of the really good ones, and it's a third person shooter) is Xbox 360 exclusive. Which is good, because I really think shooters are more fun with WASD + mouse anyhow. The Playstation 3 is in an even worse situation, game wise. But that'll have changed once it's released in Europe sometime next year. By the way, I thought this was kind of funny: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3155480 Wii had the crappiest launch games of the three new ones?! Edit: speeling.

Oh, and Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay is the best movie-to-game adaptation ever.

Anyone want to take bets on when Lovewolf's hours played in World of Warcraft passes the amount of posts he has on this board..?

I am perfectly aware of all the benefits we get from letting the rest of the world act as beta-testers for us. But it's that horrible attitude that Sony has against Europe that makes my buttocks itch. They even said, "Europe doesn't mind waiting, they'll buy it anyhow", which is true.. I just wish we could prove Sony wrong and NOT buy it whenever they deem us worthy of purchasing their high flying product. Another reason for a boycott would be the fact that not only do they (Sony) let us wait longer, they also translate the prices directly from $ to

The first time a hard disk failed on me was during the summer of 2004. I was taking a programming course and had everything saved on that hd. Two months of hard work just.. blew up. I failed that course, I just didn't have it in me to start all over, even though I think I had like almost three weeks left (or something) before it was due in. It was horrible.

Hey! I resent that! Everyone can have a bad hair day! Here's me with my hair done: -
I was searching for a tidbit about the Playstation 3 that we argued about on these forums a while back, but then I ended up reading a bunch of old threads and forgot what I was looking for.. But it wasn't entirely fruitless! I found this post, by our very own profit Epiphany, that I thought was kind of funny in hindsight: He starts off strong with this bold claim (we'll ignore his DirectX 10 debacle for now).. ..and a few lines later in the post comes this claim: Oblivion is Xbox 360 exclusive! I think it's common knowledge by now that Oblivion will indeed come to the Playstation 3. Because he was so clearly proven wrong earlier in the same post I thought this last little paragraph was hilarious. ) Ahem.. back to searching!

I go to the gym and lift the same weights thirty times to increase my real life strength skill. Just as I know my scoring chances at the beach 2007 will increase if I do this tedious task, I know that my rewards in the game will be so much sweeter if I do some tedious things in them. It's just another way of increasing the work-reward ratio.
