BREAK BREAK - Fallout New Vegas in Steam sale
WDeranged replied to Walsingham's topic in Computer and Console
Danke. Sawyer's mod looks to be a hardcore roolz overhaul. Impressive. Other than making the game tougher, what makes it more enjoyable/better when compared to vanilla hardcore rules? It's hard to quantify really, I've done one playthrough with it and I really enjoyed how it prolonged the challenge and made scavenging/crafting much more important. Best thing to do is check out the changelog, he spells it all out -
I've started reading The Hedge Knight series, I like the idea of getting a George Martin fix without being locked into another epic. Towards the end it felt like someone telling you a story about one of their uncles going fishing. I'm sure Herbert found it interesting to tell. But I wanted some ****ing action, not just a sequence of events. Yeah it felt like it was missing a few hundred pages, maybe he felt a little bit silly for unleashing a Marvel superhero on Arrakis

I just finished reading Children of Dune, though I'm a bit amused by the whole sandtrout thing I thought it was a good book, it was long but perhaps it could have been just a bit longer, Leto II's rise felt rushed compared to Paul in the first book.

I'm going through a bit of a "WD can't play games" period, it feels like wasting time...which is insane because I'm managing to waste my time in loads of other ways but there you have it Currently I need to complete Arkham Asylum but my interest has trailed off, I'm mostly hanging on for nostalgia and the respectful use of the setting. I'll probably pick up that Walking Dead DLC if it hits the sale, I could handle a bit of passive gaming.

Sounds like your nan's still got some fire Raithe, I don't blame her for being wary of NHS treatment for the elderly, hope she gets through it. As for me, I had a mildly stressy day and should be going to bed but I can't stop watching The Guild...

Graphically the only thing that really bugged me about Skyrim was the mid ground detail, most of the time they can hide it but now and again you notice that everything between you and the distant mountains is a blurry mess.

Oh I'm not saying it would, I'm just saying I'd pay Obsidian for some Skyrim in space

Spent the last couple of weeks turning my concrete rubbish tip of a yard into a concrete garden, I've got a fair few plants and baskets out there now, table and chairs, simple pleasures. Me and a couple of the bastards and broken things I know christened it with a BBQ and a moderate piss up, twas good

Skyrim could do with one more patch from what I've heard, Bethesda broke a few things with the DLC patches
-
Bah, I missed the DLCs at 50%...hopefully they will be back.
-
I'm looking forward to the sale, got my eye on that Skyrim DLC

I imagine there's plenty of American couples who are scared of their own shadows too...but yeah this is a bit pathetic.

I'd buy an Avellone bobblehead

I've resumed tweaking Morrowind's meshes and textures for my own amusement. Ald'Ruhn got it's wall rebuilt. Stars over Pelagiad. Found a nice metal texture for the Velothi domes.

I picked up the game of Morrowind I started a year ago, spent the last hour searching for the Cavern of The Incarnate and gave up...of course I'm loving it

Finished the first book in the Prince of Nothing series and I'm starting to see why people like it, the background lore is pretty damn deep, I get big Dune vibes from the style and sweep of it. Seedy undertones and sexual perversions are prominent and I like how magic is a profane and mistrusted thing in this world, it's nothing ground breaking but the idea that it's a genuine desecration appeals to me. The characters are memorable though some might find them a bit one note, I suspect this is to display the vastly differing philosophies and themes that play a big part in the story, it's never boring though. I started reading The Road, I'm really surprised that it's not gripping me what with all the acclaim it's gotten but I'm only 1/4 of the way in, I've not totally adjusted to the extremely blunt style of writing but at least it's a short book, hopefully by the end I'll be eating my words.

I was fine with all the porn till my mum started watching it

Beyond a certain point I wonder why they don't just use actors...amusing though.

Chinese dissident talks about Prism.

I always mistrusted Obama, he appeared out of nowhere with his Change! slogan, much like the grinning demon we elected in the UK ten years earlier...jaded I am. Mike Gravel seems to have had Obama pegged but I can't help feeling like Malcador
-
Apparently whistle blowers are getting a particularly hard time under the Obama administration, and this is compared to the paranoia of the Bush years so I don't blame the guy for being cautious.

So it's looking like Sony are going to make an arseload of cash by saying the all right things, like no 24hr security checks, no region locking and no blocking of used games...I'll end up getting one but who else wonders if they'll start screwing us over through firmware updates once they've established a user base?

I'm halfway through Episode 3 of The Walking Dead, so far I've seen quite a few illogical situations and heard some badly delivered lines but somehow they aren't massively detracting from the experience, I'm genuinely interested in seeing what happens to the characters...also Kenny is a prick. In fact they're all pricks, I'm pretty much doing what I'd really do in that situation, trying to keep the peace amongst a bunch of morons while secretly waiting for a good chance to ditch the lot of them
