TBH I'd love a RPG that has the Empire of the Rising Sun units as playable classes. Rocket Angels and the bow-wielding ladies, etc. -

Hmm, I like the Baron, but Atomic... dunno. Baron Mayhem? Baron Bomber? Nucles Maximus? You know, if I could make a DN game, it'd be about Duke losing all his image and being slowly replaced wby a Justin Bieber-esque guy called Dave Napalm, and he'd ...Duke it out with him. And multiplayer would be about the two DN fanboys clashing in approriate cosplays. From the true-to-life stuff to paperbag-with-crayon-portrait clothes.

Hear hear. Bethesda seems to have a lot of "negativity shielding" for some reason. Complain about bugs? Sure... but nothing is then said about the many in ANY of their titles. F:NV buggy? No one mentions they're the same bugs from Fallout 3, which never got the complaint. Oh they did mention FNV sharing F3's bugs. And complained why they haven't been fixed yet. I like how people give free passes over several Beth games downright refusing to start up after expansion and patches are released.

One of my friends could use it for her b-day if you don't need it. ^_^

Blasphemies/ranting: -DA:O was horrible. Enemies had minmal skill variety, no body blocking/positioning, cutscene positioning, story, party of the setting. Companion: Jokes=/=personality -ME2 was awesome, despite it's flaws. And people's fixation on the daddy issues is just silly. -Septerra Core is awesome -There should be more psykers. -There should be less mages. And "Mages are SUPPOSED TO BE overpowered and almost-solo the game" people should be set on fire. I can easily imagine a rule system where mages are there for utilty purposes, not as artillery, or to upstage whole classes with one spell *cough* Invisibility *cough*. Set one guy on fire. He's burning, screaming and running around. Perfectly valuable thing to do. Why does it have to be AoE and do 10d10 damage as well? And castable 4 more times? -Hubs. I hate how RPG stories devolved into static Hub based plot progression. Prologue/setup->Go to 3-4 places->Endgame. That's not a plot dammit! You get introduced to a situation and they give you some stuff to take care of. Then boom boos fight and game over. Look at Alpha Protocol for example. You are told to investigate an assassination attempt, gun running and something in Rome. You go to Taipei, get info and friends, and save Whozzit or stop the riots. The plot isn't going forward. You are playing catch up to things that either already happened (KotOR), will happen regardless (AP), is just busywork (NwN WoP hunting) and/or don't have ingame significance. There just no story. Look at friggin' Septerra Core. The game is full with the good and bad guys reacting to each other, coming up with b-c-d plans, other parties chiming in when they see an opportunity, subplots affecting each other, etc. For a genre known for stories, there has been an amazing lack of stories recently, with respect to the exceptions. -Okay, so jokes. Jokes are filling. They're not content. If you want to sell a setting/atmosphere, then make the jokes part of the world. Not meta humor, not shout outs, not refences, not joke jokes. Wit. Something a character would say. (Which is incidentally, one of the reasons I think DMC 3-4 was excellently written. They had genuine wit.) -Related to the above and again, jokes=/=personality. I remember playing DAO and every time the companions talked to each other they were all "Luk at meee, I'm a doofus. Laff wid meeez.". Humor makes a character entertaining, yes. But not interesting, not engaging and certainly not well developed. On a related note, this I think an interesting difference between Bioware and Obsidian. Bioware makes character concepts whereas Obsidian makes thematic concepts (Cowboy cop Garrus vs Psychopoet HK47, or hell just compare the two versions of HK47), and while Obs characters are more interesting, Bio characters are more entertaining, and maybe a little more life-like. But maybe that's just me. -I'd love to see RPG companion characters having opinions and relationships, "meaningful" discussions and well, more personality. I mean, really. KotOR2. The slightest hint of friendship (which granted, wasn't the point of the story, but why wasn't it? People like each other. Kinda happens.) was like, one line between Atton and Bao-Dur. Fallout 2 was a bit simple in that regard, but the companions commented on places or other companions, which was nice, gave them a bit more weight as people. Would be nice to see more of that. Oh and looting Swords of +1-+2-+3 sucks. Give us normal magical weapons, like a Hammer of Freezing or a Bow of Target Painting or something. -
I just wish he didn't complain that it's *gasp* No combat survival builder! That's how the game works, that's how it sets itself apart from other such games. Deal with it.

I never played as PSI so I have no idea how many other skills you can take, but hacking is very useful and should be kept as high as you can if possible. Modifying is not that important, especially for PSI as I don't think they use weapons much or at all? Probably best to just use those items that let you modify weapons without the skill. Repair is completely useless, just keep eye on the condition of your weapons and swich them for better ones when found. There are also items you can use to repair. I actually always set the weapon degradation much slower or disable it completely, it's a bit silly mechanic as it is. Can't really give any more advice for PSI, I always go navy. Thanks, that was what I wanted to know.

Dead State and System Shock 2, among other things. Any tips for SS2 regarding skill progression? I went PSI, but not sure if I should add some hacking/modifying/repair skills.

How are you supposed to leave the school? The blueish tiles on the left? Don't do anything for me.

I had an interesting terror mission yesterday. After spotting the first Chrysalid, every enemy on the map started beelining towards my squad. Thankfully they were stupid and went back and forth on the edge of the fog of war, so I could whittle them down.

Maaaaybe. Though we're still missing people. -
I'm amazed to hear that they do. https://www.google.com/search?q=skyrim+best+writing+award&oq=skyrim+best+writing+award&aqs=chrome..69i57.4325j0j8&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8 Google's not coming up with anything of the sort for Skyrim. http://www.gamechoiceawards.com/archive/writing.html Fallout 3. I did think it was more than one of their games. *shrug* Though it was funny seeing people praise the Skyrim Thieves Guild questline here and there after I read Shamus Young's breakdown of how stupid the questline is. http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=14422

The pro-Michael Bay argument, in a nutshell. I'd be fine with it if Elder Scroll games wouldn't win Best Writing awards.
