  1. yeah most years im a bit desperate for my 8-10, i usually end up putting games that were just "ok", years with 10 great games are rare
  2. that screen reminds me of STALKER for some reason (in a good way)
  3. still playing borderlands 2 with Mrs. entrerix also replaying dark souls just finished spec ops the line: its not a very good "game", but its worth playing for the narrative (its only about 7 hours to finish the game so i think its worth doing). i found myself wishing i had more freedom in it, but since the game is a bit of a statement regarding the CoD type games, it makes sense why its so linear.

BONUS LIST!!!!11! (for fun, here is last years list:) Top Games of 2011 (made at end of 2011) 1. Skyrim (pc - preordered) 2. Portal 2 (pc - preordered) 3. BONUS LIST!!!!! MY TOP TEN OF 2009 Dragon Age Street Fighter 4 Batman: Arkham Asylum Assassins Creed 2 Borderlands Empire: Total War Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Resident Evil 5 Plants v Zombies Trine 2012 notes: i didnt keep records as well back in 09...
  5. will weapons like short spears/javelines have an option to be both thrown and useable as a melee weapon? would it be a toggle on the item or do you envision them as two seperate equippable weapons (ie, short spears are melee only, and javelines are ranged only)?
  6. that THQ bundle is absolutely outrageously inexpensive
  7. i think its wildly inappropriate to use the name black isle without the people who WERE black isle
  8. reading this update reminds me why I have felt confident about this project knowing that Mr. Sawyer is one of the chief designers. the amount of thought that goes into the rpg mechanics/systems is staggering. it really showed in new vegas, and i'm sure it will show again in PE
  9. pretty sure a horse would be a lot scarier to fight than a dog. getting kicked by a horse would kill, maim, or cripple most people. a dog biting a person wearing chain mail would probably cause less damage in most cases
  10. no level cap, make 95% of the xp come from completing tasks, so it would take ridiculous amounts of time to "grind" a new level. that way if someone REALLY wanted to grind levels by killing respawning monsters, they could do it, but it would be very time consuming and far from required
  11. i actually like that little brat as darth vader darth vader was a bully. in the original star wars he is more or less a schoolyard bully shoving people around and being a jerk. (oh you think my religion is funny? well how funny is it when i use it to choke you? not laughing now are you!) that little brat kid from phantom menace looked like the kind of kid who would grow up to be a bully (ie very self centered and ****y) edit: can't say cochy (replace h with a k)? why censor why??
  12. jade empire was pretty bad but if you are really bored and craving a game like kotor but 30% worse in every way then you could spend your money on worse games
  13. I have it. Got really bored with it. I blame the narrative. this for me too, i was REALLY excited for the game, but frankly, its boring. I'm about 75% through it but i don't feel the urge to finish it.
  14. i remember zone of the enders, that game was ok, certainly not good enough to warrant a fancy re-release though. why no fancy re-release for The Bouncer?
  15. InFamous was basically a spider man game. the powers were a bit different, and the characters, but overall it was pretty similar imo
  16. i have a deep longing for a Total War: Warhammer
  17. "The first step in designing a new Torment story is to ask the primary question. I'm older than I was when I worked on Torment, and my questions now are different than they were. I have children now, and I look at the world through their eyes and through mine, and that's changed me - in fact, the intervening years have changed me so much that I have new answers for the central story in the original Torment. So now that I know what can change the nature of a man, I ask: What does one life matter? … and does it matter at all?" he scribbled "Then I'd re-examine the fundamentals of the setting. I'd put it some place other than Planescape. I'd use a system other than D&D, because I'd want to align the player's story axes along different lines than Good/Evil or Law/Chaos to something more subjective. The core of Torment is, after all, a personal story, and while we can be judged by others on the basis of our actions, arbitrarily aligning those actions on an external and eternally fixed line removes some of the agency from the player's game. "I have a lot of ideas about what to put into a new Torment game," he closed, "but my primary goal would be to help the player tell a story that was evocative of the original Torment without aping it. To be faithful to the odyssey of the Nameless One, and to recognise that it has ended, and that stories of Torment are ongoing." ok i like the sound of this, but still, i think it makes 100% more sense to wait until MCA is available to be involved in the project,
  18. There are. I tried it out once and gave up at a place that had enemies respawning behind, before and above you. In a back alley. its possible there is an area with infinite respawns, but 99% of the areas in MW2 do not have infinitely respawning enemies. you CAN kill them all, even if some spawn behind you (this happens a lot in the dirty hovel town area) you can kill them and eventually they will stop spawning.
  19. spiritual successor eh? not set in Sigil? leaves me wondering which elements they would focus on re-creating
  20. well, if we are talking about 3d platformers, then zelda isnt really on the table, thats more of an action adventure game. Mario 64 - this is the 3d platformer you all are looking for
  21. i actually prefer modern warfare 2 to modern warfare 1, i think its because in MW2 there is no infinite enemy spawns...
  22. finished dishonored, a very solid game, not perfect by any means, but well worth playing, it will be in my top ten of the year for sure
  23. i like this post, its one of the things that is completely terrible about most modern jrpgs too. FF7 you are fighting enemies within a minute of starting the game, learning quickly as you go, and the tutorial area that opens up after the first couple hours is completely optional. FF13... wow, no.
