  1. Hello. My real name is Kurt. I am a mercenary, wine-connoisseur, lover, poet, explorer and occasional stunt-man for erotic cinema industry. When not wrestling bears, acting as point-man for CIA drone strikes or para-skiing off of glaciers, I am posting here under my pseudonym of Monte Carlo. It's great to be here amongst lots of normal people.
  2. Piccolo needs to go and march around his little gaming POW camp barking orders at the rest of us. Dude prove how hardcore you are and don't use the exits. We will all swoon. In other news, in old-skool dungeons it was a given that parties would rest and re-equip at certain points. Exits, teleporters, secret ways out and all that other stuff were all a standard part of the deal. Plus as a dungeon fan I want this to be as accessible as possible to dungeon sceptics and see if we can win over a few converts.
  3. Anyhow, I've been with my wife since 1994 what would I know about romance?
  4. ^ Dude I'm a hater. I hated all of it. Not you, you strike me as a very nice guy, but jesus I hate CRPG romances.
  5. Spend a hell of a lot less time on the bloody internet.
  6. Yeah, what's love, what's love got to do with it? what's love, but a second-hand emotion? *sniff*
  7. I'm giving them a break on new SGs. After all they've got about thirteen large dungeon levels to design.
  8. No. There are many RPGs that doesn't use stats at all. It's called Free-form. And they are basically a form of story-telling. Like FUDGE.
  9. I'm thinking Apocalypto. On this freaky, blighted island of Much Grimdarkness, the natives sacrifice souls to their rapacious native god(s). The avatars of which manifest in undead beast form and haunt the woods. They use a strange, almost alien artefact to separate man from soul, fuelled by the energy of fell ceremonies. Our intrepid explorers are a survey party for a consortium of merchant privateers, intent on pillaging the freaky blighted island of Much Grimdarkness (fbioMD) when they discover that the device has failed. Without the ability to separate man from soul, the beast / avatars are now doing it themselves. Does the party steal the device? Do they parley with the avatar / beasts? So they ally with a faction that wants to move away from Soul-Sucking EVAL and instead trade peacefully with the outsiders? Does the group simply use the chaos to steal as much-bloody-gold as possible and hot-foot it out of there? I'm seeing ziggurats, blood sacrifice, frenzied spear charges against muskets, piles of gold, soul-hungry cadaverous reptile-men, a strange device in the bowels of a forbidden temple that *might* just be from another world, evil, demented priests indulging in brutal politiking and murder and of course slave girls in small chamois bikinis. Stretch Goal at 3.6 million, please.
  10. All bitching aside, making history with the Kickstarter is tremendous news, kudos to Obsidian.
  11. As the end draws near the forum has reached new heights of classiness.
  12. I would imagine that it would be highly improbable to do the whole thing at once, traditionally the large dungeon was an endeavour taken in chunks. Having said that, I imagine that hard core Endless Path runs with custom parties, where you try to do the whole thing in one trip, might become popular.
  13. Excellent. A solid, palpable 'C', verging on C+ if you hadn't used such an obvious forum name. Keep at it, young padowan,
  14. My problem is I suspect this game might end up taking itself a bit *too* seriously. It's high-fantasy. Which needs to be, just now and ten, light and shade. Which is where we probably have irreconcilable POVs on what constitutes fun. The whole point of a CRPG is to be fun by simulating a distinct unreality. Sorry to be harsh, but there has been an influx of shrill Codex-inspired hipsters and story-tyme obsessed-LARPers over the past few days.
  15. We have a huge dungeon and two cities. Now we need a wilderness area / an island type adventure. This would fit a colonial vibe I quite fancy playing Conquistador over human-sacrificing savages.
  16. * sigh * More "this is breaking my immersion" guff. And the dragons, spells and undead don't? It should simply be a party creation tool. Period. Not all of us want to drag NPCs around all of the time. Also there are comparatively few of them. What if the cleric drives me nuts? And I want a new one? How is that breaking your immersion? The clamour for some sort of uniform experience across all players and the intolerance of varying play-styles is getting tired.
