  1. Whenever something like this happens I always see news spots about gun control, the parent are to blame, the kid was ****ed, etc etc.. Never "does our culture somehow breed this behaviour?" "Why do we have so many shootings, could we as a society be doing something wrong".. It's, from my point of view, always focused on the regional or laws. Maybe it's just easier to dismiss when it's such a huge country, but I would never blame gun control or lack thereof, if people started going crazy here - I would naturally assume that something in our culture was leading instable kids to the conclusion that murder was the only way out. Espeically if was this frequent. As for better sources on school shootings.. To be fair we would need to compare all kinds of violence in schools, from knife attacks and shootings to regular beatings - and then see if America has a higher frequency. I'll have better time wednesday, so I'll try to see if I can find some articles about it. I've seen reports asking what you said - although that just leads to more magic bullet type solutions such as games, violent movies, lack of family values or what have you. Focusing on the regional law makes sense for the US, as things vary so much from state to state or so I think. Hard to know what Americans are doing as whole, heh, but I doubt they're thinking but ignoring some problem with their "system" or way of life or whatever. They have others lined up to tell them, anyway
  2. What's giving you that sense ? If it's online commentary, plenty seem to admit something's wrong (although that lot tends to cry down their state all the time anyway). Probably a case of not really knowing what a proper solution is. They can count on Canadians smugly telling them what the problem is - media article today described the Bushmaster as an ultra-destructive weapon of war.
  3. Doesn't seem like much of a starting point. Trying to talk down Hamas from that will involve what degree of capitulation from Israel ? I guess they could threaten brutal reprisal if Hamas reneges on a deal they win from that, but still can't see that as politically possible.
  4. What happened to that guy who said he wanted to be able to MC people into loving him and all that other deviant stuff ? He was good for killing these off.
  5. Not all of it, TA and SupCom (FA) were pretty epic and grand sounding.
  6. http://gamasutra.com/view/feature/183525/the_burning_of_star_wars_the_old_.php Bit ranty at times. Wonder how his idea to make people pay for the storyline would have turned out.
  7. Speeding along in WoW, levelling seems quicker than I recall it being. Good to see them use more phasing too, makes the story progression in a zone bit more believable than before. The breadcrumb quests are bit wonky, or I did them wrong as I did the quests at each hub the original quest sent me to, but eventually ended up having to go back to the same place three times as the different chains resolved.
  8. I'd enjoy any problem from a CS course textbook.
  9. Not sure how accurate but the list of states doing that on Wikipedia's larger than I thought it would have been. Interesting.
  10. Always amazed at the weirdos on the internet.
  11. Well, a hamstrung experience is that regardless of how much you pay for it. But, it's good enough for a demo run, I suppose.
  12. Sounds like what my old manager at my current workplace had, had to quit due to stress. Hope the days off help, work's not worth your health.
  13. TOR's F2P seems like something you have to suffer through, wonder why anyone would bother with that.
  14. Nice and feasible solution from that thought as well too.
  15. smudboy on Youtube does a decent, if at sometimes nitpicky, critique.
  16. Well, I imagine a certain level of callousness is needed to be involved in the leadership of a powerful nation. And meh, it's jubilation at the death of a foe that you see as one who has killed civilians. Wouldn't say it's convenient, is probably accurate that people outcast or troubled tend to do these things - granted in this case not sure if mental healthcare was offered and the nutter refused it.
  17. Not much horrible about that, they offed someone that was or was seen to be a national security threat. Plays well in domestic politics, and it's just the death of one man in any case.
  18. Kind of past the point of 'peaceful' means with Hamas, no ?
  19. Hey. gotta get eyewitness accounts to fill the air time.
  20. Well, crap hit the fan today at work, issue i was working on got the notice of the company's COO so that was a rush today. Wonderful highlight of problems with support when the devs don't document much in the way of how something works, no one knows who would know something and the devs are pretty much dismissive of support inquiries.
  21. Well, if .223 rifles are legal, don't see why that one wouldn't be. I guess the magazine might make it overkill.
  22. Well, a semi-auto rifle is probably just as deadly as one on full, just requires more trigger presses, and is a bit more controllable too I'd imagine. Guess you could outlaw everything except bolt-action rifles, though. Still, an outright ban would fail in the US like drugs, I feel.
  23. Well, overall considering what's going on there, not really that outrageous but still.Guess it's that stereotype of soldiers hating the press at work.
  24. The female lawyer joke was that offensive ? Right. Also, you're trying too hard.
  25. Outrageous.
