I do like some of the new characters, Hammerlock does have a few good lines especially with the mutant varkids. That quest is a pain though, what with Mordecai helpfully killing stuff you need to stay alive for a bit.

Sweet, we can throw our guns at the xenos ?

Finishing Moves
Malcador replied to Boretti's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But after that, there'd be not much to it, I'd imagine. Would be nice to see death animations based on the context of the attack though - so turn to ash, freeze and shatter, gibbed, etc. -

Story of Borderlands, Marcus and the machines do really have 'meh' gear though, I agree. I wish my Sabre turret could aim, but it is nice to see it pump 22 rockets into a midget.

Romances, yay or nay?
Malcador replied to Gorth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Hardly snide, unless you've got monomolecular thick skin. It's kind of amusing you'd take that stance, given your assumption about the 'anti-romance' people and RPGCodex. You're right though about it not invalidating points, but comments are generally at the BSN not really accusing people from BSN, like yourself, of anything. As you being a victim, come on, if Obsidian is going to put romances in or not, you think this forum has much bearing on that (well or much else, to be honest) ? And ignore features are for the weak- 231 replies

Romances, yay or nay?
Malcador replied to Gorth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Just read the thread in C&C, I think there's enough on that. I guess there was the series boiling down to three options, things didn't seem to matter much re: the ending, space magic and the bizarreness with the Normandy crashing. I tell you, just make romance a stretch goal. Might as well extort the people :D- 231 replies

Using Looted Clothes and Armor
Malcador replied to Amentep's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I suppose you could just have classes, so that giant ogre type fellow's jerkin wouldn't fit your human PC (just an example), but seems like this is going too far towards a simulation than needed. -

In-Game Tutorial
Malcador replied to molarBear's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I should have become a game developer, I could put a clippy helper in, with a shrill voice saying "PRESS E TO..." They should just have the manual, not a problem if it's digital either - if you need to check it that much, maybe take notes or print out the relevant sheets. -
Romances, yay or nay?
Malcador replied to Gorth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
How is that a failed example, heh. And you'd be a poor bodyguard, have to be detached and all. It's not outlandish to find it creepy that someone that "watched" you while you're sleeping and have no clue what they're doing. Although I suppose this depends on if they've broached it with you.- 231 replies

Well, try doing that in the real world and see how well that works out for you.- 231 replies

Yep, friend used the fast travel point to get some ammo and found out it's exit only. I was hurting for ammo by the time I found the Warden - that fight is painful to do solo, pretty painful in 4 person group. Mind you we didn't have corrosive, just a couple with shocking so probably would have been easier. Also, Threshers suck. But it is cool to phaselock a tadpole in midair

Well that's every game for me.

Must have been some demo to be the best game ever at this point, heh. I did watch the Gamespot stream, and it looked pretty similar to the feel of the last game (and the Firaxis guy isn't talking about another game when talking about his, Shafer). Also you people need to get a better computer chair and monitor positioning

The name of the country is LIBYA. Geez. Also why does anyone listen to that former crackhead anyway ?

Romances, yay or nay?

Hyperbole, but generally that's what you'd get out of the "romance", some NPC stroking your ego as a player.- 231 replies

Hmm...2/10 I'd say. If you're serious, then you're an idiot. -
Romances, yay or nay?
Malcador replied to Gorth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well people that actively want it being the majority of fans of this project is just sad and weird to me. I suspect most don't care either way if you can get some NPC to shower your avatar with love or whatever.- 231 replies

The idea of that is depressing. I'd hoped the apathetic would be in the majority, by far.- 231 replies

I do regret not pitching in for Planetary Annihilation, but eh this way I can still remain cautiously pessimistic about it.

Romances, yay or nay?
Malcador replied to Gorth's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Come now thats a bit dramatic and exaggerated? BSN also has thousands of people who don't talk about Romance\Sex and contribute constructively towards threads Yeah, but those threads tend to be pretty sad some of the time at least. The cringe-inducting Indoctrination idea was pretty amusing though, so some good comes from it I suppose.- 231 replies

Ah ok, he was pretty easy at lvl 17 for us. Course we were 3 sirens and a zero, I guess all that CC made things easier but I don't remember much of the fight - too much stuff going on. Humour in the game hasn't changed, the PA telling robots to suicide if they become self aware got a chuckle out of me.

Well, won't spoil much but the IA story does have some nice twists to it, Chapter 1's is probably the best - the boss fight was fairly buggy for me, had to kill him three times. Jjust a hint : take him off the stairs, somehow. It does get a bit better, the antagonists of the ending are cliche as hell but it's satisfying.
