  1. Toca Boca. What? Best way to bond with family tree's younglings! Jeez Louise, I knew "free" mobile games are predatory, but didn't expect them to nickel and dime that bad. Also how comes EA isn't trying to worm its way into that market? The game itself is not much of a game and got me thinking if I should introduce them to Fallout Shelter as a gateway drug.
  2. Бабы нарожают. Translates roughly, like, "Broads gonna spawn" and whoever is using this now should take a good look at russia's birth & death statistics.
  3. I dunno, I kinda prefer necro threads to creating new and short-lived microthreads. It shows that the necromancer bothered to read quite a bit instead of just plopping a lazy question, and reading is good.
  4. From my experience this is caused by a NPC touching your AoE. Just had the same thing with Cotta fight, when some dunce blithely traipsed right into soft winds of death. So to be on the safe side it's better to turn AoEs off for the fight duration. Also let those idiots pass by when it's your turn and you see them coming by. Oh, and another very important thing: if you reload from a quicksave, guards auto-aggro regardless. Gotta go back all the way to the start screen. Shipwright doesn't offer you discount if you don't off Cotta though, and if there's a shop where a discount, heh, counts, it's the one that sells ships.
  5. Oh they absolutely would. And then get all butthurt if Ukrainians for some mysterious reason would not reciprocate their love and friendship and blame it on Ukrainians being petty and unreasonable. Prigozhin, by the way, is very candid about russia's goals, none of that denazify crap for gullible idiots. Like, quoting, "We minced the huge amount of Ukrainian armed forces and can tell ourselves the goal of special operation was achieved. Theoretically, russia got its fat loot by obliterating a large part of active Ukrainian males and terrorizing another large part of population into fleeing from Ukraine. russia cut for itself Azov sea and large chunk of Black sea and created a land corridor to Crimea. Now there is only one thing to do: to take root, claw in those territories we already have." So yeah nah, I'm not wringing my hands about how those greedy 'murican corporations get even fatter on weapon supplies as long as these people are at the very least pushed back into their borders.
  6. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65271302 The leaker was arrested, he's an unbelievable moron and this whole incident one day will provide comic relief for far future TV series about this war. In present time it's a bit less funny; here's hoping people leaking russia's secrets won't get exposed.
  7. Love, Death & Robots, a series of science fiction animated shorts. Some good ones that lingers in the head, some others that are pretty but kinda "Huh? What was that about?" Made me think of things like how much I miss reading science fiction short story anthologies and how sanitized and sexless mainstream TV normally is nowadays.
  8. Yep, that dude. About fighting in MEs - I really liked it in ME1. Adept was super fun, tech stuff not so much, but had its uses, guns were kinda samey but did what I wanted them to do, i.e. I pointed them at dudes and they eventually died. I didn't have to sit crouched behind a chest-high wall all the time, running and gunning was very much doable, and inventory has nothing on the mess of, say, Pathfinder games. ME2 turned biotic and tech powers non-viable, like, you can't kill anything but husks with them, and overturned ME's fantastic idea of not having to bother with goddamn ammo. Scrounging for those motherloving clips is the worst and most boring part of already boring pew-pew fest, also if you are playing a sniper you run out real fast and then sit behind the stupid wall pew-pewing outta reliable but boring SMG. Vanguard was fun though. ME3 did away with chores of running around for ammo by having it scattered everywhere and brought back tech/biotic powers with extra oomph in the form of fun combos. I loved that. As for the story, it seems to me that ME was written by someone who loved science fiction and read books; ME2's writer was into neither, but obviously liked pulpy cop and crime shows, and ME3's team wanted a JRPG - like, your character has no agency anymore and is on rails so tight you're told not just what to do but how to feel, everyone is overly dramatic, NPCs make you look stupid in conversations and cutscenes, also get to win in cutscenes after you beat them in game, the last boss rambles forever at you while you can't skip or fast forward and the game pushes Liara as your designated girlfriend real hard. It even explains Kai Leng!
  9. For me it's worldbuilding and story for ME (even if I prefer its combat over ME2's, worldbuilding is more of a key thing), NPCs for ME2 and combat for ME3. Mordin is one of my top favorite characters in all videogames but he isn't enough to compensate for the rest of ME2; faux one in ME3 was quite noticeably worse, but it was okay since I didn't mind that pretender dying. I played the original trilogy, with Miranda's behind as separate character and all...speaking of which, I reached the conclusion that aforesaid behind isn't there for fanservice only -- it is also a reminder that this woman talks out of her arse and is full of sh†t. I didn't mind Weeb McDweeb that much this time since I was able to eventually just swat him away like annoying blowfly that he was, and split my hatred between some kid who died and TIM the wąnker who seriously overstayed his welcome somewhere, I dunno, around 5 seconds in his ME2's intro. I plan to do a Fail Shepard run where everything goes wrong and then I'll just change class on character import for more ME3 as I can play ME pretty much endlessly but wouldn't want to go through ME2 again.
  10. Played all 3 Mass Effects in a row and here's what I think. (Though truth be told, I'd swap middle and last parts. ME3 story might run on pure nonsensoleum, but ME2's is pretty rubbish too and gameplay-wise ME3 >>>> ME2. Poor ME2 is such a boring, claustrophobic corridor shooter tucked between the other two)
  11. Is Amon Amarth cheesy? Are their covers? Ehhh, whatever, I just love growly ladies.
  12. Vysotsky was what old people listened to, and I never understood hype around Kino, Nautilus Pompilius from that scene was so much better IMO. Aaaaanyway, here is my favorite Russian-singing male, who is actually Ukrainian with Roma roots.
  13. Hmmm. I like my Russian-born singers less, well, squeaky and moar broody.
  14. Poland does not need to "stake" anything, its security is dependent on Ukraine's survival, because Poland knows way too well what sort of neighbour russia is.
  15. Here's the "manifesto" of the leakers. Cross entitled gamer twąt with ~*regular russian people totally do not condone the war, like at all, you guys, it's just government that's bad, totally*~ fable and you get something noxious to rival fallout in the Zone.
  16. Jesus. Need to rinse my receptors with some classic.
  17. You all know nothing, guys. russia already defeated Ukraine, now its fighting dastardly NATO and other evil West. And it will win, of course.
  18. New profile picture when, Keyrock? You've been on this current Rubberface dude, like, forever!
  19. Watched Branagh's "Death on the Nile". Wish he'd leave Poirot alone already. Also, it's amazing how Gal Gadot can't act for sh†t. I mean, she stood out in the cast where everyone were hamming it up like middle-school's drama club.
  20. Maybe to prepare kids in controlled environment with suckitude of life? Like, if you bawl your eyes out when Atreyu's horse drowns then it'll be a bit less horrible when your own dog dies or something, which shouldn't work if a kid is smart enough to tell fiction from life. And it only can be applied to kids with normal family/environment situation anyway, kids with sh†tty family and bad places learn that life is not all sunshine and roses not from fiction. Aaaaanyway. I'm happy about derail, never liked Peter Pan anyway. I found the character himself kinda creepy, and the concept silly because who'd want to stay a kid forever when adults get to so much more fun?
  21. I was in a mood for some Mass Effect yesterday and that led me to discovering several interesting things. Firstly is that EA's Origin is dead, long live EA app. Don't see what's the point other than uninstalling the corpse and installing new guy, because function still the same? Though wait no, because new app told me I didn't have DA:I and Andromeda uninstalled which I promptly rectified to great relief of my HD. Secondly, it appears that ME2 and 3's DLCs are now free. Great, Imma finally find out what that Citadel DLC is all about! ...hmmmmm, but to get to it I'll have to play some ME3, no way around it. Oh well. Maybe. One day. Totally.
  22. I finished Legend, Lich, Trickster and Demon and realized just now that I can't remember nary a thing of endings. I recall Arue overtaking the arena, expanding the business and being happy running it, it was kind of awwwww and probably from Demon ending, Regill wrote a book and Lich was a special consultant, and that's about it. My guess is that my brain partially shut down for that dreadfully dull last part of the game and was a bit late in waking up to read ending slides. Same as in KM I ain't be jumping through bullsh†t loops for ~special~ ending, but I plan to finish with Aeon, because that's the one and only ending Areelu deserves and therefore is true one.
  23. Nah, it's not ugly because it's 2D, plenty of fugly 3D games like e.g. Morrowind, this one is ugly because it's just really really ugly. Not as ugly as Undertale, but certainly close. I really liked Forgotten City for the most part, that sequence with combat was fun too, but I got one of endings which wasn't the "true" one and then suddenly lost all interest so I still don't know what's its deal. Guess the ending I got was satisfying enough.
  24. They also remind me of classic BSOD, but I think their job is to draw attention away from how ostentatiously ugly the rest of the game is, and they do this job quite well. Hoo boy is this game ugly.
  25. I think Gorth is building a home for a Lich. And it's well ackshually a ziqqurat, but eh, pyramid-adjacent enough. Good for you, Gorth. Liches is love. Oh, and don't forget to visit that blighted undead druid on the hill on the Wintersun map with your Lich.
