T1 has chill fog and Slicken. T2 is bleh and I barely use it. T3 has Fireball for easy AoE comp which is the most effective one atm. Later, use it for Del Alacrity because the +5 dex speed still speed up how fast you cast/recover and it doesn't take long. ==== T4 has frozen fireball from a certain grimoire you can acquire really early. Sure the cast time is long but you can retarget and it has almost twice the range of normal fireball. Paralysis on hit. The moment I got this, the game lost all possible mid-game challenge even if you are undergear. T5 is mediocre. Only really use it for Blast of Frost for quick AoE finisher if they somehow survive the fireball. T6 has Gaze and Deathring. Death ring is insane in this one because it's a giant Foe AoE that can also finish off high DR but low health target with no effort. T7 has Tayn Chaotic orb and with enemies using Unbending, Wall of Draining T8 has Wilting Wind. It's a raw damage version of hailstorm which is also busted. T9 has Missile Salvo and Meteor. I don't see how they are weak. Only T2 is really bad but you get through that really fast since the game quickly boost you to like level 7 in only a few hour. Salvo has the highest DPS potential in the game that it took 70% of the tankiest boss fight health in one spell on Aloth who has pisspoor might. And if you don't have enough cast, then empower yourself for +1 to all tier casting resource. Nothing should survive you throwing 1 or 2 fireball in the early game so wizard early is nowhere near that bad. Edit: Also, if you really want to break the game, just give the Wizard some kind of legendary gear early (you cna easily grab a legendary weapon from Crookspur stealing). This gives them a major accuracy boost to their spells. You can be throwing empowered crit fireball 2-3 hours into the game. Might want to read my first post in this thread... Which is why I brought up other useful spells beside Chill fog and bolded that just for you and the rest for other who think wizards are still weak. Slicken is so busted because it knocks people prone for a few seconds and also reproc every few seconds. It's a -10- seconds prone if you have enough accuracy and the enemy don't have tons of fortitude so they flop the moment they get up. The only thing you're really correct about is that T2 is rather trash. So when you consider the amount of utility they already have from level 1, they aren't weak. And you can't really just call "Resting after a fight" cheesing. It's part of the game and you are expected to go into a fight fully buffed. If making sure you are in the best condition is cheesing then is eating 5 different foods before a boss fight in PoE1 cheesing? Real cheese would involve exploits like luring enemies out of the fight so you can fight a large group 1 by 1. It's even more cheesy to agree to a truce to a fight and start precasting spells right away to give you a massive advantage.

The point of extra empower is so that you don't have to rest to recover em. This helps when you're using bed bonus (Wild mare) for +1 to all skill, sleep with the old hag in the pirate land for another +1 to all skill and eat Glittering Adra potion for +2 skills. You can have +4 to all skills, +6 or +7 if you include party assist and do nearly all dialogue in the game until you rest which can be an issue if you want to abuse this as glittering adra potion has limited amount of resources.

Also we seems to forget that weapon got a major buff for classes like Wizard. Scepter has bouncing projectile and rod modal comes with blast if you need more AoE. Both of them deal good damage now and Wand is the only weak one. In the early game, Wizard can just blow Chillfog/slicken, quick deflection buff from T2 spells and just shoot scepter/wand and still keep up with at least 70% of the auto-dps compared to other classes.

Which race did you choose?

Was Wild Orlan on PoE 1. Hearth Orlan in this one cause he looks way cuter. -
Honestly, late-game, only use i found for Xoti was using that spell (forgot the name for it) that destroys all spirits and vessels that are lower level than you and deals massive raw damage to any that are higher or the same level Empower Maelstorm prevent any of my teammate from playing the game. I just pop 2 unbending on Eder and have him walk in the maelstorm to make fun of how broken "Heal 150% damage from every damage receive" is. AWW YISS, TORNADO AND THUNDER MASSAGEEEe.

Serafen is awesome, although not in min/max power but I really don't see why he's weak if you just go pure cipher with him. He has decent might and dex. The only flaw is his low per but that doesn't matter much because you can easily obtain high rank weapon in the early game to boost his accuracy. Also because Arquebus module is a +25 accuracy for minor extra shooting time if you need to land an crit. And guns don't have recovery time so you can shoot the Arquebus and use something like Amph wave right away with that early damage focus gain. If needed, self-empower for instant cipher resource generation. I just spam bouncing blade thing from T2 and later, the beam from T3 to Amph wave which is giant Foe AoE damage + prone as I level up. Throw in Pain block if needed on squishy mages or Body Attunement if the enemy is a high-DR type. His low stat doesn't hinder him in the late game because you will really only use Cipher for Amph wave or the T9 +8 Pen buff by then on the wizard or druid that can end the fight in 1 T9 spell cast. The one I'm disappointed in are Pallegina because you can commit suicide with immolation now and Xoti because her power drops so bad late game due to current terrible enemy scaling. I barely get CC'd and devotion isn't even necessary to land a crit consistently so Xoti is a waste of space if you don't get the +damage lantern. Also because Spell Resist lantern seems bugged and it can block your own buffs/heal.

It's not really kind of crappy. Wizard subclasses are garbage. Not sure what the devs were thinking there. A few levels is an understatement. They start becoming more than one of the least useful classes at level 7. The main issue is that the majority of the spell rank 1-2 spells are complete garbage. Even once you have access to the third tier, you still don't have enough casts to make any real difference unless you cheese your way through the game by using empower to return points and then rest after every fight... It takes a whole lot of levels before they have enough casts to do anything other than Chill Fog (which is actually ridiculously good, but at the same time not something that can be cast every fight). The slicken nerf hurt my soul. What nerf? Slicken is so OP is PoE2 because it reapply every few seconds instead of just happening once. I was keeping bosses permanently proned with slicken it was hilarious. They just need to buff weapon conjuration and offensive self-buff type. That one got gutted with huge cast time and mediocre damage that can't really abuse empower.

There's really no room for Durance in Deadfire. He has nothing to do with any of the factions and his story is completely based around Godhammer in Dyrwood. Same goes to a bunch of other char. The only two that has a chance is Kana because he's already there and Maneha. Pretty much the gods that are part of Galawain-Magran happy club are the "Kith should grow and become stronger on their own." club.
-
The area around magran teeth has a bunch of red flag pirate that doesn't seem to belong to any faction so they will attack you. If you're losing ship battles then your ship isn't really upgraded or you're rushing through the story causing you to lose the boarding fight from lack of gear and level. These battles are actually way easier that the early ships because some of them are steel knights and they can't even leap across, making it so that they are forced to go through the front line to do anything.

Does Eder have a...
Zeitzbach replied to Melusina's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I don't think he is. The wife has 2 kids. The 1st is a hollowborn we don't get to see. The next one is Bearn. Eder wasn't even around. -
Devotion isn't as mandatory as PoE 1 though thanks to empower and new resource system. Some weapon like Arquebus can also receive +25 acc modal which is HUGE for very little penalty (takes slightly longer to shoot). I removed Xoti from my team 60% into the game because her story was completely done with no room for new development and I got through it easy. If anything, the real reason priest was so darn useful in PoE1 was because of the anti-cc spells. Both side are just perma ccing each other for the win with dominate, stun and paralysis. In PoE2, this is heavily toned down and you can multi class anyone into a priest if you really need it. Once you pass a certain level and gear, your ACC is just way too high for the enemy defense to keep up. If anything, pure priest kinda suck. You need to spec them into multi to be useful because T7 T8 T9 spells are really meh. The PotD being undertuned is some they already admit though and that they will rebalance it in the future.

Special boats?
Zeitzbach replied to MaximilianXimenez's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Shame getting to master doesn't really matter until they expand more on Sea traveling in future DLC (if they do) We need Crew Creator. My SS Furfest needs to be all monster and orlan :V. -
What, even your race, class and NAME??? Remake your char into the same race, class and name then. What's stopping you? I rather not go back to perfect-replay PoE 1 again just to make a hearth orlan with greenish-blue hair just so I can look like one in PoE2 because they made Wild Orlan look super wonky with no customization.

You can turn the journal quest category to "By Location". And the answer for 1) is because you lost everything to Eothas when he absorbed your soul and majority of your power. You lose all your special bonus and buff because of that and it is later brought up when you have to beat the crap out of your old soul for the control of the body.
-
So all I need to do now is to go to the top right area? Well, the quest does need more hints... Eothas also mentions the name of the area and where he's heading. If you have been exploring the world, the location name mentioned will be very easy to see. It even has a very scary ominous appearance to tell you this area is special.

Best mage weapon is the quarter staff from Nemnok as it gives +1 (upgraded to +2) power level to ALL elemental spells. Anything but Minelotta missile will deal more damage and has more pen. Being legendary in quality, you also gets the huge acc boost to spells. And I like the armor from Bennett. It has -15% armor recovery properties reducing the recover to only 5% on that leather armor instead of 20%.
