The entire plot of Arrival is pretty stupid. It includes a "we want him alive" moment and locking him in a room where he access to killer robots. This isn't even locking MacGyver in a cupboard. This is locking MacGyver in the weapons locker.

You need to rescue a scientist who uncovered reaper tech that told her that Reapers would arrive in 2 days in a system with a mass relay that would allow them to go anywhere they want. After that, it turns out she's indoctrinated, but that she and her team had a plan to destroy that relay with a masssive meteor. They stopped because the energy released by the relay would destroy a batarian colony near it. So Shepard reactivates the facility, crashes the meteor into the relay, kills 300k batarians, delays Reaper attacks for at least a few months. I think you misunderstood something. Or the way you typed it reads funny to me. They did not stop because of the Batarian deaths. They stopped because of the indoctrination. The deaths of the Batarians is practically an incidental matter. And a plot hook for ME3.

You consider direct-to-dvd cash-ins to be modern anime movies with the best of the best effects? One of those movies isn't even made in Japan. The one with the worst animation, I'd argue. That's some selection process.

Just finished my Mass Effect 2 run with Arrival. Could have used a boss fight. And now I'm not feeling inspired to play anything. So I might finish a couple of books. I hate when this happens, but it'll be a good change of pace. Until Portal 2 comes out.

They haven't been too particular about releasing patches simultaneously so far, have they? Can't remember about the big ME2 patch, though, pretty sure the DAO patches were all over the place. Did ME2 even get a big patch? Conrad Verner was never fixed, either.

Well, there's a couple of things here. Quantum teleportation of the sort relevant to the discussion does not need to travel. However, it can not be used to convey information and make phone calls in the first place.
