  1. Berserker/Wizard (Warlock) is my favorite melee hybrid in Pillars 2. Your Frenzy applies to spells, which gives you flexibility with grimoires. Most of your core Wizard buffs show up early on so the build works well right out of the box. Simply set up an AI script with Infuse with Vital Essence -> Fleet Feet -> Merciless Gaze -> Frenzy. Defensive spells like Llengrath's Displaced Image and Ironskin add survivability. I generally go two-weapons with Sword, Flail, and Axe as my primary weapons; sometimes I'll use dual pistols or cast offensive spells. I haven't tried a full on Gish Warlock yet, but I'm sure Citzal's plus Frenzy is devastating.
  2. Xoti: Priest/Chanter. Wouldn't be too far off thematically what with her hoopin' and hollerin'.
  3. I usually get a good 45 - 60 fps in most parts of the game, but Queen's Berth and ship battles (especially ones with Weather Mages) heat up my gpu something fierce.
  4. Yeah. The balancing in this game has left a sour taste for sure. I returned to crpgs because of poor balancing in another game (Guild Wars 2), and here we are again - the old Berath's wheel's turning again. Luckily, modding is generally easy so bogus changes like the Beckoner nerf can be wiped away in a few minutes. On that note, I feel really bad for players who will pick this up on consoles.
  5. I don't like the narration either. It's too whispy and relaxed for a game centered on exploration and adventure. I either slogged through it or sped read the text to make it end sooner.
  6. And I didn't bother with them even before, because I deemed them a complete waste of money. I mean, should I spend it to save myself from pressing "1" 3 fewer times, or on weapons that I'll actually use to resolve the conflict with and save time there? It does seem like a weird change. Players aren't using ship combat enough so let's increase the cost of admission. Voyager ftw.
  7. Bloatbelly Eel (needed for a Pukestabber upgrade) spawns in the table on the second floor of The Wild Mare. All other sources seem RNG.
  8. It will. You use Infuse at the start so your subsequent buffs get a duration bonus.
  9. With the casting speed of a few Powers reduced to .5, I'm having a blast on my Cipher/Ghost Heart. The instant recovery proc on Saint Omaku's Mercy (Galawain's Harry; 50 percent on crit) combines well with stuff like Eyestrike, Mental Binding, Pain Block or Secret Horrors. Driving Flight gives you a second chance to proc the effect and gain additional Focus at the same time. Frostseeker's probably better at the end of the day but this makes for a nice alternative.
  10. Infuse with Vital Essence -> Fleet Feet -> Merciless Gaze -> Defensive Spell if needed -> Frenzy is my usual starting order on Berserker/Wizard (Warlock).
  11. Will the weapon spawn on a pre-1.2 save? I went to his shop and it wasn't in his vendor list.
  12. Reverted the new (bad) range on Whisper of Treason so Beguilers get to keep one of their strengths on a signature skill (20 percent range bonus on nothing is nothing). Duration and new Charmed functionality remain the same.
  13. The casting changes to some Cipher powers make the Galawain warbow (can't recall the name at current) an excellent substitute for Frostseeker in a Seer build. With Driving Flight, you get two chances at negating the attack recovery, allowing you to quickly spend that Focus on Mental Binding, Eyestrike, and the like.
  14. Yep. I see zero reason to purchase figurines now: just like Animacy Cat, they had to wreck a feature for the sake of balance without shaving down the cost. This nerf feels lazy and uninspired*. *Edit: If I ran the zoo, I'd make charges on curios a difficulty setting or add some kind of Arcana functionality/scaling.
  15. Looks good for the most part. Definitely going to be reverting the range nerf on Whisper of Treason and the Zahua duration, though.
  16. I agree that a detour in the main quest would've been a good way to even out the pacing. One of my favorite moments in Deadfire was searching for a Principi flag in Delver's Row: leading into The Gullet, Dareo's place, and the Old City, was a good, long adventure.
  17. I've been having some good fun with a Devoted/Priest of Berath (Cleric) lately. Touch of Rot is obscenely powerful early on, and the Fighter portion provides a good degree of defense. Casting times on Priest spells are horrid, though, so I modded the Spiritual Greatsword summon down to a .5 cast time and reduced the recovery on Berath's version of Spreading Plague.
  18. I think you can buy herfwarts in Delver's Row or The Hole. Bloatbelly eel seems rare to the point of being a bug: in 175 hours, I've only found one, located on the second floor of The Wild Mare.
  19. Thank you, thank you. I've been looking for a solid Shadowdancer build with the exact same purpose. Definitely going to try this out after my Sorcerer run.
  20. For the sake of almighty balance, there should be a pet that gives you a bonus while wearing nothin' at all.
  21. Warlock (Berserker/Wizard) is quickly becoming my favorite combination due to its flexibility and sheer speed: I can go from stealth Empowered fireballs/missiles to trigger Bloodlust, then stack my buffs and go into the fray with swords, flails, and axes; hang back with dual pistols and casting; load up on gear with Bloodied effects (especially the Whitewitch mask); beeline to backliners with Fleet Feet. A number of PLs do feel a bit unrewarding, but this is more of a sum of its parts kind of deal. I've also had good fun with Shadowdancer (Rogue/Shattered Pillar) for its speed and mobility, though it's mostly in stasis barring cosmetic slots. Nice.
