Serafen
I like his voice, but it seems to switch between ****ney and Australian! I mean the voice doesn't suit an orlan whatsoever but it sounds badass at the same time. It has my stamp of approval!

The First Impressions Thread
daven replied to Sedrefilos's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I much prefer this slower speed of the combat. Hits actually feel like they have some weight to them. I agree about the intro being way too long, it just dumps a load of words at you what don't really mean anything if you're a first time player. Then you spend ages waiting to get to character creation... it's Dark Souls 2 all over again!

The First Impressions Thread
daven replied to Sedrefilos's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)There is, but if you haven't played Pillars already, you can't know what it is that you're choosing. Who's this? What's that? Why did I had to do this? etc It's just choices no backstory of what's happening. Even I that have played Pillars and tried the history maker had to open the wiki to remind myself of some people and places. Imagine one that has no idea of Pillars whatsoever. Anyway, the feature is cool, of course, and helps a lot, but even if you make all those choices, if you haven't played Pillars so to experience each one and know who all these people are adn what their actions did, you'll encounter the outcomes in Deadfire but won't mean anything to you. That's why I suggest and recomend a full Pillars playthrough before Deadfire. I'm sure, though, that Deadfire is good enough to grip you by its own, for what it is. Good point, I was thinking that when I was doing it. It was a good thing I understood everything it asked me a new player would have no chance. But I suppose that's why there's like 6 or 7 premade backgrounds.

I can't *cough* make it *cough*
daven replied to fortuntek's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)If you are English you have to tell them you have Diarrhea, if you are European just say a semi distant family member has died. Not sure what the American excuse is.

Preloaded Dreadfire, uninstalled the BB
As it stands, is the gameplay you've witnessed better than POE1?

[POTD Difficulty] Launch NOT tuned discussion thread
In the greater sort of, view of the game... does this mean they spread themselves too thin? Surely they should cut the features down and try finish the ones they have rather than add more and leave them unfinished?

I love the new main theme
daven replied to Ninjamestari's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah it's good, reminds me more of LOTR. Definitely has a vibe of adventure. Which I hope the game is all about!

What class(s) are you planning making your first character and why?
daven replied to Riftis's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Single class Fighter, always play that. Is it boring? Maybe... but I just like having my character a regular adventurer type guy with no magic or anything.

daven replied to ravencrest1985's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Or those for whom having companions to take along with you on your adventures is a huge part of their enjoyment of the game and now they have one less of those companions to take along. Enough with the straw man of people being unhappy over things being different. Well is 7 party members better than 6? Where does it end?

[POTD Difficulty] Launch NOT tuned discussion thread
Well least they're being upfront as they can about it. Remember before Numenera came out? Wasn't there tons of broken promises they wouldn't speak about?

daven replied to ravencrest1985's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Like the others have said, at first there was outrage just because WE DON'T LIKE THINGS THAT'RE DIFFERENT! Then when it was explained and tested for ourselves we realised oh yeah it actually makes sense and is a better design decision. Except for the few who are still outraged because WE DON'T LIKE THINGS THAT'RE DIFFERENT!

My steam says 9th of May release ? I thought it was the 8th?
daven replied to master guardian's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Ach dammit! Why that second part? I already typed half of my reply in my head! :hairpull: Lol, he is right, no gamer (well normal ones) plays only one genre. That said, everyone does have a favorite genre. And if your favorite genre is traditional party based single player RPG's you really don't have much happening in the month of May outside Deadfire. Well there is Hyper Dimension Neptunia, but do I really need to explain how Deadfire and it are aimed at two wildly different groups of people? This is not true. I only play RPGs. Literally, no other genre interests me. I'm playing Battletech right now... which is basically an RPGlite with mechs instead of swords and magic. I guess we're going off topic now, but the OP has been answered... How is Battletech? I've seen some real iffy reviews.

Who is playing on the 8th?
Turns out I won't be playing until at least the 25th now! You guys enjoy it in my stead.

How good, mediocre or plain bad will Deadfire be?
daven replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I hope it's pretty good, but come on it's a piece of entertainment at the end of the day. People make out as if it's some life changing event when a certain game or movie comes out. Don't take these things so seriously folks!
