No idea what the sales are, but i see it as a problem that while Deadfire potentially appeals to a much wider audience, that aspect is in conflict with the story making hardly any sense to new players. It's also exspensive, which is going to be off putting to newcomers. I like very few games and while I wanted to buy POE for ages, I eventually only bought it once it was on sale.

Not a great fan of Xoti myself although she's quite handy as a pure monk, but I don't hate her. What annoys me the most about her isn't her religious babble per se but her narrowminded attitude. Considered a kind of heretic herself, she'll be all uppity about people who don't believe in the gods although The Watcher and Pallegina already know the gods are fake. Then Aloth's nauseating and imo non-senseical compulsive approval of her also really irks me. It'd be okay if it was only pro Leaden Key Aloth doing it, but it's not. I'd have been pro getting rid of some of the really boring interactions with the other gods and especially the repetetive bell ringing blablabla and replacing that with meaningful interactions with Eothas. Honestly I just want to skip through all of that, lol. Anyway, I read a comment somewhere yesterday when I was falling asleep (cannot find anymore) about Adra. In POE1 Adra is described as the veins of Eora, making Eora alive (reminding somewhat of lyrium in Dragon Age). So what if Adra used to be responsible for reincarnation and the Engwithans essentially broke that in order to be immortal? Could that mean that ultimately keeping the wheel would end all things? I'm prolly way off here but the whole thing about gods creating the wheel and Eothas breaking it to "make things better" just won't fit in my puny brain xD

I love Tek too. He's my favourite character in the game. However, I find the whole arc of him not having sex with you and prattling about his other encounters instead really strange. This could be stretching out for a year or more while you travel around and are meant to be in a relationship with him lol. I also don't like it when games provide romances where you can tell the person you want to end it in every single interaction.

It's pretty confusing and while people have theories on it, the story should ideally not be so vague that no one actually knows what any of it means or feels any real motivation to pick one thing or the other at the end. The thing about the Gods creating reincarnation although people were obviously born before without it is really confusing, as is the concept of making the wheel again - if it gets remade, why break it? Eothas refuses to explain why his actions will create this alleged Golden Age. The main story is the worst thing about the game. Theories and guessing should for the most part be confined to things that are uncovered by doing side quests/reading codex etc.

I'd prefer to have companion interactions to those really long-winded main story interactions with the gods that end up being a pain in the ass, cos you are trying to do something else when they barge in and all the interactions with them don't seem to go anywhere anyway. I'd also prefer my companions to judge me for things that matter or things I actually say to them, than because I picked some convo line of no consequence they randomly decide to object to, or at least have the opportunity to discuss their views. So long story short: yes lol.

Yeah, Maia says it's a pity the PC and fishboy are chummy, or else...and trails away. Also, keep Gina and Maia in for Tekehu's Tales of Torrid Tumblings, they have some funny reactions. Also2, on the subject on conflicts and character development - Maia and Tekehu butted heads when he hit -2 with her. And then made up and hugged and it was kind of sweet. Did they stay @ -2?

Talking of svef & whiteleaf, is a stacking debuff intended? I used whiteleaf on Eder twice and ended up with a stacked debuff that wouldn't go away without resting, so I've never bothered since. -
Basically, although you are supposed to swtich out, unless you keep respeccing, you don't. Because you'll be trying to pick spells on level up that aren't in your gimoire, and as a lot of the spells in Grimoires overlap, you just end up getting confused. For instance, if I want to cast fireball and then realise it's not in the Grimpoire I have equipped, I just won't use it. I'm not gonna switch the grimoire for one spell and then switch back, esp since casting takes long enough as is, and the mobs have usually moved by the time you are done, or your mates have moved into the aoe. Also, there's no grimoire that's really especially great. They tend to have 1-2 really good unique spells. Same. I switched out way more in POE1 as the Grimoires were actually different.

Both are bad, but the Huana culture is theirs to fix and Tekehu makes noises that suggest he'd want to do that. Supressing their culture and replacing it with another, especially one that actively supports slavery including slavery of the Huana, doesn't seem a whole lot better and depleting a natural valuable resource for profit can ultimately be more destructive in the long run. I think if slavery is one's main focus, one would have to pick the RDC or Aeldys. Yeah I meant DA2 Anders. Aloth is a mini Fenders xD Especially his romance, if one does manage to trigger it (by cheating in my case), reminds me of Fenris. Also thanks for the Timtams :D I do seem to have hit the ultimate bugged Aloth playthrough and might have to exclude him from my party until he's fixed cos I'm sersiously starting to hate him. Even the romance is irritating me xD Viv isn't shallow. She's a master of "the game" (DAI's version of Deadfire diplomacy). You never really know what she thinks and the feeling I got from Viv was that she's trying to manouever mages into a position of power and influence, but doesn't agree with the revolution approach. The emptiness is her facade, which she maintains very well. Pallegina does remind me more of Cass, minus Cass' more "cute" aspects, though I see similarities to Viv too.

I do hope they fix it. It's not only the conflicts that bug him out, but also because he keeps disapproving of completely random stuff, like what some npc says, or the fact you helped someone cos that means you are a show off (and the alternative is to walk off and leave them to it) and unless you don't see a lot of the disapproval, he seems to blame stuff companions say on the Watcher. As I mentioned above, I've reloaded every time he disapproved *of my Watcher* visibly in my current pt, except once, and he was stuck at 0 until I used the console. I have come across the other companions approving of some completely random stuff, but it's way less than Aloth (Tekehu approved when I chanted NEMNOK, for instance o.O ). I also do not think my character is in some massive conflict with Aloth. He's super nice. Avoids killing whenever he can in some way, helps everyone, never says stuck up stuff, tries to avoid all those comments Aloth has a fit about cos tradition or whatever, so w/e. In fact, he's nicer than my last character by a lot and that one even got to +1 *shrug* Really? I haven't seen this at all.

If you are rude to that first group you meet, he disapproves, but it's pretty easy to get the rep back up. I threatened them with a test char I made and had it back up to 0 really fast by cracking jokes. No one says anything when you steal and pickpocket throughout the rest of the game, outside of scripted interactions.

Wael was my favourite in POE1, and my current char broke the pledge to Hylea to do what it wanted. Like you say, in Deadfire all it does is throw fits and the only good thing about it is that it looks hilarious. Also, why is there no reference to whatever god's bidding you did in 1? If there is, I missed it. I didn't even know what god my first Deadfire Watcher pledged to as I couldn't remember. Also agree about Eothas. Maybe because he has part of the Watcher's soul? But like a lot in the game, it's all much too vague.

I don't. I get enough of that in real life. Driving a sharp, bleak crucifix in the nuts may be enjoyable if it's a movie and you're watching something by someone like Lars von Trier. In a game that prizes itself on the multitude of ways to take on and/or invest yourself in the world before you, saying that it was ultimately all for naught is the last thing I usually want to hear. But that's just me. Yeah well like I said it depends upon the game. If it's built up to make narrative sense I like it, if it just feels meh, it's just meh.

I actually like games where the player's actions are ultimately pointless, but I think the much maligned DA2 did it better. In Deadfire, the whole main plot centers around following this huge dude around, which if you actually play the game, you aren't doing. You're faffing around the Deadfire for up to 1 and a half years, while he basically waits for you feeding off souls to sustain himself. The other gods come across as impotent. So while I do really like the game and bugs etc aside, The main plot is its greatest weakness imo. Even when you get to pick something to request from Eothas, it just feels like a rehash of the POE1 ending and I didn't feel I had the remotest clue what would be the best option.

Had to search for this as I had no clue where we discussed it. I had to figure out how to use the console cos the Nemnok quest bugged out and I'm sick of buggy quests in my current pt. So I thought, might as well try the Aloth cheat while I'm at it. I had to input the cheatcode for his approval about 20 times before getting to +2. This basically means I have no hope in hell of getting it up normally as I have literally no idea at all what I'm doing wrong xD

This quest is also bugged for me. I killed the Lich and looted everything, yet the quest says I'm missing the required item. I don't know how to do console commands, and whether that works or not, it's not really a solution as most people won't do that/know how to lol. Edited to add - resorted to googling it and it just says "GiveItem" is not available at this time. Edited again to add I forgot the iroll bit so it does work.
