The other day during my second play-through, all the young Bomas in Dxun and Onderon made some female pained exclamation when attacking. I kept searching who it was before realizing it was the beast.

I have difficulty believing this; someone so stupid as to do that to the graphics card wouldn't have tried to install it himself in the first place, and paid money to a technician to do it.

Turrican, on the Commodore 64 I still waste hours on it on emulators

try this: A good selection of games; Hungarian abandonware site (One of the rare sites where it's still possible to find the classics for free) Also, among old game companies, Cinemaware and Factor 5 release their Amiga games for free, on their websites. Be sure to check these out if you were a Wings, or Turrican fan. You'll need an emulator as well; I use WinUAE which has worked seamlessly for me up to now: Website for the WinUAE Amiga Emulator for the kickstart roms (which you're going to need if you're running WinUAE) then check this out: Rom files for Amiga 500 and 1200 for the Commodore 64, just google "CCS64" and visit the Ever growing site for C64 disk images (On Emule, it's possible to dl a series of archives that are supposed to contain EVERY amiga game ever released; you must have already found what I'm referring to.)

wookie jedi and the lesson of strength
Sabahattin Dere replied to Knights&Darths's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
as far as I know, Lucas invented Chewbacca to have him stand for "man's best friend" in the movie, so kids would love him as they love Lassie. so the only suitable force power a jedi-wookie may have, is Retrieve Lightsaber (funny, eh? I too hate Wookies) -
What's with the cameos?
Sabahattin Dere replied to Nur Ab Sal's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
just a quick reminder: You can get a cameo appearance of Bastila if you chose the LS/Male option for Revan as well. (T3 plays a epIV-Leia style holo if you can get to fix him) Compared to the Korriban appearance, she says practically the same thing about where Revan went, if I remember correctly; *but* again if memory serves me right, there was a hint of more info. concerning the true sith. -
KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Sabahattin Dere replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The K-3 thread now ran away! Bravely ran away away! When mods did show their thoughtful head, it bravely turned its tail and fled; Yes, and also now the game's in doubt So gallantly it chickened out! (many monty python fans out there.......) -
KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Sabahattin Dere replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's funny that in Star Wars lexicon 'Saber' has come to stand for the humming shiny extension. I want the opportunity to have 4 members in my party so that: I may equip one with Light-Katanas, one with a Light-Bo, the other with Light-Nunchukas and the next one with Light-Sai -

Sabahattin Dere replied to Hircine's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
As long as they make good Star Wars RPGs, it doesn't have to be on the Kotor series. Seriously, if they won't be able to find a good way to round up Revan's story then a fresh RPG taking place at another time period would be more than welcome. An adventure sometime between ep3 and ep4, where we get to play a Jedi in hiding who among other things also gets to meet Obi Wan on Tatooine to engage in a side quest to protect the baby Luke----I don't think anyone would say No to that! -
Kotor 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Sabahattin Dere replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Check out the Tales of the Jedi comics; you'd find far more 'fantastic' ideas over there; Kotor draws from that aspect of Star Wars. Actually this was the topic of a hot debate on these forums, almost a year ago. one of the views set forth there, I agree with: the 'Star Wars sense' of the OT was almost wholly circumscribed by the technical difficulties of the 70s. Just compare the two Yodas: The OT Yoda, is an out and out Muppet. The recent one swirls and bounces around, wears all sorts of facial expressions, etc. etc. So anyway: I guess 'The Star Wars Feel' has to do more with the Lucasian 'simple-moralistic-tale' than with any 'realism' (?!!!) as to the extent of powers. Just pull the story right, have it entertaining as opposed to *cought*incomplete*cough* and you can blow up as many star systems as you like. -

Kotor 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Sabahattin Dere replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Now that I've seen it mentioned, let me say that I'd like Kotor 3 to feature an epic space battle: The SW-feel would be left incomplete in the absence of one; if the Kotor games aspire to be SW game/movies, then it's time they introduced fully fledged space combat in which the Player has at least some role as a pilot. (Well, K1 had the 'battle of Star Forge'-----during which, we were on foot.) When I had first read complaints over the ebon hawk shooter mini-game in K1, my immediate response was that capturing the 'classic' SW-feel with that allusion to ANH was a really fine idea, not at all a boring pointless diversion. Now, why not push the idea a little further and have *some sort of* space-simulation in K3? Kotor is no Rebel Assault, I know; but it's time our Kotor-Jedi got to display their skills in the chockpit. In the movies, piloting aircraft appears to be a basic Jedi skill, and offers proof for mastery of the Force-----cf. young Anakin proving himself a prodigy; Luke making the transition from farmboy to rebel hero, etc. -
TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress

am I missing something? has there been any tangible info (or even some hint) as to K3 being in development sometime soon?

Is it conspicuity, the fact that it's no longer congruity in the uses of the word continuity is by now, calamity? -
Things I liked about TSL
Sabahattin Dere replied to MaglorD's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
A little off topic, but a minor point that I could bring up concerning what I liked is that the character names perhaps made more sense, this time. As I recall nobody was able to make something out of the names "Malak" and "Revan"; though this time there were some solid connotations. Traya---------------> Traitor? Nihilus--------------> Obvious, this name Visas Marr---------->Someone on the boards suggested VISion MARRed which makes sense, I think Sion-----------------> This might be far fetched, but because he believed he was the 'chosen apprentice'? Atris-----------------> Adapted from the Latin word for 'unfortunate' or 'gloomy' Hanharr-------------> The type of name that a Wookie can pronounce any ideas for Bao-Dur? "Dur" could suggest strong, or solid. -

KOTOR2 Ending as KOTOR3 Prologue
Sabahattin Dere replied to Anach's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I also thought that could be how they would 'fix' the story. -
The issue with the ending is not one of 'kind' but one of 'degree of execution'. Seeing how the game unfolds, precisely this 'kind' of ending is what one expects; in that sense it truly is great. On the other hand, that ending-concept is only poorly executed. Before I saw on these boards the thread about the cut endings, I was totally lost what happened to Mira, the Ebon Hawk, the remote-Goto encounter, the other party members; I still don't know what to make of that odd Nihilus confrontation. Nevertheless, I had 'liked' the game, and the ending too. As I said, the problem pertains to how a great ending idea ended up being squandered.
-
As I understand, upon confronting the Exile, he was meant to perish. BUT -the way the confrontation was handled leaves something to be desired. It's not so much a problem a about the easiness of the fight, as one about lack of proper introduction for Nihilus. Besides the fact that he immediately ends up crawling on the floor panting makes things worse. I gather that there are cut scenes involving Nihilus as well; even one including an encounter on Peragus. It's obvious, I think, that we get to see the 'abridged version' in the game; the original conception must have been different.

When would a dev. be 'free' at all to comment on these?

My cheap trick in all fights is to run around like mad, take a few shots, and then continue running. This time I played through as LS consular-jedi master and with the exception of a really powerful force wave and statis field, my character was really weak when it came to fighting. the twin suns is one place where running doesn't work because the area is not circular; you're bound to run into the adversary someway or another. The bar is the surest solution I think. Either way it's exploiting the limitations of the AI; the enemy can only pursue you in a limited number of ways. Going around a circle it never occurs to him to just cut in front of you; the twilek ladies can't think of going behind the bar themselves!!!
