  1. I also think improvements to the website would be a great start. Obsidian.net isn't bad, but it does feel isolated from all the other social media outlets. It may not need to be the one-stop aggregator for twitter/instagram/facebook/youtube, but nobody would miss the poll box (last updated in 2015!) if it were replaced by a social media feed. As it is, Mikey and Aarik seem to be using Twitter pretty effectively to push info and promote interesting stories or fan content. However, that info generally doesn't loop back to the website and forums very often (if at all). (How many people around here know about OEW and other random Obsidian jokes and stuff?) Rather than some grand unified social media portal (if that is the above intent), small things like better highlighting some of the existing social media presences might also do the trick. Also, can we have a merch store (pretty please!). I don't want my next chance to order an Obsidian Hoodie be during the Pillars of Eternity III crowdfunding campaign!
  2. Aldern Foxglove is a useless ally that you always receive as a reward (or at least I always got him) for beating Local Heroes scenario. I think that should still be how you find him. He is an "unlisted" Ally card. Even though that card is part of the base game, he shouldn't turn up in location decks when you play through scenarios. Though, if [spoilerz happen], I think your party save is marked to stop getting him as a reward.
  3. No. There's some debate whether you want to consider it a "bug" or an "unimplemented rule," but there is presently no way to pass on acquiring a boon like the rules permit. As noted above, your best option is to click on the check type in the top-center of the screen and select a skill that the character may not have. Throwing a single d4 is usually enough to flub a boon check. There was an old thread noting all this a little while back, as well as a newer discussion on how not having the ability to pass on boon checks may pose problems when at the Vault of Greed location.
  4. Sorry, I assumed you were on iOS. Game Center login issues are a pretty common occurrence. With Google Play however, it has some other quirky issue where it generates a new PFID for some reason and you get shut out of your "old" account. There was a bug report about that just the other day. Have you noticed if your "Username #1234" displayed in the top-left corner appears to have changed?
  5. Check that you are logged into iOS Game Center with the right account. When you upgrade phones or iOS versions, sometimes you don't get signed back in. 1. Open your phone and go to the Settings app 2. Scroll down about a third of the way and look for "Game Center". It should be immediately above the Twitter and Facebook 3. Tap "Sign In" at the top of the screen to log in with your Apple ID. If that was your issue, the next time you restart Pathfinder, everything should be back to normal.
  6. I have no idea what the cause is (not an Android user), but there have been a handful of reports where a Google Play account went rogue and created itself a new PFID. Here's one similar support thread. Sorry you've been waiting this long on a response , but the good news is that you have all the PFID info that the support crew would need to fix it. In other cases like this, they've been able to manually reconnect profiles or shift things back to the way they were before. There isn't much you can do on the user-end of things to correct this, but in the meantime, it should be perfectly safe to continue playing on Steam. I know it isn't your preferred platform, but there isn't much else to do while you wait on a fix.
  7. Assuming you are talking about the post-game deck building, no, it's not a bug. That's just how the digital app plays. Due to the fact that you can freely rearrange characters and create/disband parties, the game has always needed to be lax about checking if your decks have "legal" content. The Stash and Unclaimed Tab are also a new addition to the game. It is now much easier to equip your party with cards "over" their level. Open up some treasure chests, and you'll be gifted copies for those cards for immediate use. See this thread for some other details. Whether or not you should take advantage of over-level cards is bit of community debate at this point, but in all honestly, enjoy the game in whatever manner you choose. If you think you shouldn't have a card, get rid of it. If you want to stack out a new party with Legendary treasures, that's fine too.
  8. Completely agree. Bugs aren't like classic cars. I can't think of any issues that have improved with age. *cough* passing on boon checks instead of having to roll *cough cough* Workarounds are just as frustrating as the issues they solve. I'd rather the community get back to month-long debates on trivial matters (like what happens when Lini plays an animal ally at the farm house) than trying to help users parse out expected vs. actual vs. rules-legal behaviors. Broken is broken. Old broken is still broken. But if a user strolls into the forum looking for assistance, I'd like to think that the community might be able to help them out until a patch gets crafted instead of watching them leave and never come back. Community engagement is something I've always liked about the Pathfinder ACG. There's no such thing as a stupid question when it probably has a half-dozen different, yet equally interesting, answers.

Both threads have had a dev response, and they are looking into it. Indications are that it is potentially a "memory issue." It is hard to nail down precisely what they mean by that, but it could be things like: - Too many characters simultaneously loading too may things and breaking stuff - Bad character data breaking stuff - Bad party save data breaking stuff It doesn't necessarily have any relation to the physical amount of memory in your device. It is likelier related to how stuff is read into memory, and what happens when the game has either more or less data than it was expecting to receive. Check out this post, and maybe PM the dev your info. If a fix isn't already in the works, it looks like he was in the process of trying to figure out any details on which platforms or users are more likely to get caught in a crash loop.

  11. I'm guessing OP probably isn't coming back, but if he does, the community could probably lend some insight in how to avoid whatever problems keep occurring. It has been a while since I last remember the game providing hours of frustration. The biggest problem right now seems to be users with old/corrupted data that prevents the game from even starting. Nobody is trying to make excuses for the existence of bugs, but between the 3-month closed beta, and the last year of mobile release (the "open beta" ), many of the remaining issues are fairly well-understood at this point. Yes, it's been quiet in the forums lately, but now that the flurry of hot-fixes is out of the way, I've got to imagine that the devs are busy prepping for the next semi-major patch and pulling Legendary QA runs for the coming Rise of the Goblins ADG1.
  12. The BotG is simply copying the Blessing of Lamashtu visible as the top card on blessings deck. It is giving you the ability to: "Discard this card to add 1 die to any check. Bury this card to add 2 dice to any check to defeat a monster." If you tap on the Blessings Deck, there should also be an option to toggle on/off the BotG/FotG copy ability.
  13. Back in the tabletop edition of the game, Promo Cards were a perk of the Pathfinder ACG subscription plan. Players would find them inserted into their scheduled shipments. Occasionally, if you were super-lucky, paizo would include them in regular orders too. Though, now you can just buy them for about $3 apiece. Generally goblin-themed, they were usually pretty cool, and a tiny bit more overpowered or versatile than a regular card. Now that we've gone digital, just about everyone has access to those promo cards as part of the RoTR bundle. Open up your card collection and check out the P Deck. Obsidian has also released a few promos of their own like the Goblin Golem or Rooster. They are entirely separate from treasure cards. Since they do not have an Adventure Deck number, they are potentially available in every scenario.
  14. Quick follow-up: the steam release also came with a 2017 revision of the Rise of the Runelords Rulebook. I'm reasonably sure it was also in a previous revision, but compared to the original, the rules now specifically note things like: "for example, playing the spell Aid on a check does not give the check the Divine trait" on page 14.
  15. Working as Intended. Though, it took until Skull and Shackles for the rulebook put out some clear guidance on how traits get added to checks. Traits are added to a check in one of the three following ways: 1. The card you are playing for the check automatically transfers its traits into the check. 2. If additional cards are played that specifically state to add traits to a check, those traits are added as well 3. The skill you are using for the roll, and any skill it may be based on, are additional traits for the purpose of the check. If character A attempts a check with a Longsword, and Character B casts Guidance to give them a boost, that does not add the Magic trait to the check. One of the game designers, Mike Selinker did inadvertently tell the community something to the effect of "all cards give their traits to the check", but he later reversed that opinion in late 2013, and it's been that way in the rulebooks ever since.
  16. Not quite. Once you link your mobile version and PC version, your account is the combination of the content you own. If you're just getting in on Pathfinder Adventures now, what you should do is: 1. Buy the Standard Edition or Obsidian Edition on steam while it still on sale for 25% off for the next ~20 hours, apply your 10% coupon 2. Download the app for free on iOS/Andriod 3. Link your mobile account and PC account 4. Enjoy all the stuff you just purchased for PC, on your mobile platform for free! Net costs should be in the neighborhood of $17 US (Basic Ed.) or $26 US (Obs. Ed.) and you will be able to use the content across all of your platforms.
  17. That sounds about right. That number has always been notoriously off. Included in that 1318 are unreleased cards, promos, "enhancement cards", and a handful of other things that derp up the total count. I've got 1265, and I'm reasonably sure I'm not missing anything other than some of the cards you can purchase for gold.
  18. Geez. Yeah. You're completely right. The FAQ certainly permits that, even if the rulebook itself it a little vague on replays. If anything, I suppose this is the difference I miss most between the Digital and Tabletop Pathfinder editions: Getting into debates about rules with relative certainty you are correct, and then being informed you missed one detail that completely upends how you remember things. When in doubt, read the text on the cards,... then read the rulebook, then check the paizo FAQ, then search the internet for a post from Vic Wertz or Mike Selinker, then finally make a post of your own and hope for an official response.
  19. It's not too impossible to get a near-vanilla experience. 1. Go to Settings, turn off "Treasure Cards in Story Mode" 2. Sell off all the cards in your Stash / Unclaimed Tab 3. Start a new campaign with new characters and Permadeath on 4. Play through each scenario on normal mode (do not replay completed scenarios!) 5. Sell all excess cards after scenarios; do not stash them 6. If a character dies, they can be replaced by a new character (that will probably be at a severe disadvantage due to missed feats and terrible cards) Several of us around here have made the argument that the game could benefit from some sort of "Trial of Iron" mode to automatically manage tabletop-style rules. As you've said, everyone is just trying to enjoy the game. But I've got a feeling that whatever you see the app branch a little from tabletop norms, it is because the devs have collected enough gameplay data that such changes likely benefit the majority of players. EDIT: Play through scenarios as many times as you want. Rules do permit it, even if some of us around here seem to forget that...
  20. Okay... I believe that the Wand of Force Missile should activate Ezren the Evoker's Force Expertise power to add 2 to an Arcane Force check. The short explanation is: - In playing the Wand of Force Missile for a combat check, the traits from that card get added to the check. - Additionally, the text of that card explicitly states to add both the Arcane and Force traits to the check. - Even if Ezren is not using his Arcane die, the check is an Arcane Force check, and Force Expertise should trigger. I swear this must have come up before around here. I know it has been answered by the game developers on Paizo's Forums. I don't think I've missed any rules errata that would have changed this. In theory, you should even be able to play an Acolyte to add an additional 1d4 to the wand's check. I tend to avoid both those cards so I suppose that's why I've never noticed anything funny with the Wand of Force Missile in the digital app...
  21. Yeah, the process is really opaque. Maxing out the treasure selection usually isn't too harmful, but if you have an awful lot one particular treasure card, it might skew things pretty hard. That is an argument for the auto-salvage system. In many cases, trimming your treasure cards down might actually do a lot to improve the variety of those cards your party encounters. So, just focusing on a B-Level scenario and spells. When you start, the game has access to the ~330 B Deck cards, 40 of which are spells. Before it deals the locations, it will select maybe 20 random B Deck treasure cards and mix them in with the rest of the cards. The game only has 3 Cure cards, and that includes all those your party may also be carrying. If it happens to pull in a handful of Beast Skins, it does have some significant effects on altering card probabilities. Though, to caveat, I haven't verified that this is how things still work in the latest couple versions. But, this has been the treasure card process ever since they have first been introduced. It is possible that a change or bug got introduced to bypass or increase the previous limitations on how many treasure cards the game picks per scenario. If that's the case, adding 10 Beast Skins into each game would really break things. The way it used to work (and still may), no matter what quantity of treasure cards you own, about two in three boons you encounter should still be normal RoTR campaign cards. Edit: No apparent changes in treasure selection. Your particular set of treasure cards might just be really imbalanced. Perhaps the auto-salvage will address it eventually.
  22. Treasure cards certainly do have an effect on the overall boon pool, but regardless of how many you have, their effect is somewhat limited. Not every treasure card is available for game play every scenario. When you play with treasure cards on, a certain number of treasure cards (~15-25) from each Adventure Deck get randomly chosen and mixed in with the "regular" cards. The game then uses that set to deal out the location decks for the scenario. Treasure cards compete with each other to make the cut, then have to compete with all cards to be put into play. That way, no matter how many treasure cards you have, they should be somewhat capped at 25-35% of the boons in play. As far as the back-end salvage goes, it is a slow process. It's more like slowly pruning a Bonsai tree than clear-cutting a forest. It will come around for your Smiths eventually. In your situation, everything is working as intended, though, we're in a transition state between the old Salvage system and what the future is ushering in.
  23. Reinstall without fear. As long as you have been playing online regularly (collecting gold, see the "logged in" popup when you start the game), it means you should be synced up to the cloud. After a reinstall it will come right back from the server.
  24. You should be totally fine. I've deleted and reinstalled plenty of times without loss on iOS. Worst-case, the game will forget about all the helpful tooltips it has shown you will need to go to the Settings menu and turn them back off. As long as you sign back in with the same account you will be fine. Edit: Yes, just about everything is stored in the cloud. The only real things that arent are app settings and which pop-up windows it has shown you.
  25. It still works that way... but... it is possible that the Stash circumvents the treasure cap check system. The game used to cut down excess copies of a party's treasure cards only during party management. It made sense at the time, because the only way to mule around Treasure cards involved moving around characters. It is entirely possible that the deck management screen now needs to run that treasure card check too. As far as the game auto-salvaging your treasure cards, it appears that it is just a slow process. Rather than just check all your cards at once, it was only checking about two cards per login. Theoretically, it could take a long time to go through and audit your treasure cards (especially on iOS if the game stays running in the background). At least that is how it used to be. I'm not 100% sure what may be going on right now.
