  1. Try the reinstall. It is generally harmless as long as you've been regularly playing online/connected to the internet. After the delete/reinstall all your characters/parties/cards will sync back down from the server as long as you're using the same Google Play Store account that you used previously. If you want to back up everything first, this post from a long time ago should give you an idea where to find the saves. If things don't sync back from the server, you should just be able to copy your save folder back after you reinstall pathfinder.
  2. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Backer Update 34 was just released a little while ago. In it, Katrina mentioned that there will be some cool goodies for those who backed Deadfire! Here is the Pathfinder clip if you're only interested in the relevant bit of the video.
  3. Well, I'm 100% behind whatever's coming. I still believe that the digital version of Pathfinder Adventures can rise to be better than the original, and not simply be content to emulate the tabletop experience. #PathfinderHype
  4. I entirely agree with what everyone has said so far about banish cards. I'd rather have a mediocre card I can rely on instead of a awesome one that is banished after use. The net cost is always more than the loss of that specific card; after the scenario, your character runs a pretty good chance of filling the hole in their deck with a Troubadour or Mattock. Even having a slim reserve of cards will allow players to experiment with combinations they might otherwise pass on. Part of what makes Pathfinder Adventures different is its approach to deck-building. It isn't incredibly difficult to figure out, but as a free game, there hasn't been much emotional or financial investment to figure out the rules when it gets confusing. If a user leaves the game frustrated, they probably won't come back. It's bad for the PACG community, and bad for the app if the rest of us want to see it be successful. Little things to aid card management or answer "what happened to those cards from my treasure chests?" will go a long way to hold on to new players. The game isn't solely here for those with prior play experience. The tabletop game rules are already quite fundamentally broken by the decision to allow users to replay scenarios and swap characters around on a whim. The developers made the gameplay decision with the support of Paizo, and ideas like the stash just allow users to more effectively play the game within the framework of what the app presents. I'd rather help users find ways to bend the tabletop rules instead of getting confused or disappointed enough to delete the game before finishing AD1. When I sit down with my iPad, I get that I'm essentially playing non-competitive adventure solitaire. It doesn't bother me that others might be "cheating" or that I might occasionally have a lot of fun abusing the heck out of an exploit. Anyhow.... if traditionalists want to gripe about the stash, I bet that's only just the beginning.
  5. I only noticed the roll stats in one of the screenshots, so it's a fair bet that it isn't permanently on. I mean, why wouldn't you have it enabled if it were an option? I'm sure the details are in the forthcoming blogopost...
  6. The $25 bundle gets you all RoTR Adventure Decks (AD1-AD6), all base characters and the character deck, and about a half-dozen special promo cards. However, it does not give you the special alternate characters that were released late last year, treasure chests, or gold. The bundle is only a complete RoTR "base" set. It is certainly possible to free-play your way to the end, but if you do the math to figure how long that might take, it might not be a lot of fun. The strength of buying the bundle is that you don't have to worry about grinding your way through the game and you can just have fun playing it. All the gold you earn can be spent on fluff like treasure chests and character alts. That being said.... there's the PC release scheduled for about two weeks from now, and it is likely that will be accompanied by a patch or content update for the mobile version. The first two adventures are pretty cheap, so that might give you some inexpensive gameplay to mess around with while we wait to see the details about the rumored $35 bundle that may include yet even more content.
  7. Like Longshot11 mentioned, a restart of the app should probably fix it. The -1 gold price is usually what happens when the app didn't quite connect right with the servers (which appear to be working okay). If you're looking for suggestions on what to spend your gold on, buy at least the first Adventure Deck or two before saving gold for characters or treasure chests. You'll get a better feel for the rules of the game and have more content to play around with as you contemplate grinding out gold or spending $25 to buy the entire Rise of the Runelords package (I did, it's worth it!).
  8. I don't think it was mentioned in the articles, but there were a couple slides shown at PaizoCon that strongly hinted towards exactly that: The app can already be cross-platform between iOS and Android if you file a support ticket. Adding the desktop versions into the mix isn't that much harder once Obsidian settles on an authentication system or user account to tie all the platforms together. edit: As usual, @Hannibal_PJV answered a question before I could submit a post. Only beat me be a minute this time - I'm beginning to narrow the gap!
  9. Quest mode has about two weeks to live. Sorry. There was a developer blog update in February saying to expect that gameplay mode to disappear in the next major patch. Based on today's announcement, it looks like that date is now set for June 15th.
  10. Aside from the general news about PC/Mac release, there are a couple other little gems hidden in screenshots. 1. The Backpack cometh 2. Live stats! (aka. training wheels for dice)
  11. Here's the goods! 12. No worries. Hopefully the problem can be sorted out. So just to be clear, after you complete the tutorial, you see the following screen, right? From there, you should be able to drag character tokens from the top row to the bottom, filling up the party roster from left to right. Once you have selected at least one character, the green arrow should appear on the right to start the game. At which point are you having an issue in the app? Are you unable to drag the character tokens down to the party, or is the green arrow not showing up/working once you selected the characters you want to use? Are you using a phone or tablet? The drag gesture on the phone is sometimes is a little finicky due to the cramped interface. In that case, briefly tap-and-hold the character you want for a second before dragging them downward. Depending on how your phone is configured/modded, a quick swipe from the top of the screen sometimes gets interpreted as something other than an attempt to build your pathfinder party.
  13. I'll second the suggestion to delete the game and reinstall. Assuming that there is a problem with your local character vault, deleting the app and pulling down fresh copies of everything from the server might repopulate it with good data. Delete/reinstall is usually a harmless troubleshooting step. If you've been playing online regularly, the only thing you'll lose is the game keeping track of which tooltips and gameplay suggestions it has already shown you. Just go into the app settings and turn them back off if you don't want to be periodically bothered by the game trying to be helpful.
  14. That's my take on it too. The way the game is currently designed, there is no easy way to prevent card mules. A card stash doesn't fundamentally alter how people will use the digital app, it just makes it more straightforward to do a thing that they are already doing. Honestly, I'm probably just going to use the stash to hold onto all those loot cards I don't particularly like, but for some reason can't bring myself to banish. I guess I'm just thinking of it more as a digital trophy room, not some sort of game cheat. Instead of worrying about features making the story mode easier, it would probably be more worthwhile to lobby for some sort of "Trial of Iron" mode to enforce some of the tabletop rules (i.e. Permadeath on, no experienced characters, only play through each scenario once on Normal). I'm okay with the present incarnation being something of an "arcade mode", but there are apparently quite a few players who would enjoy one-shotting through the scenarios like they would in tabletop play.
  15. Your interpretation of how the card should work is entirely correct. Per a dev post for the tabletop version of this game, an undefeated Muck Graul encounter should be resolved as: No real solutions or workarounds for this bug at the moment. A similar report is also in this thread (see item #10 in the first post). Hopefully this gets some visibility for the upcoming 1.2.6.x patch.
  16. Daily gold challenges don't need to be collected. They are awarded the moment you complete them. Sometimes the window might not pop up (or quickly disappear), but I don't think I've run into a situation where a daily completed and my gold total didn't adjust accordingly. Weekly challenges should still be available in the pickup window once they've been finished off. Daily challenges automatically awarded gold when the challenge system was first introduced, but there was a brief span of time late 2016 when they where found in the pickup window where you had to collect them. A few patches ago, it went back to awarding the gold immediately as the daily challenge was completed. As far as the UI stuff goes, the challenge window might just be a little overbuilt for the time being. Aside from weekly challenges, the devs could theoretically do monthly or whatever-ly special challenges, and the pickup window just allows them the option to award non-gold things like treasure chests, cards, dice, characters or anything else they have in mind. I don't think there is presently a mechanism to hand out a set of dice or a DLC character (or whatever) while you're in the middle of a scenario. The reason it has a separate tab is that, in theory, you could complete a weekly challenge but not have a chance to collect it before the new week rolls around. There is also a semi-major patch on the horizon; so there's no telling if we'll see changes to the challenge system with the 1.2.6.x release.
  17. No worries, it should be pretty easy to take care of. 1. Open your phone and go to the Settings app 2. Scroll down about a third of the way and look for Game Center. It should be immediately above the Twitter and Facebook 3. Tap Sign In at the top of the screen to log in with your Apple ID. Once you're logged in, the Pathfinder app should be able create your account and everything should work normally. If that still didn't work, double-click the home button to bring up the iOS app switcher. Swipe the app "up" off the screen to manually close it (usually called a "force quit"), then tap the home button again and restart Pathfinder. Good luck!
  18. Paizo has a brief description of the Kingmaker Adventure Path on their website. Certainly could be a interesting game. Here's hoping for the best.
  19. The simplest solution is really to just start each scenario on legendary with a full party and take a screenshot of the setup screen. Link assignments vary based on the specific scenario or quest template, so no, there hasn't been a community effort to capture that data quite yet.
  20. Nodes and pathing are pre-set for each scenario, and not randomly generated by any particular rule-set in the game. When Obsidian created the digital scenarios they simply made some gameplay decisions on which locations were connected to each other for the "adjacent movement only" rule.
  21. Along with the Eagle combo, I'm also a fan of Merisiel and Ilsoari Gandethus. Sure, the Eagle is a better Ally, but as an AD1 card, the odds are really good that you'll come across Ilsoari early-on. Once the card is drawn, it basically gives Merisiel a free peek at her location deck every turn. Optionally shuffling revealed monsters back into the deck is also a nice feature. I also consider it "fun" combo, because should you fail the roll and summon the Sandpoint Devil, you simply evade and nope! your way out of the encounter. Sadly, it's a lot of button-pushing in the app to utilize ol' Ilsoari every turn. It is a much smoother tabletop combo after you convince your friends that you probably don't need to roll for the Sandpoint Devil encounter every. single. time.
  22. Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your account. Sadly, there isn't much that you can do on your end. The issue is pretty rare, and seems to only affect Android for some reason. Assuming you are logged into the google play store with the same account, occasionally something funny happens, and a new unique ID is generated, which in turn creates a new PFID (your Pathfinder Account) and you lose access to your stuff. The same username but different 4-digit ID issue you describe is a classic indication that sort of thing happened. The good news is that your old account is still there in the system, and a dev can link together Username #1234 and Username #5678 or manually transfer details over. The fact that your username stayed the same should also help them identify your old account. Email support seems to be a 9-5-ish job, Pacific time; your request has only been in the queue one business day so far. You should hear back from them soonish. Sorry again that the community doesn't have any tricks up their sleeve to assist you in the meantime. Things appear to be busy at Obsidian as they prep for the coming steam release of Pathfinder.
  23. I've occasionally felt the same way, and it certainly wouldn't be the first time it came up on these forums. But I can't really come up with a working theory besides humans having a terrible perception bias. By all analysis, the shuffling RNG is fair in its implementation, and works properly when the game uses it. Though, I sometimes wonder if there are situations where the game inadvertently does a "Shuffle Under Top" (like after a successful Augury), when the rules should dictate a "Shuffle Everything" kind of shuffle. I'm just guessing, but the problem (if there is a problem) is likely not so much a matter of randomness, it is that the game appears to have different shuffles for different situations, and possibly a card bug or UI glitch is affecting the implementation.
  24. I am using the same account on both devices, but you say I have to logout from one and then login on the other? No. It's fine to be logged in on multiple devices at the same time. But as flounder pointed out, if you accidentally log off one device, or happen to be playing without an internet connection, goofy things can happen with the sync process. Compounding all this is that certain syncs happen at certain times; it isn't some sort of continuous background process. Assuming you aren't in the middle of a scenario, one of the best ways to fire off a proper sync is: On the device with "up-to-date" data: 1. Start the app, select Story (or quest), and chose a party 2. Once you are at the "overworld" and are given the opportunity to chose a scenario/difficulty, the game should have synced those characters up to the server 3. (optional) Starting a scenario and forfeiting it should sync a party save up to the server, but more often than not, issues are with characters, not the game save itself On the device with "out-of-date" data: 1. Force quit the app and restart 2. When you see the "logged in" popup, it should have synced those characters (or saves) back down from the server If the out-of-date device is just irredeemably off-sync, it may be easiest to delete that copy of the app and reinstall. That way it can pull a fresh set of data back from the pathfinder cloud.
  25. Not too much of a mix-up. The game uses specific terms in specific ways, and it gets pretty difficult to sort out sometimes. Using Dominate as an example, "search your location deck for a boon and add it to your hand" should not activate the scenario power in Local Heroes stating: "If you acquire an ally, you may immediately attempt to close your location." The reason being that summoning a boon from the vault or choosing one from a location deck are not the same as encountering and successfully passing the Check to Acquire shown in the top-right of a card. In a plain-language sense, you're "acquiring" the card either way, but as far as game logic goes, acquiring happens only after a check is passed. It is a similar sort of logic that doesn't allow you to close a location if you encounter the Goblin Raid barrier card. Yes, you may have defeated a henchman, but it wasn't a henchmen you encountered by flipping the top card of the location deck. As far as the treasure stats go, sorry for the rough luck. Maybe there's something cooking on the back-end for the coming patch. It has probably been several months since the last time anyone here tried to determine what was going on with the drop rates. I don't remember seeing anything weighed too heavily towards B/1 cards.
