TSLRCM 1.8 RELEASED!
Hassat Hunter replied to Hassat Hunter's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What's being worked on right now... Also, MOTY seems to be up and running. Feel free to support us in that manner, it would be appreciated. I doubt we can hold ground against the many shooter or RTS-mods, but who knows? So, without further ado, what's coming... TSLRCM 1.8.2 Now, it's definitely not intended to become a regular thing, these version updates. After 1.8, there isn't much to restore or fix after all. However, some small bugs slipped by, and even by 1.8.1. The only reason why there will be a 1.8.2 is due to M4-78EP. I hope for a similtanious release. Don't expect any spectacular fixlogs though, it's mostly just tiny fixes and adjustments.Although, if you still know of some bugs in TSL with 1.8.1, this would be the very best time to mention them. M4-78EP Reaching the end of the Beta-period, M4-78EP is almost admidst us. Giving an entire planet filled with a long main quest, several side-quests and the hunt for Vash M4-78EP is sure to add a few hours of gametime to your TSL experience. Nearly all droids are fully voiced, hopefully neatly integrating this into normal gameplay.M4-78EP will be hosted here on this moddb, since most of the crew overlaps anyway. And I (and probably not zbyl either otherwise he already made it) don't really want to start a new moddb page seperately. Especially if the hundreds of watchers here mean everybody gets instantly notified of it's release, instead of having a new page get that attention again. The GenoHarden Mod Exile007 has released his work. However, it's not compatible with TSLRCM yet. Other modders are permitted to do so, and several have already shown interest in doing so. And if they fail, I'll do it myself. Although that probably will take more time, so I rather hope it doesn't have to come to that. This mod adds some custom stuff to make what was left of the GenoHaraden work, and not stand out as a sore thumb (as would be the case if we added it to TSLRCM, as what OE has left is not enough to do a restoration). So, there is plenty of good stuff coming. Follow us (or even vote for MOTY) so you are made aware the instant these mods are released! -The TSLRCM/M4-78EP team -
Randomization and Replayability
Hassat Hunter replied to anubite's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
You can. It's best to avoid like the plague though... -
I also object. Immunities should be one. I actually think WoW and similar games did bad there. There's no need for example to split specilisations. If in a game someone is immune to fire, your fire wizard is useless. Hence you update fire and ice to counter that. In systems where there's just resistances however you probably don't. Why split between fire and ice if the solution to fire-resistant enemies is just... more fire? And thus it harms having to use strategy and resorts to using the same tactic over and over and over, because you can. Not a good thing IMO.

* said should be sad... dammit :/ -
Playing TOR with zbyl (sorry, have to wait longer for M4-78 xD), and soon also the final Walking Dead episode (hope it's better than 4) and The Baconing... So, enough to do...
-
Got a few games... most older ones for -75% that never made flash though (armed and dangerous, toki tori, the baconing). New games still too expensive... maybe during x-mas? If not, no loss, enough to play till they are cheaper. Also, a good lesson learned. Never, EVER, buy from Steam unless in a sale. And yes, they are 95% guaranteed more expensive than a shopversion when not on sale here in the Netherlands...

Randomization and Replayability
Hassat Hunter replied to anubite's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Randomnising monster groups and the area only makes sense if combat is pre-dominant, so seeing the same gets stale. See: Diablo. However, since PE isn't like that, there wont be an added value here, since the dungeons and maps and groups aren't as important, often or meaningful as an aRPG. Enemy placement is key. And that's a lot harder to do with randomisation. So they better cannot bother and make the one encounter that is there great. -
How do you guys get these excess codes anyway? Buying many packs with doubles included? I don't think I ever got a tradeable game on Steam. Well, Risen... but someone else traded that to me for coal (x-mas action), so I wanted it . The only games interested in I already have anyway
-
I think it's silly most modern games still have dissapearing corpses. And so fast. I definitely agree having them stay around would be good, until you spend a considerable gametime away (or if a bar-fight or something, if you leave the map). If the only concern is looting, in a different thread there was a good suggestion of instead of looting idividually, you just got an overview of all, asign to party members, then they all go collect the stuff. This way, "loot blocking" wouldn't even be an issue.

This should go without saying... Making it that more said it has to be asked nowadays :/ -
I demand no tutorial.
Hassat Hunter replied to anubite's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Not sure why "tutorial at the start" became a fad when a seperate one is just a zillion times better, and the first ruins game re-runs. But maybe games aren't made anymore to be run twice, and I am just an old-fashioned geezer who should get along with the ride down the cliff? Tl;dr: Yes, I agree. -
Developers?
Hassat Hunter replied to Wolfentir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
YES I'd be fine with the devs getting some ideas here, but they should turn into BioWare where they are a bit too focused on their users and the games suffer from it. Purely user-based games always suck... -
Scorchy did it. No reason why you shouldn't...

Telos station Exchange phase bug (NOT CONSOLE BUG)
Hassat Hunter replied to Raytard's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
New to me. So when you click/get near the console next to the door, no cutscene? Is the Gammorean Boss around? -
^ Approve. Which will only raise the question... "If you have an awesome trainer... why not pay him to get you to [max level] right at the start?" So, no, don't think that works. Well, there is a big difference. Having them lack a level or few still allows catch-up. It takes work, but it can be overcome. An auto-leveled teammember however can become permanently useless, and there's nothing you can do about that. That's not good. I am all for making people think before they do, but ruining their game for the heck of it, no thanks.

Ehm, handcrafted areas? How exactly would you plan "rotated and placed randomly"... this isn't some ugly game like Diablo II or a 3D game with presets... :/ (And thank the gods for that I might add) -
Implicit quests and content
Hassat Hunter replied to Pipyui's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I obviously am pro-this... a lot. Although with this there definitely also should be the option to make manual entries to the journal (possibly having it's own tab), so you may log stuff yourself to not get confused much later in the game... -
Nothing official, just discussion. Never stated my own opinion, so herebye; * Left behind allies should not gain XP. If they are underleveled compared to your party however, they gain a XP-boost when traveling with you. This way you still need to "train" them, but the gap gets smaller and smaller doing so.
