Feargus video interview
No, it's an action game masquerading as an RPG due to character development and concepts like classes and levels that many people think make it into an RPG only because they fail to realise that many RPGs don't have classes and levels at all. It has some character development in the skill system, though, and it's fun for a while... But that doesn't make it an RPG. Nor does the fact that it has a plot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That's a good question...why do you bother? You already stated that it was just what you felt. Though I imagine that that statement is a bit of a copout, since you were guily of it yourself when you decided Darque's classification of it was wrong too.

No Fallout 3 at E3 2006
So your compromise is to keep the Fallout experience the same, but add some stuff. Again....some middle ground.

No Fallout 3 at E3 2006
I fail to see how a "middle ground" somehow involves keeping the original Fallout experience 100% intact.

With so many people thinking you did contradict yourself, maybe it wasn't as clear as you thought it was.

UH OHH! MAUL IS COMING AGAIN!!
Necroposting is always in. I'd rather bring back an old thread and renew the discussion than see fifteen different thread on the same subject (Bungie.net). But then, that's just my opinion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd rather not, because when I read the first post a typically expect it to be somewhat recent. Certainly seemed like an odd thread to complain about Maul coming back, when the movie was already released.

If, at the very least, it includes all the stuff that is contained in Fallout, then it's not a middle ground. When using the term "middle ground," you imply a compromise between the two extremes. Your "middle ground" looks awfully tilted in the direction of the old Fallout. As in, "you don't care as long as it allows you to play and experience the game like the original Fallout." Hardly a compromise. All you've done is allow concessions for people that had reservations about the original game, by essentially building on top of the original game. Some middle ground.

Movies You Have Seen Lately
Saw Lord of War. Between that and the Weatherman, I think Nicholas Cage has an excellent "storyteller's narrator" voice. It was entertaining.

A disturbing trend
Kudos to Atreides for posting his view on the controversial subject. For the record though I disagree

You're kidding, right? Please say you're kidding and I totally missed the sarcasm. He's ELEVEN. At that age I thought I was in love with Kirk Cameron. (Yes, I realize I'm really dating myself by making that statement.) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're not that old. I was a fan of Mike Seaver's crazy antics too!

What the hell are you talking about, Alan? The minority of players refuse to call Diablo an RPG? First of all, that's a hard fact to prove, but I'd claim the other way around. Most players, except for the hard-core RPG elite, seem to consider Diablo an RPG. Personally, I consider it an RPG. It's not an RPG in the way that some uber-leet, pretentious RPGers think of them, but it sure as hell has the trappings as far as I can tell. I get a kick out of your take on the industry most of the time, but you're plain offtrack on this one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was a typo. Minority of gamers seem intent on making sure Diablo is NOT referred to as an RPG.

I have mixed feelings about the "see the reaction" prior to making your decision. On the one hand, it seems silly to be able to know the reaction before hand. On the other hand, when I talk with people in real life I doubt I'm quite as blind as I am in a video game when thinking of appropriate things to say to an individual. It'd be really cool if this was affected by some sort of maniuplation attribute or something, and lower scores would result in less significant "prediction" (is he smiling, or is it just an idle animation?), or perhaps even incorrect readings.

what PC do you use?
I haven't seen burn in on any CRT monitor made in probably the last 15 years. The thing I like most about my CRT is resolution flexibility. EDIT: Consider yourself lucky then Arkan, you don't notice it so it's no big deal.
